quick question: those who took a breastfeeding class, did you bring DH with you? I would like him to go in case I miss something and to know how he can support me but he's concerned about being the only male or making the other ladies uncomfortable.

@Heathereaddy DH did come with me but he felt uncomfortable and there was only one other guy there.

My husband came and every single woman there had her partner there as well. AND my husband said it was the most helpful of all the classes we did.

@Heathereaddy My class is tomorrow night so I'll let u know how it goes

but i actually called the instructor and asked her about this. She said she strongly recommends that your partner attends and at her classes, at least half of them do. If you can, i would call the place you're going to and ask the norm just so your H will feel comfortable ahead of time knowing what other couples do.

Thanks ladies! Mine is actually tonight and DH just mentioned his concern. I should have called earlier but I didn't think about it. He's going to go to support me. Hopefully they'll be other guys and he won't feel too weird.

@Heathereaddy my husband came, all the partners did. The instructor highly recommended they attend all classes if possible.

@Heathereaddy I didn't bring my husband with our first child but I wish I had. There were so many dads there and I feel like he would have been more supportive with the info given.

@Heathereaddy we went to ours last week and I brought my husband. All the moms brought the dads and they were the ones that had the most questions!!!

Doing final cramming and studying for my licensure exam tomorrow. I've been passing my practice exams but you never know what they will throw at you in the real one. Hoping it is more kid focused versus adult and group therapy focused.
Just trying to remember why in the heck I thought two weeks before my due date with full pregnancy brain, restless legs and now Pupps was a great time to take the biggest exam of my career thus far?!

I really wish I had made mine come. Our teacher explicitly named several things that dad should be doing to help make this easier. Including changing the diaper and getting baby ready for skin to skin before you breast feed.

if you're husband is anything like mine, he takes direction and being told he had to do things better from people besides me. I think hearing it from a nurse would have been better. I think he believes I'm just using this as an excuse to get him on diaper duty.

So not the same thing, but I had a second interview for a job we really need this morning. Tomorrow is my last day before my leave starts, and I too was questioning why I thought 2 weeks before my due date, on my 2nd last day of work, when I've clearly totally checked out, was a good time to do this interview, but I think I nailed it and I'm sure you will too!

I'm with you all in that I'm finished with this work situation.... I want to send a formal complaint to HR about the company's lack of maternity leave policy beyond FMLA, but I don't want to ruffle any feathers. Then again, I want it on the record that people think this is bullshit. Also, I HOPE I start going into labor at the office, because then I'm going to march right into our VP's office and ask him to drive me home. Well....that's what I dream of doing at least. Unfortunately I don't think I have the guts to do it

I'm on the over being at work bandwagon. First thing the board runner asks me this morning is if I can stay late tonight because she is stretched thin. Um. No? This is one of the days I'm actually not scheduled to work late and I have plans. So now she'll have me running all over doing random crap as punishment. We have a few people who work 10s and 12s and will have a day or two off each week accordingly. I will work late and get no days off. So nope. I've been super crampy the past few days and I am over being here.

My husband and I went to the CHP this morning to get one of the car seats installed. I feel so much better now that we got that done! I feel like I'm so behind on everything. Up next: washing those baby clothes and finishing those never ending thank you cards. Sigh.

I think I could better communicate with a tribe of Aborigines than I can employees of our state disability department. Between them, and my boss that completed my disability form.....I'm not sure who I dislike more right now! Close second are the Babies R Us people who STILL can't figure out how to correct all the endless earning items not being calculated!

@TiffRox81 I hope you have better luck with Babies R Us than I did. It took six phone calls and almost two months for them to tell me that there's nothing they can do to help me. It was so frustrating, especially because they talked up the Endless Earnings program so much at the registry event.

Today's been the longest day of my life. No one seems to be wanting to conduct any banking business, so here we sit ideally. This is much better than being busy but I am slightly bored. And I think I have an ear infection, so I'm going to doctor's care after work and I so don't want too.
