@depineta I voted for Bernie but I like Hillary too. I actually voted for her in 2008 primary against Obama because she was actually more liberal than him on some issues (I believe universal healthcare was one of them funnily enough). I'm actually really confused as to why she had so many supporters in 2008 and now the liberals all seem to hate her. I'm not sure what changed. Also, the Clintons used to be popular with both parties because of their liberal social stance but republican economic stance (deregulation). Again, not sure what changed except that she's been Secretary of State so she's been more prone to scrutiny?
My biggest pet peeve are the people who act like there's no difference between Hillary and Trump. Especially those who voted for Bernie! Boggles my mind.
@LGW2015 right! The differences are striking and the idea of a Trump presidency is terrifying. I realize she's not perfect bc no candidate is, and I would have supported Bernie if he won, but I legitimately think she'll be a great president!
Jumping in to say I like Secretary Clinton also. She's pragmatic, experienced and diplomatic, all things that are important in a leader. I think people hate her so much because she's been smeared by opponents for 24 years now and people don't remember where the accusations came from in the first place, so they just assume they're true. The younger liberals who support Senator Sanders weren't even born when she started being bashed, so maybe they don't understand that they're using Republican talking points from 20 years ago.
I am much less educated on the candidates than I should be. That said, out of the right wing, I am happier with Trump than the other candidates. I think he will be less effective at pushing his agenda and more likely to be lying about aligning with that party to get elected (i.e. his opinions expressed earlier were more liberal than those he expressed during this election cycle.) I've probably become more liberal than conservative by this point in my life, but there are still things that I agree with on both sides and things I DEEPLY disagree with on both sides as well.
My parents are Republican and *never* vote Dem. They hate Clinton so they will vote Trump. They hate him too tho (they like Kasich), so I asked why are they voting for him. They're honest answer: "Politicians hate him on both sides, so he will accomplish absolutely nothing. He can do the least damage." Sad when people have to vote for who they think can accomplish the least. Ugh
Even here in Tanzania people ask me about Trump and if his campaign is serious. Other people think he's basically already president. Even most Tanzanians can't believe he's doing so well, which is saying a lot because they're exposure is extremely limited.
@krzyriver that is sad Trump's ideas terrify me. While I *hope* they don't get achieved because at this point he's alienated both parties, I REALLY don't want to take that risk

I don't disagree about his lack of ability to get any changes passed. I'm far more concerned about our international relations being irreparably damaged due to his complete lack of respect for anyone. Can you imagine him lipping off to Putin? The guy just invaded a neighboring nation like it was no big deal (and the world has already forgotten about it). Scary

SO MUCH THIS. It gives me chills when people say "well I like him because he's not a politician." Seriously? If you are going to be the *political leader* of a country like the US, you MUST HAVE some degree of foreign policy understanding, and an ability to be diplomatic. There's no "YOU'RE FIRED!" in international negotiations. I will stop there but his entire campaign, everything about him utterly disgusts me.
And I think everyone is forgetting that there's this little thing called The Constitution. The U.S. is not a private company and the president is not CEO. You can't just become president and then do whatever the eff you want. I'm fairly certain Trump doesn't know this.

Agreed, which is why I'll never vote for him inspite of how I feel about Clinton. Repairing relations with other countries after a Trump presidency could take decades and I shudder to think what could happen in the mean time.
