Alright ladies! Welcome to the first GTKY Thread for M17!

I want to start out with a basic one this week. When/Where/How (spare no deets!) did you meet your DH or SO???

Also, just for fun, how does the toilet paper roll in your house? Over? or Under?

I met my DH 8 years ago (on July 1) at a Skyline Chili where I had just started working. He was my manager (the SCANDAL!) and the first time we ever locked eyes I just had this tug behind my belly button that felt like God had punched me in the gut and said, "if you don't give this guy a chance, you'll always regret it", no literally, I had that exact thought in my head! So 3 days later, when I worked w him again, I got his number. We stayed up all night texting each other and had our first "date" on the July 6. 8 years later, I guess I got it right

Also, just for fun, how does the toilet paper roll in your house? Over? or Under?

I met DH at a bar 10 years ago. We both went to see a mutual friend's band. I forgot his name, scared him with my intensity, and realized I was in love with him when he told me he was moving 3 and a half hours away to the city I hate most (and we currently live...) We moved in together after 4 months, and bought a house in 2009, and finally got around to getting married in 2014.

I like it roll over, but he just puts the roll on the holder whichever way he happens to do it.

First and most importantly -- toilet paper ALWAYS goes over. It's the only proper way. Anything else is just uncivilized.

As for meeting DH -- he was a waiter at the inn that my family and I have vacationed at for the last 30 years. Picture a slightly rundown version of Dirty Dancing. We knew of each other for several years but he was always "that waiter kid" and neither one of us was ever available.

Fast-forward to two months after I moved a few states away for work, and we were both single. I was not in any way looking for a romance, but figured he could be a one night stand. He didn't want to let that happen though, and two weeks later he flew out to where I was living and spent the week. A year later we were engaged. I'm still not really sure how it all happened ...

1. I met him at a house party at a mutual friends house in 2009. We played beer pong and he said if he beat me he got to take me on a date. I beat him but still let him take me on a date (I was beer pong queen back in those days. He never stood a chance.)

2. I do not care which direction the toilet paper goes as long as someone besides me is the one to replace it. I HATE when people don't replace it.

He was new to the city and I had some friends convince me that I needed to try it after ending a four year relationship . Our first date was at a martini bar and my big strong, nearly pro-hockey playing husband ordered an apple martini. When the waitress came to deliver our drinks she handed him my vodka tonic and me his lady-like beverage. I seriously reconsidered my decision making abilities at that point, but fast forward 4 months and BAM we were engaged. I guess when you know, you know, right?

Also, just for fun, how does the toilet paper roll in your house? Over? or Under? Over is my preference but frankly, as long as he changes it when it runs out- I don't care which way he puts it on. I feel you @Skyjewell23 .

DH and I went to the same high school and although we had a large number of overlapping friends, we never spent much time together. But after high school we started seeing each other more and more at parties, but we couldn't get the timing right. Until one day we just decided to give it a try. Some 2 years later we were buying a house together and getting married.

The roll should always go over.

I met my husband in high school. He was in a band and of course I thought that was so cool. I had to meet him! I saw him out in town one night and introduced myself- I was way more social as a teen. We became friends for about two years before dating. It's now almost 13 years since we got together and married for 2.5 years. Sheesh time seriously flies!!!

TP always over. I used to not care but DH has taught me it matters.

We met in a bar in 2007. I was with a girlfriend and he was with some friends. He chatted with me on my way to the bathroom and h asked if he could buy me a drink. I grabbed my friend and said "This really tall guy over there wants to buy me a drink - lets go. " Future H brought a friend over to entertain my friend - they also got married!!

I kinda don't care lol. I know it's a big deal to some but I honestly never notice.

I am 35 and DH is 37 - we met when we were 17/19 and I was a hostess at a restaurant and he was working the valet there. I got his e-mail address from his best friend and sent him a weird e-mail that only a 17 year old would write saying I bet he didn't know who I was. He didn't respond because apparently he thought it was one of the other hostesses whom he had no interest in. Then about 3 weeks later he found out from the best friend that it was me who wrote it and he hasn't left me alone since.

We married when we were 24/26.

Too funny about the TP question...it HAS to roll over!

I met my husband at a mutual friend's Halloween party in 2007. I had been friends with punk rock kids since high school, so we were bound to meet eventually. We talked a little but lived an hour and a half away, so it was slow going. We started dating the next summer, and have now been together 8 years and married for 2, as of tomorrow.

Toilet paper must go over, like a waterfall.

We met on the Internet....how modern of us! We were both previously married and divorced and ended up back in the dating pool. Dating in your 30s is so much different then your 20s! I had dated for a good year and a half prior to snagging him. He had only been back at dating for about 3 months or so. Once I found him, I made sure he didn't get away....he's fantastic

@SandwichLover - Oh gosh, are y'all still friends? Do you double date? That's so cute.

DH and I met in high school! We started dating our senior year after meeting at work (grocery store)! Our first official date was senior prom.

We usually do it over because that seems most natural, but that's something that really doesn't bother me!

When/Where/How (spare no deets!) did you meet your DH or SO??? I was 18 when I met DH. I had just graduated that spring and it was the fall. We both chose to take a year off and do a mission school for 3 months that had a 2 month trip to India following. We were both dating other people for the 3 month school part. And then we went to India and fell in love on a rooftop talking about life. And we both broke up with our SO. That was in 2009. Two years later we got engaged. And I was married 2 months after I turned 21.

Also, just for fun, how does the toilet paper roll in your house? Over? or Under? We aren't animals. Of course it goes over.

@PattersRN DH and I met on the internet too! Same thing, each had been married and divorced before. He had written me about 5 messages while I was dating someone else from the website and when that broke off I found his persistence endearing and he was also smoking hot so I responded

Met my husband in college back in 2009. I was actually married back then to someone else but we always kept in touch because we had the same classes or group projects. After he found out I was getting a divorce he asked me out and it's pretty much a done deal after that. We didn't get married until 2014. I got pregnant right after but experienced a loss at 38 wks. So this is baby 2 for us and I'm trying my best to stay positive. This was our first month actually trying so I'm thankful that it didn't take long.

And we do the toilet paper over.

We met at the gym. He had just moved to town for the AF, and I offered to show him around. We were just gym buddies for a bit, but that didn't last long.

We met at an ice festival in the beer tent....he was with friends and I was with friends....and we just started talking. Our first date we went skiing and it was one of the most fun dates I've ever had. He moved to the US from Germany for work and obviously after we met he decided to stay here permanently! We have been married 2 years this August!

Toilet paper has to be over!

I met DH on the night I went of my first "date" with my ex-boyfriend. I say "date" b/c it was me, him, and 4 of his buddies at a bar (oh, college). I remember thinking how cute he was and how much i liked DH at the time. I ended up dating the ex for a while, which was totally necessary & part of the bigger plan, b/c i would only cross paths with DH when with ex. Ultimately we started hanging out solo (platonically, but while I was still dating ex). A month or so after i broke up with ex, I asked DH if he wanted to hang out at a bar during spring break. He texted yes, and we made a plan. I later learned that he had gone home to his parents for spring break and drove 2.5 hours that day just to hang out with me. He's a keeper.

Also, just for fun, how does the toilet paper roll in your house? Over? or Under?
I don't care & don't pay attention, however, DH lets me know if i did it incorrectly (he prefers over).
