Re: PGAL Check-in 6/20
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): My birthday is tomorrow!
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Like three people told me I was "looking big" this weekend. While I'm thankful baby is growing, I don't understand why people think this is an appropriate thing to say. It's unkind and I wish people would just stick to compliments or nothing at all.
Questions?
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat? Wishing we had a pool! Mostly just staying in the shade and air conditioned spaces.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Feeling thankful I made it to 34 weeks, when cervix was shorting and all that at 29 I didn't know if this day would come. Went to a check up last week on Friday and ask Dr to check me, lots of pressure the night before/BH etc. She said I am 50% effaced and dilated, no measurement on dilation because she didn't want to push things along. Her comment was, you had your daughter at 36 we will see if you make it to 35. I'm 34 weeks today and was in and out of sleep last night with contractions for about 3 hours. I feel like this baby is coming soon.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Feeling excited for everyone!
Questions? Anyone else gone from completely constipated to going to the bathroom like crazy?
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat? I'm not coping, I'm angry every time I have to be out in it. The pool does help.
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Next appointment on 6/30. and then I am off on vacation!
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I am feeling really great and a lot of movement. My heartburn has been horrible the last few days so I am been very careful with my diet.
Questions? none at this time.
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat? We are lucky enough to have a pool so that has been great although it hasn't been too hot yet.
Weeks: 32
What's next: Doctor's appointment next Friday (July 1). It's just a checkup but I'm looking forward to it. Then I have an ultrasound at 36 weeks to check LO's position since she was breech.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: The fetal movement has really picked up again, which is making me feel great. I'm worried that it'll decrease again at my next shower though. The last shower I had she didn't move for 24 hours straight because I had to drive a few hours and was overheated and only got two hours of sleep. I have to do the same thing for the next shower so I'm a little nervous. Other thank that I'm just feeling the soreness of the third tri: pain and pressure in chest and unable to breath, hip pain, lower back pain, pelvic pressure and those awful hemmroids!
Questions? Does anyone else have chest pain and pressure? I know some is normal with the baby pushing up but it's starting to worry me. My doctor said she'd send me to a cardiologist just to ease our minds since my palpitations have increased too, but I'm not sure about going since I saw one right before I got pregnant and other than being diagnosed with PVCs he said my heart was fine.
GYKY: I cope with the heat by never going outside to avoid fainting and sitting indoors with the air conditioning cranked up. I also have a fan on my desk at work to help keep me cool.
Weeks: 32w2d
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Appt on wednesday which I'm really glad about. I've had some intense pressure, and watery discharge (sorry if that's tmi), so I'm glad I'll get a chance to make sure everything's still good. Especially since we're leaving for vacation next Friday!
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Just the normal complaints, my discomfort has definitely increased over this last week. I can't wait to be done with this move so I can really focus on this baby!
Questions?
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat?
It hasn't been too hot here in the Northeast, yet. My office is super air conditioned (I wish it was a little warmer actually!) and we leave our AC on at night since I get so hot while I'm sleeping. Since we live by the coast in CT, we spend most of our free time at the beach, and the water is definitely a good way to cool down! Investing in a couple of good maternity swimsuits was totally worth it!
Weeks: 33w2d
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): NST on Tuesday and an ultrasound Wednesday to check growth. I also have an appt to meet our future pediatrician Thursday, and the hospital tour and a relaxation class on Saturday. My dh is having a diaper party (guys will bring diapers and then go celebrate at the bar) Saturday night since his mom is having a girls only baby shower.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Dealing with the gestational diabetes has been not so much fun, and baby boy is so big I get tired standing for more than a few minutes now. But we had a family wedding this weekend and my family all made me feel a lot better by complimenting how good I looked. At my baby shower there were some comments about who was due first between me and my sister (she had her baby May 31st but she looked barely pregnant), so it was nice to have them notice I've been really focusing on being healthy and so has dh (he's lost 16 lbs in 3 weeks by doing the gd diet with me). I'm sorry any of you have also had to deal with not so nice comments, we're all doing our best and everyone should only say something if it's nice!
Questions?
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat? Staying inside a lot, but I also bought a misting fan this past week that I can carry with me.
To keep from completely losing it and being miserable from worry and over thinking I've just let go and have been praying for a healthy baby no matter when he decides to come.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
Work baby shower on Thursday over lunch, it's going to be Indian food--I'm excited! Meeting my new OB on the 30th since mine is now out preparing for her maternity leave.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
Had my non-work baby shower yesterday and it was fantastic!! So glad to see people and enjoy some time together ---great food and company. It made me feel really good and loved
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat?
I bought some long maxi dresses, some ice packs for home and the freezer at work, big bottle of ice water at my desk (thinking of getting a hydro flask), portable AC units at home and work and a mini fan at my desk. I also bought slip shorts so my thighs don't stick together under my dress---thinking of getting another pair. I still think it's going to be rough so I'm planning to start doing cool washcloths to by neck and chest once it starts really heating up. Also thinking of getting a kiddie pool or little basin for my feet after work I can fill with cold water. We've only had a few days here and there so we'll see how it goes.
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): growth ultrasound on June 27th, midwife appt on July 1st
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: heartburn has come back frequently, heart palpitations on a few occasions, and hard to breathe sometimes
Questions? None
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat? We bought a kiddy pool for home, and when I'm not working I stay inside. When I work (work outside) I try to drink as much water as possible, going inside frequently, or staying in shade.
@jacmkelley I'm a FTM so obviously I don't have experience with preterm delivery and the like, but I totally relate to the feeling of just pure relief to have gotten this far after our loss. 34 weeks still produces a lot of healthy babies! Hopes and wishes for you that your little one is healthy as can be, whenever he makes his grand entrance! I'll have to watch that birth announcement thread a bit closer now (not that my eyes don't instantly check to see if there's a new post there every time I get on TB)! Hopefully though, we'll all have a couple more weeks before we get any new birth stories!
@bananers, hoping you're lurking again! Speaking of birth stories, have you considered posting in the birth announcement thread on Emmett's due date with some cute updates? Hopefully he'll be home by then, and maybe life will be a little less hectic! I know we'd all love to see his adorable little face!
@JournoGrl23 I don't have heart palpitations, but Gavin's mom adjusts me every week to put ribs back into place that baby has moved! They're pretty excruciating at times. Is your chest pain more like a constricting feeling? I get that usually in conjuction with the shortness of breath.
@Bookhousegirl the lightning crotch has begun for me recently, and the discharge feels like it's really picked up, too. I woke up the other night feeling super damp, but I couldn't distinguish if it was mostly sweat or mostly discharge, because I get so hot at night when I'm sleeping. I'm a FTM, so I freak myself out a lot over trying to figure out what's normal in terms of that stuff. I know most all discharge is completely normal, but when it's so thin and watery, I can't get the idea that it's amniotic fluid out of my head.
Finally my check in!
Weeks: 34!
What's next? Midwife appointment tomorrow. One more and then they're weekly! It's crazy how the time is ticking by so quickly.
Rants/Raves/Positive vibes: my shower isn't until July 15th, when I'll be 2 days shy of 38 weeks. I'm afraid this baby shower will turn into a Sip and See! I'm getting kind of impatient, because I just want to be done cleaning and organizing and feel fully prepared for her!
GTKY: I second the "I'm not coping, I'm avoiding" route. I stay inside with the air on and complain anytime I have to leave the house. I hate the heat, I get heat rashes so easy. I'm outside for three seconds and my whole face is flushed and my cheeks are covered in red dots.
What's next? - I was so excited to skip my appointment and not have to go back until 34 weeks but now I'm anxiously awaiting our apt in two weeks to get an idea on size and position. Baby is kicking me on the left very far over!
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Feeling very large and out of clothes. I think by mid July I'm really going to be over it but who isn't uncomfortable in the last month.
Questions? None right now.
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat? I survived my trip to my ILs this past weekend. The house was cooled off before we got there which was nice but of course once everyone started coming it was super hot and we all moved outside anyways. I was happy to be home!
@Bookhousegirl I've been having the increased pressure and discharge, too. I told the doctor today and she immediately asked about any gushing and contractions.
Weeks:
32w1d
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
Had an appointment today and the doctor wanted to schedule an ultrasound for 2 weeks along with my next regular appointment. I'm excited for an ultrasound! We haven't seen her since 18 weeks.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
Positive Vibes to all! I'm hoping these headaches go away soon!! They've been unbearable and just started up again a few days ago.
Questions?
Anyone start measuring 4 weeks bigger in 2 weeks? At 30 weeks, I was measuring right between 30 and 31 weeks. Today, at my 32 week appt, I'm measuring almost 34 weeks. That's why she wants to do an ultrasound.
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat?
I hate life! Haha I've been trying to dress cool and have been staying close to air conditioning. It hasn't taken me long to cool down once I get out of the heat. Hopefully that stays the norm!
Can I post a FFC - I don't understand why when people are told there may be a risk because of an excessively large everyone immediately becomes an MD and dismisses it at inaccurate. However when a baby has IUGR or is small everyone is totally fine with inducing based on a small change in percentage of size. If an ultrasound is accurate to diagnose small size it has to be accurate to diagnose large size too.
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): had my first fetal nonstress test today. All looks good with placenta, fluid and baby's heart rate. It took longer than expected because the little rascal wouldn't sit still to establish a resting heart rate.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: excited for upcoming baby showers and to be near the 36 week mark (my OB says that this is a breath a sigh of relief marker). Could do without some family issues (see below).
Questions?
GTKY: Now that it's officially summer, how are you coping with the heat? we are having a heat wave here in Southern California, ugh. We don't have AC except in the living room, and that is old and not so effective. But we have fans thank goodness.
My father came out to visit from AZ for father's day and spent the entire time saying it wasn't 120 degrees out so not hot and I shouldn't be hot. He wanted to walk places - it is 98 degrees out, the baby has dropped, I am 34 weeks and my back hurts. He then used my difficulty with the heat/walking as an opportunity to criticize my weight. What every pregnant woman wants! I haven't even put on weight with the pregnancy but I still got 20 minutes of hearing about my weight. Thanks Dad.
@allishally13 I would just have to pay a copay to see the cardiologist, so maybe you're right and I should go in just to be safe and for that peace of mind so I stop worrying about it. I also have a family history of heart issues. Granted, it's mostly things that happen later in life like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart attacks. My mom did have a hole in her heart, though, but the doctors believe she was born with that, and she didn't show symptoms of it until her 50s. I'm not having the same symptoms as her at all. And even though the cardiologist gave me an all clear before pregnancy after diagnosing me with PVCs, I'd probably feel a lot better getting the all clear now that I'm pregnant and my blood volume has increased.
@liljabee I'm sorry about the comments from your dad. That was completely inappropriate of him!

@lgem4 I had to laugh out loud when I read your comment. DH is only 5'8" and we constantly make fun of his height. If she's anything like her brother, she'll be totally like her dad and we won't have to worry about her ever being too tall.
