Re: All things pumping

My PISA makes my nipple hurt so bad. I have the correct fitting shield based on what I've read, and I don't crank it up to max. My right nipple is super sensitive (it's the one I got the milk blister on - what is up with all of our right boobs?!). Does anyone rent a Medela Symphony? I've been reading it's much more gentle than the PISA.
Edited because my phone is censoring my profanity. No, phone. I don't mean shirty or ducking. Ever.
At least now I can have some wine!
However, the relief pump I did last night when we got home (4oz - so 2 from each side) is def much lighter in color (looks like a watery white) compared to the ones this morning (creamy white) - I never pump on the evenings so is that why it is that color or is it just straight foremilk and is it still ok to use? My dumb self ended up freezing it in the 4oz increment versus mixing it with the creamier ones...
I always get less and less as the day progresses. It's like they refill at night while I'm asleep. I'm wondering if I'm having a lack of supply lately. It makes me afraid to pump. If I could master the pump and feed at the wee am feedings, I'm sure I'd get a ton, but I want my boobs to make less milk at night and more during the day.
@kbrands7 Figured I'd page you
were boring moms now.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this!
Until recently, I slept in DS's room. However, I've just moved back to my bedroom. DH says no way I'm pumping in our room at night, but I keep worrying that I'll wake DS up in the middle of the night. What are you ladies doing?
I'm hoping he'll cave and realize it's no better for him in the current set up, especially since he gets to listen to me pump via baby monitor currently.
He also wants to do the cry it out sleep method when LO is old enough... I told him that he gets the monitor on his side of the bed if that's the case.
Your DH can get over the pump and slight light (I use my phone as a light too). You gotta do what you gotta do. It's already a huge pain in the butt to pump at night anyway but to leave the room too?! I want to pump and go straight back to bed.
1. Put the pump on your side of the bed instead of in the bathroom. Have everything hooked up ahead of time so all you have to do is turn it on.
2. I have the medela in style advanced and the noise is reduced if I close the flap that hides the controls.
if you do these two things pumping becomes a lot more efficient and less of a hassle. I can see him not wanting to deal with the noise and all the set up while he's asleep.
as for crying it out, here's a great quote I read about that method: when you stop responding to your babies cry, you're letting them know not to come to you with their problems.
if he still won't budge, have him check out Brazeltons book on sleep. He does a good sleep training that allows the parents to still respond to their babies instead of just letting them cry.
How did you go about thawing frozen milk into bottles for next day to go daycare? I know milk is only good for 24 hours after it's thawed. But I would really dread having to thaw frozen milk overnight and then make bottles early in the morning for daycare. Or is that my only option?
Thank you!
If my DH told me no way was I pumping in our room I would tell him tough s**t. It's not like hooking our boobs up to a weird machine to feed our children is super awesome or convenient for us, I say we get to do it wherever we damn well please.

I'm pumping 1-2 oz to have for DH to feed LO a bottle so I can get out of the house. I've been keeping it in the fridge for 1-3 days and freezing if he doesn't use it. Is this okay, should I freeze it right away and then have him thaw it?
Also if he warms up milk from the fridge can it go back into the fridge if he doesn't finish it? And for how long?
Thank you!
