Please forgive me if this was already asked but where are my car seat natzis at? I was considering putting dd1 in a harness booster seat when we get our new car and possibly using her infant/ convertible car seat for new baby. However I am a little confused on the age, height and weight restrictions. I did call Texas department of public safety and left a message for a woman who supposedly has all the information I need but I don't expect her to get back to me until next week So I have two pictures below of the seat I was looking at for her and the restrictions. I think what confuses me is that it's considered a booster and the restrictions say age 4 weight 40lbs plus. But then it states forward facing 25-90lbs. Does this mean the seat can be adjusted a certain way ? Excuse my text -phone screen was bashed by AHmazing child
dd1 was 32 lbs in March and if I remember correctly around 34 inches
@seitzy3 I'll be your caseatr nazi since you asked for one . IMO your daughter is not ready for a booster. Typically you want your kid to be at least 40lbs/35" before putting them in a booster and it's still much safer to delay that even further. My LO is close to your DD1's measurements and is still rear facing. I would recommend investing in a good convertible car seat instead that can hold her for a few years. We have the maxi cosi pria70 and love it (will hold DS until he's 70lbs forward facing although that may be a bit long even for me lol).
Remember that "graduating" to the next car seat should not be something to be excited about. Each time you move them to the next level, they are less and less protected - so try to delay each move as long as you can
Thank you!!! @Shiva14 after reading more I also don't think she is ready. I'll keep her in her seat that she has now and get a new one for new baby. I just thought I would get some opinions. She is a skinny tall little girl and does seem a little too fragile whe I think about it
@seitzy3 there's a lot of research out there about extended rear facing, I'm not sure of the statistics but it's a pretty significant reduction in likelihood of death in an accident if you have them rear facing.
we got DD a Britax Boulevard Clicktight, she should be able to use it a while. It's rear facing to I think 40lbs and forward to 70. We will get one for Claire when she outgrows the infant seat too.
My daughter is 4.5 and about 38" however only 32ish pounds. She is still in a standard car seat with a 5 point harness which I have no plans to change any time soon.
I can't take off work to take my test at the time my doctor recommends- she recclmended in between breakfast and lunch. But I will have to wait till between lunch and dinner. She said I might be uncomfortable. Why? Anything else I need to know? She just gave me a paper and said to show up this week, haha.
This. She had to have meant because you won't be able to eat all day.

@MrsVoorhees - I've been talking about it recently as I just watched the first season (5 episodes during my 3 hour glucose test) but I think others had mentioned it prior. I find it SO enjoyable, especially while pregnant.
I'm pretty sure it was you @AnnaS930 I love it!! The characters are so cute together without being overly perfect for eachother. Like they're perfect for eachother, but also awful? Lol
@MrsVoorhees Yes, exactly. They have a good best friends who also like to have sex a lot kind of thing. Season 1 it seems like he's quite a bit more invested than she is, I haven't seen season 2 yet.
I'm having two showers back in my hometown, one thrown by my side and one thrown by his. My question is who gets invited to both if anyone? MIL, SILs, BFF.... I know my mom wants to go to his side's too, haven't asked/told MIL yet though.
@jhems776- yup, I'd say just who you're thinking. Let them know about both and you'd love them there at 1, the other, or both - whatever they're up for!
I found a Graco click connect stroller basic frame at a tag sale for $5- it's 7 years old. We are getting a Graco click connect travel system that has a big all terrain stroller, so I thought having the lightweight frame stroller would be a nice alternative for less intense excursions. Is 7 years too old for a stroller base?
@SarahDarah333 Is it still compatible with the newer Graco click connect stuff? I know that 7 years is long enough for a company to completely change their systems. If it's still compatible, especially considering that it would be your stroller for "less intense excursions", I can't think of why it wouldn't be safe unless you can actually see or feel that it's not very strong anymore.
I'd be wary if you were planning on using it for intense outings, but you're going to have your new Graco for that! When you get your new Graco travel system, click it into that older base and see how it feels. That's just what I'd do!
@SarahDarah333 I don't think they had the ClickConnect 7 years ago...our Graco carseat and car seat carrier stroller are not ClickConnect compatible because we bought it right before that became the thing, and that was 3 years ago...I imagine if it's 7 years old, it is compatible with the old Graco system and I'm not sure if it will work with Click Connect
@SarahDarah333 I bet that stroller is a ClassicConnect instead of ClickConnect. I am all for a stroller that functions and isn't recalled, even if it's old! I have a Bob that is 10 years old but looks brand new. I'm not a runner though so we only use it to walk to the pool or the park. Look up the serial number and see which connection it has and if there are recalls, if it works, use it!
@KimmySchmidt believe it or not, the CDC actually has a recommendation on this. You should apply sunscreen first, allow it to dry and then use the insect spray. Be sure to reapply regularly because the deet in bug spray can make the sunscreen less effective
I'm visiting FL and am trying to be zika conscious. When I'm applying bug spray and sunscreen, which do I apply first? Does it matter?
I know this seems like a stupid question but I've never really needed both products at the same time before.
I live in FL and I'd apply the sunscreen first, let it set, then the bug repellant. The sunscreen will work under anything (makeup, bug repellant etc) but the bug spray may not have the same effect if covered by sunscreen. Just be sure to wait maybe 10 minutes between applying to make sure the bug spray isn't repelled by the sunscreen (especially if using greasy spray sunscreen).
Thanks ladies. When I went to see it in person I noticed that there was some duct tape on the handle, which had apparently broken, so we passed. Funny enough, within the hour another friend of mine reached out and asked me if I'd like her gently used MacLarine stroller that she bought 2 years ago for her son and no longer needs. So we ended up with an extra free stroller anyway lol!
@MrsVoorhees - according to my google search results, enclampasia starts when a woman with pre-clampasia has seizures. It's rare, though, so that is good!
@MrsVoorhees - According to Wikipedia *pushes glasses up nose* Preeclampsia includes the symptoms (high blood pressure, protein in urine, etc.) that denote the possibility for Eclampsia (seizures) during pregnancy.
Yikes. I didn't realize what Eclampsia actualy was until that little jaunt into the medical internet.
Edit: HA! @PoodleDoodleOoo beat me to the google searching. At least we know google medical searching is occasionally informative (if not usually entirely terrifying).
@MrsVoorhees - the google searches didn't lead these posters astray. Eclampsia is rooted in the Latin? Greek? word for "lightning" and refers to convulsions/seizures. Pre-eclampsia are symptoms that sometimes precede such happenings. Pre-eclampsia is serious and somewhat rare... progression to eclampsia is extremely serious/fatal and very rare.
jhems776 agree with pp, I am having similar and invited my sis, mom, MIL and SIL to both, that's it. Both moms are coming to both, sisters aren't. Initially I wasn't going to invite MIL to both but thankfully I did. She's made a big deal out of coming to both.
