Ok I understand your interest, it's a weird case. I originally posted because I was interested why some moms were getting the US over others. I'm a first-time mom and I know basically nothing of what to expect, I was just seeing all of the US pics and asked. About the Zika: we unknowingly conceived before we went on our honeymoon to ST Lucia, which has confirmed Zika. I explained to my Doctor today that while we took precautions such as staying covered and wearing bug spray there were bites and StLucia recently became a CDC yellow (not recommended travel) country for ZIka. Being that I live in a high altitude desert that does not have mosquitos I was immediately referred to a perinatologist who would have more information. I did not try to trick my doc and I see how the title of this post has been read that way, my original intent had just been to find out why some were getting an US at this stage and why others weren't.
With that said, scans today show my EDD is way off and now we are waiting two weeks to begin Zika testing, looks like I will be closer to end of Feb rather than early. I wouldn't joke about the health of myself, my DH or my baby but we did travel, we did get pregnant and it is a real threat. Sorry if that makes you see red.
Oooookaayyy....
First - "why some moms were getting an US over other moms"... You're making it sound like your provider is picking and choosing. If your Zika concern was truly a concern, I'm inclined to think you would have mentioned that during your initial post. You wouldn't have needed to know what the "trick" was. Sounds like you didn't get the answers you were hoping for, and were grabbing at the easiest excuse.
Second - you asked for the "tricks", didn't receive any advice, came up with your own excuse, and then are upset that others are pointing out your trick? You see how this makes no sense, yes?
Third - this post and people's reactions to it has nothing to do with how you post on a forum... It's about using common sense, which your post lacked. Severely. And it only went downhill from there.
But OP, you can recover from this. Worse things have happened on a forum! Please just use common sense in the future.
ETA: I take back my last statement above, that you can recover from this. After your awful post tonight on last week's Twatwaffle thread, you will likely not be able to recover from this... Not after the terrible things you've chosen to say.
I'm lurking from October and I can tell you having an ultrasound if you're due in late February at this point will basically show you a flickering grain of rice, so I'm not sure what you actually think you'll see.
its also very insulting to fake a high risk situation to get an ultrasound. many of us have gone through absolute hell to get to this point and ultrasounds give me a type of ptsd anxiety that nobody should ever have to experience.
also your bloodwork is done by your doctor who has to petition the cdc for further testing and approval. you should try google if you're going to lie...
I am coming out of my hiatus to post on this thread. I am high risk. I've had two consecutive miscarriages with no living children. I am currently having some spotting which is how both of my miscarriages started. I still could not get an early ultrasound because my OB is just too booked. I have to wait until I am 9 weeks. My appointment happens to be on my 4 year wedding anniversary so I will either have a great anniversary or a terrible one. Your story doesn't seem right and it seems like you tricked your doctor into getting an US when you could have just been painting like the rest of us. So really??

I had a HR PG with weekly u/s (my son) and likely will be HR again. Had a m/c earlier this year. i am going in between 7 and 8 weeks for my initial appt and dating u/s which is what my OB does for all patients.
OP I sincerely hope you don't have zika. i would be terrified beyond belief if I thought there was a chance of it. your post reads like MUD.

Thanks so much @PrimRoseMama !! My appointment is a week from tomorrow. I'm so excited!
I'd never in a million years put bad karma on myself and my unborn child. Whether she's telling the truth or not about Zika, she has now put her words and thoughts in to the universe and that can often be very detrimental.
You shouldn't have to trick your doctor into anything. Request an ultrasound, if they decline, consider another doctor. I subscribe to the school of thought that doctors are supposed to work with you, not determine your health options for you.

In a manner they work with you but in a manner they have to determine your health options. (At least somewhat) They are the professionals and they have the schooling. They need to listen to your concerns and make sure everything is explained so that you understand. They need to let you know all options in a situation. They don't need to give in to an unnecessary ultrasound. I wouldn't change doctors because they wouldn't give in to my request for an early ultrasound just because I want an early ultrasound.
