BITCHFEST MIGHTY MONDAY

Re: BITCHFEST MIGHTY MONDAY

  • @SkiChic626 I have to get endoscopies (where they stick a camera down your throat after putting you to sleep) every two years due to my disease, and I believe, like other posters have said, the rules have changed a bit. I always have a midnight cutoff for food and water if I'm scheduled for first thing in the morning (6 a.m.), but if I'm scheduled for an afternoon appointment, then my cutoff is usually 6-8 hours before the procedure. So I would imagine you could stop eating closer to your surgery time. But like PPs have said, definitely ask first because I'm not a medical professional and am just going off my own experience!

My bitchfest for today is my coworker that calls in sick all the time (again)! I have an update on him. This time he managed to talk my bosses into letting him spend an entire week in Atlanta covering a satellite camp for one of the football teams in our area. The company paid for his gas, his food and his hotel for the whole week (and the company is too broke to give any of us a cost of living raise...). He got back last night and today he came to work without a single story written and he hadn't even written his weekly football column that's expected of him each week. His excuse? He dropped his cellphone in the toilet! Now while that's hilarious and everything, how exactly does not having a cellphone prevent him from writing his stories and column?!

Meanwhile I'm over here struggling to get 9 weeks maternity leave with 3 of them paid at only half my salary. Yet he manages to use up all his vacation time in the first six months of the year, then still manages to get weeks off like this through creative avenues. (Basically an all expenses paid vacation in Atlanta.)

I would be sooooo pissed!!! How does this guy still have a job?!?!  Has anyone asked HR about it?

  • @Allisun85 - NICE find on that ring!!  My rings still fit enough to wear when I go out of the house, but I wouldn't mind ordering that for the last few weeks as well as other occasions.  On my honeymoon I was terrified my rings were going to slide off and be lost in the ocean, I basically swam making an okay sign with my thumb and ring finger the entire time.
  • So i went out to eat at a chinese buffet and the first person is an elderly man and stops and he tells me oh my does twins are ready to come out, mind you complete stranger and i was like NOOOOO i have one baby in there and all ultrasounds show i have one, he was like they can be wrong, i just then walked away, then the waitress asks me what i want to drink i tell her i wanted orange soda and she says lemonade and i told her NOO orange soda and she suggested lemonade again and i told her i won't repeat myself anymore i want what i want, then she says oh when are you due with your twins, i told her i am due in august with one baby and walked away, pretty much was annoyed for people always assuming things and think they know what i should be drinking when i know what i am doing jeeeez.

    @Allisun85 that is pretty :)
  • I've been puffed since about 20 weeks, (the doctors are thinking it's related to the gallbladder issue) so I needed something! It really is a great price, and I won't feel bad if I de-puff and happen to loose it. My actual rings were causing shooting pains up my arm at 20 weeks, so they needed to be put away - I would have been crushed if they had to be cut off for some reason!

  • @SkiChic626 I feel you on the fasting BS. They scheduled my c-section for 3:30. I know that will end up being later. I'm going to be so angry and mean by the time she comes out!
  • Re: rings

I thanked DH this morning for my beautiful new diamond wedding band. Size XL from Old Navy for my chubby fingers.   ;)
Haha!  I wear my 'fake' wedding ring on the middle finger of my right hand.  I got it while we were engaged because I knew there would be times that my ring would be getting polished or for when I eventually got pregnant.  I got like a cheap 14k white gold plain band, and it's been perfect!  I got it re-sized when I was pregnant with DD, so it's ready to go once I need it!  I think it was about 35/36 weeks that I finally had to switch with DD - we'll see what happens this time!

  • @jamiesc58 and @SkiChic626 - Thank you for the support! I kind of feel like I am out of line being upset because I know I can't expect free childcare. But it really hurts my feelings that she specifically said she was too old now and then agrees to keep my SIL's kid. And @jamiesc58 that was my exact frustration to DH - a newborn isn't even mobile. Just feed, change, and let them nap. She's not up for that, but can chase around a school age kid all day? I call bs on that. Plus it frustrates me that my mom (who works) can do two days by herself, but my husband's parents (who are both retired) can't manage one baby between the two of them. I'm just done. Done being angry about it. It makes me feel like my hubby and I are less important to them then his sisters, but it is their loss. This kid is going to be super awesome and they will miss having that extra time with her.

  • @tmk0325 I've been wondering how he still has a job too! And we've all complained about it to the upper bosses, but they always seem to make excuses for him. I really don't understand how he's still here. In my exit interview in November I plan on telling HR all about him and that it's pissing some of his coworkers off enough that they're planning to leave as well if they don't do something about it.

Another update from today: He's now taking off an extra day next week because he "needs a break." Needs a break from what?! But he didn't even ask his boss. He just said he's taking it end of story.
  • @NICU RN I don't feel like you are upset about not receiving free daycare so I don't think you are out of line at all. I believe it is more about your feelings on your kids vs their kids and you are absolutely entitled to feel that way. My MIL has started to do more for/with our kids recently but before, they rarely saw her. She does absolutely everything for the other 4 grandkids and they are all older. I understand your frustrations, just remember that your baby IS going to be super awesome and THEY are the ones losing out!!! Keep your head up and take care of you and baby!
  • @NICU RN I wonder too if its because the other kids are school age? My parents live on a farm and will take all of the older kids, they can play outside, feed the horses, and can entertain themselves a bit. My parents often volunteer to have the kids for the weekend and usually if my sisters youngest is there (2-years-old) they will see if I can come out and help for a day, but my mom at least doesn't want to leave him out of the fun, she just knows he is harder to keep track of.
  • It's not Monday anymore, but I am tired and lodging my complaints at the numbers on the scale despite my attempts to eat healthy and exercise every day.  I know our bodies will do what they need to and we're growing babies and this too shall pass and blah blah blah but I'm pretty there'd be no difference if I ate cookies instead of the hummus and carrots I just had for snack.  I might just say screw it and resume daily cookie eating.  I guess at least if I do the healthy things, then maybe at the end of the day I'll feel better because literally I did everything I could.  But I sure do like cookies and hate carrots.  Rant over, can I get an amen??
  • @kwilliams3402 agree. Dessert will be had whenever I want it because my body is going to do what it wants regardless of my attempts to be healthy.

@NICU RN I'm sorry. My feelings would probably be hurt by the situation too. Maybe it is because the other kids are older and she can sit them in front of a television for a while if she needs? I don't know. I would still feel upset, but that's what I would tell myself.

  • @Lwc1112, I totally ate cookies at least once a day through the second trimester, and have cut down to sweets twice a week in the last couple weeks, but Monday included a gigantic piece of cake.  But I predict my resolve will only last so much longer.
  • @LWC1112 @kwilliams3402 Right there with you.  My doctor actually was shocked at the weight gain at my last apt. I was embarrassed but seriously-- I use myfitnesspal, run, have an active job, and don't splurge *too* much...  I give up.
  • @LWC1112 @kwilliams3402 @texasmama2014 are all of you in the south? I am in ND and its hot here so I am swelling and retaining water. I can't imagine how it would be to be in the south with temps over 100. I am going to continue to tell myself though that its all water weight and deal with it when he gets here.
  • @kristynmac - I'm in Texas, and its like 75 in the early morning with +90% humidity.  And the high is 95+.  This has got to be swelling and retaining water... my feet are swelling and my... lady parts... are like visibly swollen too.  I've been watching my salt, drinking really an obscene amount of water, and even soaking my feet at night to help.  I need to buy a scale that subtracts water weight out.

Meanwhile, I just texted my husband with: "We should get burgers for dinner sometime soon."  This is why I should eat cookies and not stupid carrots and hummus... I bet that burger craving is all from the stupid carrots!!

And, thank you ladies for making me feel better!! Single digits of weeks... we can do this!

  • @kristynmac I believe we are all actually in TX!  I'm northeast outside of Dallas and its freaking hot.  I swell like crazy but have been doing really well with my feet not look as bad lately. I'm drinking over a gallon of water per day. More if I workout/run.
  • I'm in Iowa and it has been stupid HOT here that i am drinking tons of water more than what i did when i was not pregnant shockingly, i go for a walk in the evenings when sun is not too HOT and stay in AC, this past weekend i was out with my step son since he wanted to go swimming and i was sweating everywhere and it was just plain gross i could not even do it, i was pushing my step son in the sprinklers as he acted like he was scare then he grabbed my hands and push me in felt refreshing but we only were there for like an hour and half and we left any my arms got tanned :) everything else is pasty white @LWC1112 @kwilliams3402 @texasmama2014 and @kristynmac

  • @kristynmac yes, Texas here, Dallas area. I am going to blame water weight too. It is SO hot. I workout regularly still and really do eat reasonably well. And my water intake is high. It has to be from this heat. Husband is out of town for the next week (insert minor panic attack), so it will be interesting to see what happens with my weight since I imagine I'm going to be surviving on cereal. DD won't eat what I cook and I could care less about dinner, so at least our grocery bill will be light this week!
