Re: TTTC Checkin 06/14/2016

• @Goldenkeys I just realized I'm not on the list! My diagnosis is PCOS and I am currently using Clomid 5-9

I had a positive OPK yesterday so we are in business! I expect ovulation today. We should have excellent timing this cycle, I hope with all my extra efforts on the side we will have a good shot. I also got offered a job today as a school social worker. It actually pays more than my agency job and the benefits are good. I am so excited to finally have summers off starting next year!

No good updates on my sister. She continues to be on full life support, it will be a month this Thursday that she coded. There is a family team meeting tomorrow with her doctors that my mom, step-dad and dad are going to. I decided not to go, I am so scarred they are going to recommend pulling the plug on her that I don't want to be there. I just keep listening to her old voicemail messages and crying, I don't know what things will be like if we lose her....TTC and my job search have been the only two things that have kept me going.

Friendship...I guess I value humor, someone I can laugh with.
TTC since May 2015 with domestic partner of 13 years. Me 33 OH 33. No ovulation or natural menstruation. Normal SA.
Diagnosed PCOS February 2016
First cycle 50mg Clomid 5/3/16, O'd CD 19 BFN
Second cycle 50mg Clomid 6/1/16 O'd CD 18 BFN
Third cycle Clomid 6/29/16 O'd CD 16 BFP @11dpo!
EDD April 3 and praying things work out!

@ducks&cats I'm so sorry for your sister...I can't even imagine....she continues to be in my thoughts

not much new yet...waiting for my CD 12 appointment which is this Friday to see if I can trigger and then schedule my IUI

for friendship- I value someone that can really listen...so often I'm the one that listens to everyone else when they are going through hard times but I have very few that will listen to me

• Hey everyone! I've been around this board for a few weeks but I'm just now joining check-in.

1. TTC since June 2015

2. Diagnosed May 2016 with anovulation. (Him - good, my tubes unknown)

3. Current treatment plan is 50mg generic clomid CDs 5-9 w/TI. (US CD 10 showed 2 follies |14 & 12(?)|, thin lining|2.45|. Using every home remedy possible to thicken lining and fx for bfp! BW Friday to check for ovulation.) OBGYN planning to add hormone for lining next round (if necessary). Super hopeful/excited knowing it's even actually possible. The "20% chance" feels like 100% more than the last 12 months! But trying not to get too high...

QOTW:

Loyalty. I need to know that despite my quirky/crazy- you'll be there (maybe even embrace it) and have my back! If you give me that - you have an ally for life. I'm loyal to a fault.

@Ducks&Cats, I'm *so* sorry to hear about your sister! I will be praying for your family. Congratulations on your new job! DH and I both graduated in SW (though I'm a bookkeeper now - DHS burned through me in 15mos). Fx for your bfp and best wishes!

@harleyquinn0621, good luck on IUI #1! May it be your first and only! *cheers!*

@meli123k, hope your follies smile big for you!

• @Ducks&Cats I'm so sorry to hear things have not improved with your sister. Praying for you guys that something good happens soon.

I'm struggling a lot right now and feel like I want to give up on TTC. AF started last week on Monday and she just won't go away and now I'm stressing that this will impact us starting stims next week. I'm feeling super isolated and like I have no one to vent to about all this which is just making the stress worse. I think the BCP I started last week is a big contributor to my anxiety and general sour mood.

We we have our IVF class tomorrow which I have been looking forward to but now I just feel anxious about going because I don't even know if we will start stims on time. I know I need to calm down and take a deep breath but I'm just struggling today.

Sorry for for the rambling and whiny post.

Friendship- I value loyalty the most. It's so hard to find people who will stand by you through the tough stuff. Also anyone that likes cats has a small place in my heart. :D

• Hi. I'm still waiting for the next cycle. Doctor thinks I ovulated, but I disagree. I just took a blood test and I'm waiting to find out if I'm pregnant. Which is the only other option.

I'm eating Keto again, so that should help.

QOTW: I value loyalty. I try really hard to be a good person, and understanding. Sometimes I fail, and I'm self centered and prickly. The people who are my friends and stay my friends realize that I make mistakes and I will always have their back, and I expect the same.

@ducks&cats I'm so sorry that your sister hasn't recovered yet; I can't even imagine the pain you are feeling. Is she your older or younger sister? I will say a special prayer for her tonight... I'm so sorry

@Worldtravler0522 I'm sorry TTC has been a struggle lately, BCP's are the worst. Hang in there, IVF is a game changer for most couples so you have reason to be hopeful!

@meli123K FX for strong follicles!

@wifeinraleigh28 I'm so sorry that the trial is a no-go, I'm super frustrated for you; It just isn't fair! *end rant* I'm glad you've been able to stay positive and know that you will finally be able to move forward.

Just started my TWW here, we had pretty good timing, but I didn't temp this month, so it was all based on OPK's
I've been trying to get a lot of horseback riding in, since I will have to stop IF we ever get KU so I'm trying to take advantage of the time I have. It's been such a great stress relief, I can't recommend exercise enough; especially an exercise routine that requires a lot of focus, like riding. It allows me an escape from my own anxieties like nothing else does :)

So many good friend qualities have been shared; a good listener, loyal... I think I would have to say available... my best friends are the ones I can call up and get together with at a moments notice, or who are good at planning regular chances to hang out. I guess quality time is my love language :)

• @Mythril we can for sure be friends haha. I have two but would love more, DH would divorce me if I got anymore. I may have considered getting cats that look similar to my current cats to try to trick him haha.

@ReesaAnne16 thanks for the encouragement. I think I let my hormones and emotions get the best of me today. I'm sure I'll feel better after our class tomorrow and I have to keep reminding myself that even if we are delayed its just a delay and that's all. Good luck with your tww!!

• @Worldtravler0522 I only wanted 1. I love cats but we live in an apartment. My mom gave me a cat as a housewarming gift and 3 weeks later she gave birth! Then we had another stray show up and have babies on our porch... twice. And then we had 3 more strays show up in various degrees of turmoil. At one time there were 15 cats. Oh my gosh it was terrifying! The fact that we got it down to six is truly a miracle. Well. Some of them it was just sad. Hit by cars. One had FIV and Feline Leukemia. That was hard. And scary for the rest of them. I wish that we could find them all good homes, though it would be hard. Right now we're focused on buying a house so they can be free to roam around and whatnot.

Anyway, in all we gave away 7, 3 died, 2 ran away. And we kept six. And we got 9 fixed. Oh man. We've been through some work. We've joked about opening a cat sanctuary some day.

• Hi ladies, CD 16 my OPK just went to "high" today so I'm hoping that's a good sign. However if it is an implantation issue like the new dr suspects then I guess it doesn't matter too much. I made an appt with the new dr when we get back from vacation in July.

@Ducks&Cats praying for you & your family
@Worldtravler0522 tomorrow will be a better day!

loyalty is my #1 - I am lucky to have a close group of friends that I grew up with. Even though I we're across the country they are like family
TTC since May 2013
Mild PCOS, Compound Heterozygous MTHFR
No Folic acid/pharmaceuticals/supplements (too many to list- private message me if interested), IVIL infusion
• I need to sleep lol, just drive by checking in. Hopefully tomorrow they will say I am ready to trigger, they had originally said today, but changed their minds, and I have to be up for my apt. in 2 hours...

@GoldenKeys can you please update mine? It hasn't been accurate for a long time, don't know if you missed my requests to change it. Dx is male factor and balanced translocation, current treatment is ivf with pgd testing on embryos.

TTC since 2011

• I'm so sorry @Ducks&Cats... praying for peace for your family  Congrats on the ovulation though and FX for your bfp this cycle :)

Thank you @ReesaAnne16 for your constantly checking in on me and being so supportive. I wish my DH had a support group like this because it always takes him longer to recover from disappointments and setbacks. But me? I come on here and feel so much better quite instantly :) Yay for good timing for you! Horseback riding sounds awesomely fun. I wish I wasn't so allergic to horses!

AFM, for those of you who didn't catch my update in the last check-in thread, the IVF trial is a no go and the whole thing has been frustrating and annoying. My update now is that we are going with my RE's original treatment plan for me. I'm taking BCPs now for 3 weeks, then will start stims after that. It's looking like a July egg retrieval, then PGS testing, and an August FET. Really hoping to be KU by the end of the summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (lots of exclamation points because that is the thought that is getting me through right now)

I think I value everything that's already been said about friendships. I'm going to add dependability to the list.

• Hello Everyone,

CD 9 for me and apparently I already ovulated sometime between CD 6 and 7. What the heck. 16mm Follicle on right hand side. Couldn't see left but my Estrogen was really high so they though I had another follicle on that side. Doc didn't want us to use the gonal-f this cycle so we chose not to do the IUI. Just TI.

@goldenkeys DX- mild MFI. Treatment- Monitored cycle with TI.

@ducks&Cats I am so incredible sad for you. I can't imagine how you are feeling! I will continue to keep your sister and you in my thoughts.

@harleyquinn0621 good luck with your IUI! May this be your one and only!

@meli123k hopeful that you have good follies!

@worldtravler0522 I'm sorry this has been a rough time for you! I hope you are able to do some more self care!

@reesaAnne16 fingers crossed that your 2ww goes by quickly and ends positively.

@wifeinraleigh28 I hope this is your summer!

• @Worldtravler0522 I hope you are feeling a bit better today! Some days things just seem dark and hopeless no matter how hard you try to stay positive...I'm especially down right before and during AF, as I'm sure most here are, and I try to remember that if I can just make it through those rough days I'll be able to focus on the next cycle and hopefully be able to stay positive for most of it. I hope everything works out and that you are able to start stims next week! Also I'm a huge cat lover too, and now that I think about it most of my friends are cat lovers...so there must be something to that, haha. DH wasn't exactly a cat lover when I met him, but he converted pretty quickly ;) Although he won't let me get another while we have our current three, he has mentioned that he would like to get sibling kittens someday (our cats tend to ignore one another so it would be nice to someday have a bonded pair)

@Mythril I hope your doctor is right and that you get good news soon! Wow, cats must be very attracted to you to keep showing up and having babies ;) That sounds exhausting though...our three are oftentimes a handful, I can't imagine 15!!! Thank you for helping them! It sucks that there are so many strays out there and not enough people to give them all homes. Good luck on your house search!

@ReesaAnne16 Good luck with the TWW, I hope you can keep yourself busy and that it goes by quickly!

@Starlight811 Good luck on your 5th IUI, I hope everything goes smoothly this time!

@lablover78 Good luck, I hope your new Dr. is able to give you some answers and the best support possible on your journey! Just curious, how would you be able to determine if you have an implantation issue? That's something I've wondered about myself.

@starlitfae I hope you are ready to trigger soon, and that you got some more sleep in! :)

@wifeinraleigh28 So sorry to hear that the trial didn't work out, that sounds so frustrating :( I'm glad you are able to continue right away with your RE though, and hope that you will get lots of positive and exciting news this summer! :)

@Plainjanie That does seem early for ovulation! Does the Dr. know why that might have happened? I hope TI does the trick and that you get good news this cycle!

• @zigzag8412 I'm on 50mg clomid too, and it has given me thin lining in the past so I'm also trying some methods to thicken the lining. Last time the RE put me on estradiol to thicken it, but I'm hoping maybe I can get it better this time and avoid the extra meds. What home remedies are you trying? I found out about POM juice a couple days ago and started drinking that and have been drinking raspberry leaf tea as well...will see soon if it makes any difference! Good luck!

• Good afternoon everyone!

DH and I are on cycle 11 post loss but have been TTC for 2.5 years. Currently I'm on CD 11, crossing my fingers for O, and temping for the very first time. I got a false positive on an OPK last month and I think that really kicked my butt into gear to start doing something more dependable. I'm clueless on CM and cervix checks but maybe I'll look into those more if this doesn't work.

QOTW - I think the one thing that sets my best friend apart from the others is her thoughtfulness. She's always the one to send just bc cards or thank you notes and she always remembers everyone. She's the best!

@Ducks&Cats I'm so sorry about your sister. Praying for a miracle for her and your family

• I should probably have myself added to the list. I kind of have been waiting until I see my new gyno as I haven't had any testing done as of yet, but I can update that later I guess.

1. How long have you been TTC? 14 months

2. What is your diagnosis? none yet

3. What is your current treatment plan? nothing currently

@ducks&cats I am sorry about your sister. I can't even imagine. *hugs*
@Worldtravler0522 Hope you are feeling better today. On a side note, cat lovers unite! DH and I have one and I am not allowed to have anymore :( Two of his brothers-in-law, and a niece and nephew all are allergic to cats. Once my kitty is gone I am banned from having more so family can actually come into our house when they visit.
@wifeinraleigh28 I am sorry the trial didn't work out.

As for me, not much to report this week. Still in the TWW but I think that will be ending soon. I have been feeling pretty edgy, irritable, and just down right cranky today. I've also been getting that bloated feeling so I am pretty sure AF should be hitting tomorrow.

12 days and counting until I meet with my new gyno and get this ball rolling so I can hopefully start getting some answers.

• @GoldenKeys - My doctor recently switched me to a combination of Menopur and Gonal-F, but that was unsuccessful. Currently awaiting a meeting to determine what the next line of treatment will actually be.
@Ducks&Cats - Congrats on your positive OPK! It's the little successes that count and it definitely sounds like you have a great shot! GL! Also congrats on the job as a school social worker! I'm a social worker currently in child protection and am looking to get into the school board as well. Again, I am so sorry about your sister...and I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts always. I can't even imagine how difficult that must be.
@harleyquinn0621 - GL with your IUI! Hope you can trigger tomorrow!
@meli123k - Sending thoughts of big follicles your way!
@zigzag8412 - Hoping that all of those remedies worked and I am so glad that you are feeling hopeful! GL with your cycle!
@Worldtravler0522 - Never be sorry for venting. That is exactly what this group is here for. I am incredibly sorry that you are feeling this way, it is so disheartening when things are not going according to plan, and it is so hard not to feel lonely when no one really understands what you are going through. Sending you the most positive of vibes and lots of love and luck! <3
@Mythril - Hoping for a BFP! I've also just started eating keto again and I am hoping that that helps me as well!
@ReesaAnne16 - GL in your TWW. That is such a wonderful idea. I've also been trying to take advantage of things I wouldn't be able to do if we got KU, and I find that it does help sometimes. Horseback riding sounds wonderfully soothing.
@Starlight811 - So sorry to hear your last 2 cycles have been cancelled...I am currently in that boat as well, GL with this cycle, it is sounding promising!
@lablover78 - That sounds like a good sign to me...fx that it is!
@starlitfae - Hope they were able to trigger at your appt this morning!
@wifeinraleigh28 - I approve of all of your exclamation points, and I will add some for you!!!!!!!!!! I really hope that you are KU by the end of the summer, and I really hope that this next treatment plan is successful. So sorry again about how frustrating the IVF trial was.
@Plainjanie - GL with this cycle and I hope that the TI worked with your ovulation timing! FX!
@SoonToBeMommaHowe - GL with this cycle and with O! It sounds like you have had a long difficult journey, and I truly hope that things are more positive for you moving forward!
@hoffmanr7 - GL in your TWW, or with your new gyno appointment! I'm currently awaiting answers myself!

Update:
Not much has changed...my cycle has been cancelled, with another appt scheduled with our FS on July 5th after he consults with a team of doctors about our case...so just waiting (story of our lives right friends?). I think I am going to buy some OPKs for the first time...just in case we maybe have the slightest chance this month on our own (although it is doubtful) and I'm going to start testing tonight. I've never actually done it before because I just did cycle monitoring.
Although not exactly TTTC related, I also started the ball rolling on adoption, and we are looking at attending an information session in Sept/Oct (everything is such a long wait)...but at least it helped me feel like I was moving forward.
Financially and emotionally I am feeling drained, but I am trying to be positive, and more realistic about the whole situation taking longer than we had expected when we first started treatment. Staying hopeful for our meeting on July 5th and still trying in the meantime.

QOTW: Someone who listens without judgement, is there when I truly need them, and someone who I can laugh with

• @StephyM89 I'm so sorry to hear your cycle was canceled, I can only imagine how frustrating that must be. The waiting is the most maddening part of this process for me. Thank you for the word of encouragement, having people who get it is so incredibly helpful!

@hoffmanr7 maybe you should get a replacement kitty that looks exactly like your current one to switch when the time comes. I'm slightly kidding...

@meli123k thank you so much for the words of encouragement, they are so appreciated and so helpful! Also I love that there is another cat lover on the board

@Mythril oh my goodness, I can't believe how many cats have crossed your path! You should open a cat cafe! :)

@plainjanie1 & @lablover78 thank you for the words of encouragement they were very helpful!

Small update- I broke down and emailed my nurse to ask about my endless period because it will give me an answer and that will help me find some peace. I just keep thinking omg I won't start on time or what's going?? Am I normal? I'm sure she will email me back and say you're fine but I will rest easier knowing.

I also keep telling myself regardless of whether my cycle is pushed for a month or two while my body gets it's crap together I will be fine and IVF will still happen. We had our IVF class tonight and that got me even more excited for the process! I'm hopeful we start on time as planned but prepared for whatever may come. Thanks again for the kind words and encouragement!

@Worldtravler0522 I am sorry to hear you're having such a hard time, I hope at least the nurse gave you some information to make you feel better. Take care of yourself - this is definitely a difficult process sometimes

Not much to update this cycle, but the reality of our journey TTC is starting to set in. We put on a huge out of state event for work every July and when we started TTC last summer/fall I figured I wouldn't go because I'd be too pregnant to want to make the 8 hour drive and my job is pretty physical, it would have been too much. So I'm feeling pretty bitter about going in 3 weeks, even though I love this event and the location is gorgeous. But DH just decided to take some vacation time and drive out there and stay nearby, and my boss is going to let me drive and stay with him instead of going with the the rest of the group. I love my co-workers, but I have a feeling this is going to be a rough trip this year.
• @jojomama25 that's great you get to drive with DH. It might be nice to get away from all the noise at home for a few days, I know it's helped me during this process. I get the angst of having to attend something you had mentally checked off your list for the year. Hope you guys are able to relax a little even though it will be for work!

@meli123k @Plainjanie
I've put myself on basically everything I could find:
hot foods (avoid cold), red meats and red veggies, pomegranate juice, red rasp leaf tea, 81 mg asprin in the morning, Omega 3 and vitamin E at night, a caster oil heat compact at night (coat lower belly in thin layer of caster oil, cover with wash cloth and keep heating pad on low/medium heat for 15-20 minutes-not after BD!). I also use Young Living Essential Oils and have their Progessence Plus oil that I use in the morning and at night. (In theory it's comparable to a progesterone pill.) All of these are basically with the goal of slight thinning of the blood and drawing it to the pelvic area. Another member suggested daily orgasms as well.

• @meli123k I purchased a large bottle of castor oil off of amazon and I went to my local thrift store and bought a cotton flannel pillow case and cut it in half. I placed half into a glass storage bowl and soaked it in the oil. so its not dripped but it is saturated. I also bought a hot water bottle from walmart. I put the castor oil soaked flannel on my lower belly covered with a plastic bag and then the hot water bottle for 40 minutes, then my upper belly for 10 minutes and over my liver for 10 minutes. Regardless if it actually helps, I love getting the big couch (DH usually gets it) and getting to lay there for an hour doing nothing.

@zigzag8412 how do you use your essential oils and where did you get them?

• @Plainjanie, my mom got me into young living essential oils about a year ago. You can get them off of their website but you do have to have a "membership" (which just means you have to sign up and spend $50/year to stay "active" - which isn't hard). They are a bit pricey, but if you're a crunchy lover like myself, they're definitely worth it. I think a bottle (which lasts 2-3 months) is about $50. I use two drops in the morning and two drops at night (both on the back of my neck).

• @meli123k I know my doc indicated the first thing he was going to do was blood testing looking for inflammation in order to see if there is evidence of an implantation issue. He also suggested I do a 23&Me kit b/c the results could be useful to him. I'll keep you posted on anything else he does. He was an interesting guy- sort of arrogant but clearly intelligent. He said my previous RE basically did what he learned to do in 1987 & he would be doing a lot more work up before ordering any standard protocols which I did appreciate. I don't want to spend the money on IVF without really knowing if my body will actually accept a pregnancy.

• Thank you everyone for your support in regards to my sister. Things are stable for now, she is able to be woken up for short periods of time even thought she can't talk. I am going to see her today and they are going to wake her up so I can talk to her.

@meli123K, @zigzag8412, @Plainjanie You have given me some new ideas for thickening my lining. I will definitely try pom juice next cycle and maybe adding essential oils. Right now I am doing castor oil pack first half of cycle, one cup raspberry leaf tea a day, extra evening primrose first half of cycle, daily low dose asprin and some blood building herbs my acupuncturist sold me. Hopefully our efforts work!

StephyM89 I am so sorry your IVF was cancelled, that is incredibly disappointing. Good luck with your upcoming appt and exploring adoption. I have started googling stuff about adoption but haven't given it serious consideration.

@lablover78 how would the results of 23&me be helpful? I am definitely looking into that.

• Hi! Just starting on this board.
1. How long have you been TTC? 11 months, 7 cycles

2. What is your diagnosis? I don't have a diagnosis. I have been tested for PCOS and Cushing's and don't have either. I just had an RE consult yesterday.

3. What is your current treatment plan? Right now we are starting with a testing cycle with 100mg Clomid as soon as my next cycle starts (which should be next week)

• Well, the trigger happened, and DH wasn't hesitant like he was last time, so it didn't even hurt. I found out that they held off to try and five me extra time to mature. They were hoping for 12 eggs and got 11, so already I'm ahead of the 9 we got last time. If the numbers work the same way as last time, we will hopefully end up with 4 embryos, and then the biopsies will be sent off for testing!

QotW - honesty. Even just being honest on whether you want to hang out. I have a lot of friends who I constantly make plans with and they "forget", which is maddening.

@StephyM89 - if you're like me, just having a backup plan (the adoption) makes all of this easier. DH and I finally decided that if this didn't work, we would move to iui with donor sperm. It's a hard decision to make, but at the same time it makes all this craziness easier and I'm not panicking this time. So what I'm trying to say is yay for the adoption meeting. I hope it goes well, and I hope the fact that that option is open makes ttc less stressful.

• @GoldenKeys I have been TTC 8 months, I have PCOS and I'm currently on my first round of Clomid 50mg. If I start my period on my own, I'm going to try 50mg again, I'm starting to see a chiropractor and will decide on seeing an RE soon. Happy to be here!

• Hope everyone's week picked up!

Today is officially halfway through my TWW. Impatience is kicking in.

On a creepy note:
On Thursday my office manager pulled me aside, said "can I ask you a personal question" then asked if I was knocked up. I said no.
She said she must have "read something wrong" then wouldn't tell me what the "something" was.

I was pretty wigged out!
