This weekend we are going up to my grandma's house. She lives in the foothills in a pretty small community. Whenver I go up there it reminds me of my childhood as we spent MANY weekends there. We are doing a family reunion BBQ in the park with my dad and everyone else in the family on Saturday and will be returning home on Sunday so DH can spend Father's Day with his dad.
Besides drink and OITNB, we are having our weekly game night (because we are huge tabletop game geeks) and our lovely trip to Costco... Always a nightmare haha
Not sure yet. I know Sunday I'll be heading over to my mom's to cook out for Father's Day. Tomorrow I need to make the key lime cheesecake for said visit, but hoping to get some pool time in and throw back some beverages. I leave for Asia on Tuesday (again...fml) so I probably need to pack. Ugh.
I'm currently curled up under two blankets, even though it's 90 degrees outside, and considering taking a short snooze even though we have friends coming over in a couple hours and I definitely have to clean still....
And yesssss I will be having all the drinks this weekend! Which will most likely mess with my temps but damnit mama (not) needs a drank!
I posted this elsewhere, but I am posting here too because I need opinions on if I am crazy or not. Guys, My DH is being crazy. His sister is getting married September 29 (our anniversary, but that's a whole different story). It's a Thursday this year which is hugely inconvenient. I can easily get time off of work and was planning on flying down to LV, NV Wednesday and leaving back home Sunday. I've been keeping my eye on flights and today they are $150 for two adults round-trip! AMAZING! So I tell my DH I want to get tickets and he tells me he doesn't want to go till Friday, the day after her wedding and fly back Sunday. Uhm, seriously? So he would miss the wedding and basically just be there to say "hi" to them (since they aren't leaving on honeymoon till Monday). He is finishing up nursing school, so I get that he has classes, but he can skip one day (he only has classes Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays). I know he only has a limited number he can miss, but I'm only asking for one day. He can suck it up late if he gets sick. This is his freaking sister. I told him he could do whatever he wanted but since I had the time I was going down Wednesday. At least one of us should be there on the actual day. He got all mad that I wasn't "waiting" for him. Whatever. Then he told me he wanted to fly out from our city (instead of a larger, metro area that I planned to fly out of and where the cheaper flights are) and then he would fly back with me to the metro area. I checked, one way from our tiny city is 150! Plus the extra ~50 for the return flight with me. And he thinks this is acceptable! I don't. His choices mean we are paying a ton and he would only be there for two days! Not even a full two days, because the flight arrives late Friday evening and departs 1200 Sunday morning. So a day. one day. For $200. He is only working part time since he is a student, so I will be having to pay for this and I don't want to. I think it's crazy! Am I crazy???

@KristoB I hope this doesn't come off as rude but... Umm... what's the point of going down for the wedding but not going down for the actual wedding? I side with you. He's being crazy. Tell him if he wants to do it his way, he can pay for his own ticket.

@linzrunz Exactly! It's pointless. I get that he wants to visit and say hi to everyone since all the family will be in town, but geesh.
His mom and dad do live in Germany, so they will be in LV, so that might play a part in it, since they aren't exactly a quick flight away normally... but, really? one day is still not worth it.

@KristoB I do think it is a little strange to go for one day and not even the day of the wedding. But I also understand how nursing schools are like Nazis over rules and regulations. I had a friend fail a semester because she had to miss class one day because her toddler had to go to the hospital and since she had no friends of family in town she had to take him. No one else could. And then she ended up missing another class later in the semester because on her way someone ran a red light, hit her car and totaled it. She was able to provide proof that both events really happened and all that but the nursing school held to the policy on only being able to miss 1 class and failed her anyway though she was a straight A student. So like, because of stuff like that, all of us in nursing school tried our absolute best to never miss a class. That way if something unavoidable happened we'd still have our 1 class to miss. So I do get where your husband is coming from. Sure he'd probably be able to miss a day to go to the wedding and everything would work out. I mean really what are the odds of having a day you literally cannot make it to class? But still, I get his hesitation.
I don't think either of you are being crazy. I think you both have valid points. The part that really stands out as really strange to me is that he doesn't want you to go ahead and go in time to be there for the wedding. I totally agree with you there that at least one of you should be there for the actual wedding if possible.

We're going to the wedding of one of DH's good friends, of whom I am NOT a fan... But it's okay because there is supposedly an open bar!!
On Sunday, I'm taking my dad on a father/daughter date because we haven't spent any time alone together in YEARS! We're going to see out favorite baseball team play!

DH: 33 years old

@Maggie1202 That is so sweet to go on a date with your dad. What team are you going to see? I used to always take my dad out on dates just because. I should probably start doing that again...hmm...
@slavenski what do you cook up for two weeks worth? I hate cooking at the end of the night after work and the gym!
@Maggie1202 I'd go to anyone's wedding if there's an open bar luckily you don't have to talk to the bride and groom much and can basically just have your own fun!
Sooo random, DH just looked at me and said "What's your favorite pizza roll memory?" And I looked at him like ".... I don't consider eating pizza rolls to be added to my long term memory much less a "favorite" memory..." And then he goes into an explanation of the best day ever when he was a teenager and his friends mom kept bringing them unending plates of pizza rolls. It was the most random thing ever! He is such a nut...
@Schumerator, I'm making meatloaf, chicken alfredo, chicken noodle casserole, lasagna rolls, chicken and rice, and chicken pot pie. I make two nights worth of each, put them in 8x8 aluminum pans, and freeze them. They just get popped in the oven until heated because all the meat is pre-cooked. I'm horrible at remembering to defrost meat before I cook which results in a lot of takeout. Part of me coping while waiting for a baby is saving up as much as a can for a nice stroller lol
I have a pizza roll memory. It was at college and DH and I were just married right before my last semester. I was down in the dumps because he came here to Korea while I finished school so my bff and I had a wine night with pizza rolls. We even played the ground is lava in her common room. At 2 am I made more pizza rolls but as we discussed random things, forgot about them and they burned.
@KristoB I agree with you. DH is being cray cray. If school is REALLY an issue than I guess it's understandable. But I feel like getting that one day as an exception for his sisters wedding probably wouldn't be that difficult to swing. Tell him to hop off the crazy train and come back to reality! It seems insane to spend extra money to go down after the wedding has already happened. At that point you might as well not go at all.
@Schumerator I think what I love most about that story is the fact that your DH assumed everyone should have a favorite pizza roll memory since he has one.
@Schumerator I don't have a specific pizza roll memory, but I remember always going to my BFFs house after school and eating pizza rolls almost every day.
@KristoB - Did he actually give a reason on why he didn't want to go down on Wednesday? Does he have a project/paper/etc. due? Something else? All school is important and has rules, but Nursing school tends to be more strict. My school's rules were 3 days, and after that, if the teacher wants to fail you for missing class, they can with no questions asked. Whether you got 100s on everything or not. Being in Nursing school, I can understand not wanting to miss class unless absolutely necessary. God forbid he needed those number of days he could miss for an actual emergency. I guess my thoughts would depend on his reasoning for not wanting to leave Wednesday. If it's because of something school related, I can understand where he's coming from and empathize and may think he's being reasonable.
I have to be an adult tomorrow and clean and do yard work. Gross. I wanted to take the kids to the aquarium because we have an annual membership and haven't gone since we bought it. I am hoping we can maybe do that in the afternoon. Sunday we will celebrate my H and both our dads. I think we will stop by his dad's first and end up at my parents after to swim and eat.

@NamelessAria You do have a valid point. There is the one-day rule for clinical, which is what he would be missing. I think it irritates me more that he doesn't want me to go and that he wants to go Friday. I would think he wouldn't bother since he's gonna miss the main even anyway. And why can't I go early????
@AliciaGoose exactly! Why even bother going after the fact? So dumb. I get that they have strict rules, but it's his only sibling! I just can't believe he's totally fine with missing it.
@izza2 his point was because he has clinical Thursday. but that's the only day he'd miss so it's so crazy to me. I get that he can only miss once but it's his freaking sister's wedding! And even if he can't, he still seems to have a big problem with me going early. Ugh.

I didn't set my temping alarm last night (what a rebel, I know) because I was all like "I'm going to sleep in for once!" And then I woke up only 25 minutes after it normally goes off. FF didn't even yell at me with an open circle.
In other news DH and I bought things to redecorate our bathroom today, so I'm excited to do that. I need to clean my whole place first though because I've been a little neglectful these past couple months. And go to the gym because I promised myself I would go back today. And then we are going to the in laws to spend the weekend. There's a lot to be done so I guess the waking up early thing is ok. Sigh.
I have a baby shower today. My other friend and I split the cost and bought the high chair. It is huge, and sitting unwrapped in my living room. Any ideas on wrapping this bad boy?? Can I get away with just bows or something?
the rest of the weekend I don't have much going on. I'm getting my nails done this morning and tomorrow working from m living room and doing laundry.
@housewifehobbyist it is still in the box though unfortunately. I didn't know if I should take it out in case she needed to return it even though it was on her registry. I may just go to Michaels and get a big bow to wrap round the middle.
...and maybe buying clip-in extensions since I'm paranoid my wedding day curls will fall out like they did for my friend's wedding. I warned them I need 400 degree heat or it won't stay curled. Not sure if it's still from stopping BCP SEVEN months ago, but my hair is still falling out in larger amounts than I'd like and it used to be very thick. The girl who is doing my wedding hair already did a good job on the trial and I slept in the do to see how much abuse it could take. Fingers crossed! If anyone has real hair extension suggestions, let me know! My hair has never been dyed and is burnt sienna when I match it to those weird hair samples next to dye boxes. I get a lot of red hints in the sun in the summer, so it might be hard to match. Here's the back of my hair from the trial. Trust me, it's not currently as thick as it looks and I am taking Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamins.
@SandwichLover I bought a huge garbage bag-like shower gift bag at a dollar store, but the bow sounds fine! @AliciaGoose I am with you on the cleaning! My house is a mess during the school year and it drives both of us nuts. @KristoB Good luck! IMHO, you don't miss a sibling's wedding. My sister told me she wasn't flying from NV to NJ for ours because she was pregnant and hormonal and mad at me for no reason. Then she stopped working when she had her baby and said she couldn't afford it. I pretty much cried for months. I paid $800 for her and her sons to come because it meant so much to me.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@NYTino24 1. Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous!! 2. I'm sorry I don't have any advice about extensions because I don't have any experience with them 3. Same, especially at the end of the school year! When I get home I'm like please just let me sit here and veg out and not do or think about anything and 4. You reminded me that another thing I want to do today is get my hair cut!
@SandwichLover Is it possible to do one of those giant gift bags so that she can't see what it is but you don't have to attempt to wrap it?
@NYTino24 I'm assuming from your username you're in NY. Me too girl. Anyway, I got married in September and I bought the extensions from Sally's Beauty Supply. They were a bit on the pricey side, $110 but my bff had a membership card and they were having a special so I got them for $90. They stayed curled, in fact, when the rest of my pathetic hair drooped because it never holds curls, you couldn't really tell because of the extensions. Also, 9 months later they are still sitting under my sink...curled.
Because DH and I had such a trying week, the first medicated cycle was a BFN and we had to put our dog down, we're treating ourselves today! First we're going on a river cruise, and then we're hiking it out to the city line to try a burger place that was listed on "15 greatest hole in the wall restaurants to eat at in NYS". Very excited to be spending the day with him. He does so much side work in the garage for extra money when we he isn't at work that sometimes it gets lonely!
@SandwichLover I'm always a fan of a big bow on things. Wrapping that would be a pain I would think!
@mrsdaddario That sounds like a great day! You guys deserve it. Let us know how that restaurant is! I love trying places that are on some sort of "list" and supposed to be amazing
Soooo, how well do you guys think your body can absorb your PNVs, if at all, while only drinking wine and skipping dinner? Asking for a friend....
@mrsdaddario Ooo enjoy your day!! Burgers sound great right now.
DH is home after being gone for a week for work - so that's extra nice. This weekend is comicpalooza - a comic-con/sci-fi con. I don't really know how it happened, (I think a friend knows somebody) but there is belly dancing at the con and they have performances and lessons. Some of my students are dancing today - my choreography! It's super cool to think that something I made gets to be shared with the 'world' through some great ladies. It's also pretty special because it's the first full length choreography I've made. I get to go and watch them this evening - pretty stoked.
@TheJerilu I'm mildly upset that you did not use the word "wrasslin", but have fun!
hahah I actually had wrasslin typed up at first, but then the gif I found of Ciampa/Gargano was from WWE, not an indie promotion, and I was like "WHAT IF INTERNET STRANGERS ARE CONFUSED!?" Life is hard.
So I've been sleeping terribly lately. I wake up really easily and can never go back to sleep. I get up at 5:45 for work, but something always wakes me up between 4:00am and 5:15am and then I always just stay up. Weekends, anywhere between 6:00am and 7:00am and I'm up for the day. DH can sleep anytime, anywhere and that infuriates me sometimes when I'm just lying there awake.
This morning I woke up at 7:00am when he got up to use the washroom and obviously couldn't go back to sleep. I played on my phone for a while then decided to watch Netflix in the living room. Around 9:30 I felt myself getting sleepy so I went back to the bedroom and crawled into bed with DH who was still sleeping. I vaguely heard him get up a while later, but then I fell back asleep. The next time I woke up, it was NOON. Holy crap! Guess I needed it!

@MelissaM090 I know the struggle. My kid just started sleeping good at night. So I wake up every single time he used to wake up and I'm up for what feels like forever. Haha
@MelissaM090 I have the same problem! I wake up at 5:30 to temp and for work most days. On the weekends once my temp alarm goes off I can maybe fall asleep for another hour or hour and a half. DH can fall asleep at the drop of a hat and can stay asleep easily. Today after I made that post about being awake early, I actually fell back asleep and didn't wake up until 9:30 when DH came back from the dog park and had the dog jump all over me!
We're having a pretty relaxing weekend: oil change for my car, laundry, and we got the pup a frisbee last night, so H is trying to teach him to catch it. It's actually a pretty comical scene in my back yard. Church tomorrow and then to the in-laws for Fathers Day. My dad ended up sick this weekend, so we're going to celebrate with him next weekend.
All this hair talk makes me want to make some kind of change. My hair is dark brown and a little longer than shoulder length, and naturally curly, although I straighten it almost every day. Maybe I'll go back to curly for a while...

And yesssss I will be having all the drinks this weekend! Which will most likely mess with my temps but damnit mama (not) needs a drank!

Exactly! It's pointless. I get that he wants to visit and say hi to everyone since all the family will be in town, but geesh.
His mom and dad do live in Germany, so they will be in LV, so that might play a part in it, since they aren't exactly a quick flight away normally... but, really? one day is still not worth it.

Unfortunately, it's in the suburbs, and I'm the DD tonight, which is less fun than everybody being tipsy (or drunkkkkk).
Tomorrow partner's having his buddies come over, so we're going to grab burgers and beer before they all roll home and I derp around on my computer.
Sunday is whateverrrr.

I don't think either of you are being crazy. I think you both have valid points. The part that really stands out as really strange to me is that he doesn't want you to go ahead and go in time to be there for the wedding. I totally agree with you there that at least one of you should be there for the actual wedding if possible.

TTC since August 2018
@Schumerator I think what I love most about that story is the fact that your DH assumed everyone should have a favorite pizza roll memory since he has one.

I guess my thoughts would depend on his reasoning for not wanting to leave Wednesday. If it's because of something school related, I can understand where he's coming from and empathize and may think he's being reasonable.

Ugh.

Sigh.

the rest of the weekend I don't have much going on. I'm getting my nails done this morning and tomorrow working from m living room and doing laundry.
...and maybe buying clip-in extensions since I'm paranoid my wedding day curls will fall out like they did for my friend's wedding.

@mrsdaddario so sorry about your tough day. I hope today is wonderful for you
@mrsdaddario That sounds like a great day!
But it was a blast, even without beer.

All this hair talk makes me want to make some kind of change. My hair is dark brown and a little longer than shoulder length, and naturally curly, although I straighten it almost every day. Maybe I'll go back to curly for a while...
