I'm 21 weeks & went for a sono today. They said it looks like the baby is measuring 2 to 3 weeks behind. Heartbeat was good at 160 & all the organs looked as if they were developing normally. Does anyone have experience with measuring behind in the second trimester & beyond? We are scheduled to see a specialist later this week for another sono & second opinion.
@jamifinch Is this your first ultrasound? When did you have your first OB appointment? I'm wondering if your EDD has just been a couple weeks off the whole time. I have no experience with this, also haven't had my A/S yet, but hoping your second scan will provide you with some answers. Good luck!

With my DD#1 I measured a little more than 2 weeks behind and they changed my due date even tho I got a positive pregnancy test at 3weeks so I knew my due date wasn't wrong. My DD ended up being born 3 days before her original due she was just small Im talking 5lbs 14oz but perfectly healthy! Try not to worry I know it's hard to hear that your baby isn't measuring on track but it is common.
This was my second ultrasound. The first one was at 9 weeks & measured right on track. My due date matches my last cycle & that first ultrasound. This is my first pregnancy & I don't "look" pregnant at 21 weeks...no real bump to speak of & I've only gained a couple pounds (no morning sickness either). I know weight gain & how your bump looks don't mean much, but all of it combined with this ultrasound is worrisome to me.
My doctor said in the first trimester 1 week ahead/behind is normal, and in the 2nd trimester that goes up to 2 weeks. You could just have a smaller baby. I would try not to worry unless the doctor gives you a reason to. (I am naturally a worrier and totally freaked out about lack of growth between ultrasounds, then the next one I was all caught up. It also just depends on how they measure the baby.)
