Please help. What is this?

I didn't want to post on the newborn thread or try to read through all that and see if there was anything like this mentioned. So I apologize.. I was bathing Mila just a bit ago and she has developed a 3rd spot over night. Her first two appeared shortly after birth but we just thought they were birth marks. Now I think it's something else but have no idea what. They are very bright red and this newest one is slightly raised almost like tiny bubbles. I am starting to panic :( is this something you've seen before? Should I take her to the hospital or can it wait until next week and try to get her into the pediatrician? Sorry... FTM and this spot literally happened within the day.

    They're hemangiomas, strawberry marks, Pollie has three. They're pretty harmless and her pediatrician said unless near her eyes, mouth or genitalia they leave them be. They'll grow until around nine months old and by six or seven years old they'll go away!

    Ahhh, really? Ok well if that's what it is I guess it could be worse. She has a small one on her butt also and then the two there on her side. This 3rd one literally popped up out of nowhere. It wasn't there this morning. @NinnyJean

    That's how hers were too, they came out of no where. She has two on her stomach and one on her back. The one on her back is raised and spongy like, which the pediatrician said was normal.

    Cora has one on her back. Her dr said it'd probably be gone by age 2 or 3.

    My older son had one at birth and it went away when he was 1.5. The pediatrician will track them during their normal observations at every well visit.

    Hi ladies! It's been a while since someone posted on this thread but I was wondering if anyone who has an older child with a hemangioma could offer their opinion (I will of course also ask my doctor at the next appointment) my daughter has one on the top of her head - it was bright red but over the past week it has started to change colour to a greyish colour - I have read that this can be the start of it going away however my daughter isn't even two months yet so this seems early. I am hoping that it is indeed going to stop growing and start to fade - any one with experience? Thanks!

    Have her doctors been tracking that previously? My doctor told me to let them know if my LO developed any more especially if they were on the head or face.. But yes I've heard them changing in color means they're fading but I'm not 100%.

    Yes the doctor observed it at her one month appointment - we also had to go to a cardiovascular specialist for an unrelated matter and he said it was fine - I had just read that they start to change colour before starting to fade so I am hopeful this is the start of that :)

    My daughter has one on the top of her head too! Funny thing, I was just googling hemangiomas today! Good to know that changing color means fading!

    My daughter, now 6, was born with one on her back. Hers did the gray/whitish on top before starting to fade. It really faded in the last three years and now it's almost completely gone. They color could also change to a violet color so don't get too alarmed if that happens. These little spots are all that's left. It was about that size (between a quarter and a half dollar) before it faded
