My baby is 8 months and she crawls and stands up on things but sometime she falls and hits her head and cries for a sec or two and that's it but it has me worried because at least she falls 2 times a week and it just scares me

My little guy has started to crawl and falls about 2x a day when he can't figure out how to get over his crossed leg, even with surrounded by pillows. He always manages to whack his head on the floor. I just check for bumps and lumps and ice if needed and keep an eye on him. It happens. If he whacked it really hard and wouldn't stop crying or if his pupils looked off, then I'd take him to the dr.

  • My daughter is 8.5m.  She crawls, pulls herself up, and can climb the stairs.  She started pulling herself up before she figured out how to get down.  She bonked her head MANY times on our hardwood floors.  She has since gotten the hang of it...
  • I think that babies have to learn to fall safely, which might take some experience! My daughter is 9.5 months old, and she falls about 5 times a day. I just make sure that the surface she is on is not too hard. She now can stop herself from falling while seated, and can lower herself to sit down from standing. I always give her a thorough examination after she falls to make sure she is okay!
  • I think if your baby only falls twice a week, you're doing pretty good.  Babies are going to fall at this age.  They're learning to be mobile and trial and error is the only way they will learn.  Like @BrooklynBroussard said, the best you can do is make sure your baby's in a safe area to fall, not near sharp edges, etc.  Soon she will learn how to lower herself safely.  Then walking will happen and it's learning all over again!
