Another question - anyone not using a belly band? I'm feeling really good so far (knock on wood) and wondering if it's even worth it.
Didn't the first time and haven't this time (at the advice of my doctor).

  • I'm using the Bellefit, and I generally like it. But when I Un-hook it and pull it up a bit to go to the bathroom...lets just say it's kind of demoralizing to see the squishy stomach squeeze out.

  • Had my staples removed this week and I am surprised at how little my scar bothers me. It's very faint now already and so thin that I don't think I'll ever mind it.

I am two and a half weeks PP and feel fine except for an intense pain every now and then in my spine and neck. Anyone else experiencing this??

Just when I thought the pains were done....
Three weeks pp ..For the first week or so had that burning feeling on left side. That's gone now.. But now the right side is having pains. I know Im lifting more than I should and walking a lot, so I'm sure it's all related. Right side feels almost tight, with an itchy/burning sensation. Almost more of an irritation than a pain. Probably doesn't help that all bottoms and underwear rub on that spot. Wish I had more mesh panties!
Yesss I stocked up before we left! They're amazing. I'm still scared to wear real underwear.

Bellefit moms: I just ordered my corset and I'm 4 weeks PP, I'm wondering if it'll still help? I can see why some women need the extra support. I definitely feel it now. My pain meds have ran out :/

For those with underwear issues, I've been using hanes high waisted briefs since I got back from the hospital and they haven't caused any issues with my incision. They aren't the most flattering undies out there but you can pick up a pack for cheap.

Yes! I totally sent my mother out to Kohls for some cheap high waisted granny panties on my first day home. They are totally cringe worthy but so comfortable and cheap enough I'll be fine throwing them out when done. My hospital was very stingy with the mesh ones and buying them as much if not more than cheap cotton.

I wonder where I can buy more mesh panties? Honestly I would wear these for the rest of my life they are that comfortable!

amazon has a bunch of options. I considered getting them but I didn't think they were terribly cost effective. Perhaps a medical supply place would have a deal.

I would check out Amazon @yogahh
  • I hate it. 3 days PP and I'm in pain when I lie down, sit down or get up. Specifically on my right side, there's an awful sharp pain. It's making me very depressed.

It will get better - just give it a couple of days. Those first few days were awful, but, well for me anyways, it got a lot better faster after day 4. Hang in there!

We've had sex twice and I was surprised that it did hurt a little. Just at the beginning for me. My suggestion would be...lube!!

Last time, it did hurt a bit at first. I was very sensitive down there still, and my my abs were sore around the incision area. Still worth it, though! I haven't been cleared this time yet.

    @Delitachan

It will get better but may take a while. Make sure you are staying on top of the pain meds and don't get behind. Also using an abdominal binder or even pressing a pillow into the incesion site can help when moving around. The pain will get better every day if you keep moving but don't push yourself to hard. It took me almost 2 weeks to feel good enough to back off the pain medication and day 2, 3 and the first day home (day 5 for me but I think it's mostly due to all the activity) were the worst.

Also a lot of us are disappointed with the fact we had to have a c-section so you are not alone feeling depressed about it. Just remember it was what needed to be done to keep yourself and baby healthy and the recovery pain will get better soon.

also haven't had sex since Christmas.  Last c/s, sex was uncomfortable for a while, but I blamed it on breastfeeding dryness - not necessarily c/s pain.

  • Havent attempted sex, yet, but only 2 weeks out.  Last time we did it around 7 weeks PP and it was very uncomfortable but we went very slow. Vaginally, it only hurt because of dryness and lack of use (it had been MONTHS). It also hurt around my incision and sore uterus but that wasn't too bad depending on the position.  It honestly took a few months before sex was enjoyable for me.

  • I have a pain while urinating question but not the typical one. Maybe someone has experienced this, too?

When I have to go pee it does NOT burn or hurt while I go, no cloudy or discolored urine, no feeling of having to go often or that I can't get it out BUT right at the end of going there is some minor pain that almost feels like sore muscles. I'm not convinced I have a UTI or bladder infection because it doesn't feel like that but it does feel off in some way. Almost like something is strained or maybe nerve function is coming back, I don't know. I can't tell if it's bladder, uterine, ab or incision pain and in some ways it feels like when you push on a bad bruise. The incision looks completely normal and I have no other symptoms as of yet - only the strained muscle feeling at the very end of going pee.

I have my PP appointment on Friday so I'll ask then and of course if it gets worse I'll call before.

    Anyone?

Yes. It lasted about 3 weeks. I think it was from the foley.

  • Anyone else getting occasional lower ab muscle spasms? At first I brushed it off as phantom kicks, then I realized I could actually see the spasm. They freak me out a bit.
  • When did/will you start driving again? I can't remember what they told me at the hospital (too lazy to check the discharge papers...) I'll be 3 weeks pp on Thursday, too soon?

I haven't technically been given clearance yet (I'm about 3.5w pp), but I've driven myself a few times already. Not with LO in the car, though...only when DH was around to watch her at home so I could run a few errands and just get out for awhile. I'm going to actually wait for my clearance if I can, just to stay on the safe side.

Mine told me 3-4 weeks depending on how you feel.

I was allowed to drive as soon as I stopped taking pain pills. I've been driving since about 1.5 weeks PP but I know it's different for everyone.

  • My discharge instructions actually didn't say anything about driving - just to not drive on narcotic pain medication, obviously. I think I was driving at about 2 weeks, once I had weaned off medications and was already reasonably active.

I have to ask, has anyone else had massive bruising between the incision and the navel? I'm still partly purple (though a lot of it has faded out by now) and there is a spot about the size of an orange midline below my navel that is hard and swollen beneath the surface still. The OB at my 1-week followup agreed it was a ton of bruising and swelling but wasn't all that concerned, but dang. This hard spot is disconcerting at best.

  • I was allowed to drive one week after the c section. But oddly told to still limit stairs at two weeks.

  • The stairs thing is driving me nuts. I've pretty much stopped following most of the instructions (I think I was told I could have 4 trips up/down at 2 weeks pp), but I'm still not carrying LO up/down and that's such a PITA.
  • Wow @PYLWhammy those are some strict rules. My instructions never said anything about driving other than not while on pain meds. And stairs, I had to scoot my butt up and down stairs for 2 weeks PP because I had a broken non-weight bearing foot.
At my 1 month PP check up, I was cleared to exercise (cautiously) and have sex. I started driving 5 weeks PP but that's only because my broken foot was my right one and it had healed enough to drive. I think I could have driven way before that.

In other news, we had PP sex at 5 weeks. It was very interesting. Lube is super helpful!! I wouldn't say I didn't like it, just needs time. But then, I didn't feel super sexy either, so there's that.

I am so confused about that too. My belly button is so bruised, even weeks later.

I was cleared to drive at 2 weeks pp. My Dr said if I can stomp my foot really hard and not feel pain/ not have to take my pain meds then go ahead.

Has anyone tried to run yet? I'll be 6 weeks on Tuesday and my dr appt isn't until 7 weeks pp. I've been walking 3 miles a day but not loosing any weight. Tried jogging today and it feels incredibly odd. I can't get my legs up in fear of hurting my incision. And I feel like my insides are jiggling around.

I'm going to try running this week. After DS1, I felt exactly how you described it for the first week or so,  and fairly sore in my abs afterwards. Wearing high-rise compression leggings helped a lot.

I had this, too! I thought I had to have eaten something weird... and then I actually wondered if I had gotten pregnant again (but remembered we haven't had sex since before the CS... LOL)
