@RideNRunMomma congrats on your little guy! I read your birth story blog and that sounds so tramatic! I can't imagine! You and your LO are tough and will get through this! You are doing great, don't forget that! If you need to vent or talk to a fellow NICU mom who also had a birth not at all how I expected I'm here if you want to talk!
@RideNRunMomma Congratulations on the birth of your little guy. I just finished reading your birth story and I'm so sorry that you had to experience this. Please take time to rest and heal both physically and emotionally. Prayers that Legan continues to get stronger so that he can come home soon!
To add to @jen11797's advice: if anyone has access to a Hy-Vee (I'm not sure how widespread they are,) use their online Aisles ordering. They will deliver your order to you the next day at a time you select for free if your order is over $100. If it's less, it's still only $5. I plan on utilizing this a lot more when baby is here and I'm not comfortable going out on my own yet!
@RideNRunMomma I read your birth story and I am so sorry that you had such a traumatic experience. Be kind to yourself and allow yourself time to heal physically and emotionally.
Legan is a beautiful baby. His little smile is tugging at all my heartstrings.
Same! I folded them in half for now. We just got out furniture so I'll play around with arranging things, but I have a feeling I won't even end up keeping them folded in half. They're so tiny, it won't take up much space that way lol
I hang all baby clothes except pajamas, random pants (pants that match an outfit go on the same hanger as the top), and accessories. I saw this picture on Pinterest. The lady bought drawer organizers from Ikea and rolls all her baby clothes. I am going to Ikea next weekend and might buy some organizers.
@holly142 I bought the organizer cubes and they were too deep for the baby's dresser so make sure you measure first (don't know why that didn't occur to me)
@holly142 at first glance i thought this was a pic from your nursery. At which point I became crazy jealous of your organization, hahaha!! Thanks for sharing. I owe ikea a trip this week. I'll measure and look for these because this is brilliant!
@holly142 I have this dresser and the organizers. I rolled up all onesies and sleepers and have them organized by sizes in the drawers. It has made life much easier, at least for now. I'm sure it'll be a pain when I have to keep rerolling everything when doing laundry.
@LadyFleck- I had a training session with my husband on where everything is, but seeing as he still doesn't get MY clothes in the right drawers sometimes, I think labeling is a great idea!!
@LadyFleck A girlfriend helped me organize my drawers. She said always have current and next size ready to go. I must say she's on it and got my stuff pretty well organized. I fully expect hubby to be too afraid to mess with it or ruin the order haha!!
DH still can't tell which clothes are pajamas for our almost 2 year old DD. She has to show him where they are.
Congratulations @kim1989! Your story freaked me out a little the way your contractions never got close together. I didn't know that it was possible for labor to progress so far like that. Glad you got to the hospital and everyone's doing well!
@LadyFleck I wasn't going to -- Then DH walked in the baby's room, looked at all the clothes and said, "I'm so overwhelmed. If you want me to help dress this kid, I'm going to need you to label all this stuff. I have no idea what any of it is."
@joleri23@abpl2014@Mbondi0@jjtruffles Thanks ladies! He is getting stronger everyday. I'm pulling some long days at the hospital, but at least I'm generally sitting while I do. I bring in lunch and snacks to save money. Crossing fingers than Legan can transition to fully breastfeeding soon, as the double toll of spending almost an hour feeding him and then having to pump and clean up my pump parts is a little wearing! I am at least going home to sleep and only pumping once overnight, but if he comes home still taking bottles half the time, it could be a bit rough. DH is gone about 12 hours a day between work and commute. We're getting there though - could be home this weekend finally,. He was 2 weeks old yesterday! My July baby barley made it into June
In encouragement to any expectant moms out there, by even day 4 or 5 after my c-section I was already more comfortable getting to and out of bed, as well as more comfy just laying down to sleep than I had been at 35 weeks. HANG IN THERE!!! Even as bad as Legan's birth was, it was totally worth it.
