double uterus

I just got back from my ultrasound to check on some pinkish blood I had last weekend.  The ultrasound tech found what appears to be 2 uteruses.  I found it to be quite interesting and wondering why I didn't know this before.  I have a 2.5 yo and he was born through c-section, so I'm surprised I wasn't told before.

Re: double uterus

  • Wow, that's interesting. Maybe one is situated behind the other one and that's why they didn't see it? I'm pretty sure I'll be googling this later.

  • Did you get to speak to a doctor at the appointment? I'm really surprised this wasn't discovered during your prior pregnancy and delivery. If you didn't speak to a doctor yet, I'd be requesting to ASAP and likely to an MFM if you truly have uterine didelphys.

  • Wow!! That's really rare. I've only known one other person with a double uterus. She said because of it, she couldn't have sex during pregnancy or she might get pregnant twice :s

I would question how she's ovulating while pregnant...

That makes zero sense. She could only get pregnant in each uterus during the same narrow window of time and only then if she ovulated from each ovary.

  • My friend has two. She carried her first on the left and now her new baby on the right! That's so strange your docs beer said anything before!
  • I didn't get a chance to see my dr today.  I only saw the ultrasound tech.  I go for my 10 week appointment on the 19th.  I can't wait to ask questions to see what she knows, lol

  • I think there's a girl on TTCAL with the same thing but I can't remember who.
i was thinking the same thing. I know I remeber reading her post about but have no idea who it is.

Personally I'd be calling my doctor sooner. A second uterus is not something an US tech should be diagnosing (at least around here).
I wouldn't necessarily need to be seen but I'd want my doctor to have reviewed the US.
