DD's birthday is like 5 weeks after we expect baby. I really still want to do a family party, but don't know how realistic that is. Maybe push it back a few weeks? She will be 2 and is the only kid in the family right now, so I know everyone will want to celebrate her. She also has a pretty good idea about birthday parties, cake, balloons, etc. Wondering if I should start planning before baby comes or just wait and see what we feel like doing later...hmm. Anyone in/been in a similar boat? What's your plan?
Sounds like mine, @Shelby00519. My older dog has been barking at imaginary noises and sticking close by when we are outside, more so in the last month than before. My other one is admittedly dumber than a post and hasn't changed a bit. He's very sweet but his bulb is quite dim.
My dog has been on soooo on edge lately. She's a chihuahua so she's always yappy but the past week it's everything setting her off. If I put something in the sink wrong and it makes a noise she's yapping like crazy, last night she woke me up barking because there was a moth in the bedroom. Anyone else animals acting weird?
My dogs respond to my pregnancy by becoming jumpy, clingy, and whiny. I feel like I have three toddlers plus am pregnant. I love them, but they are very challenging right now (and 60lbs each, which can be overwhelming when they are constantly underfoot and needy).
@Shelby00519 My two are increasingly more barky the further along I've gotten. We have been working on shhhh being for them to quiet down and it's working but I've yet to actually get them to stop. They are perfectly quiet for my husband still

My dog hasn't been any different but my one cat has been unusually clingy. She follows me around the house constantly crying at me. She wants me to just lay down and pet her all day every day.

I'd personally wait and see what you're up for (how elaborate or simple of a party). But perhaps pick a date now-ish so people know ahead of time. At 2, cake, ice cream, a few balloons, and some close family members will be all she needs and most likely cares about. That'll be easy to throw together and easy to ask for help with.
Ladies...I got my foot stuck on the bathroom counter last night. Stubbed my toe and instead of reaching all the way down to my foot to fix the nail I put it up on the counter. No problem! Until I realized that I didn't know how to get my foot back down and had to have DH come help me...

My dog has been the quite opposite, he has been barking less, but is super clingy/protective. For the past couple of weeks, he follows me into the bathroom and stares at me as I shower. So strange.
My oldest kitty has been following me around meowing at me and whenever I settle in to watch tv or read he's right there next to me on the couch. All. The. Time. There's been times too where people came over and tried to sit with me and him and he bit or growled. Of course I didn't like the girl and he probably felt me tense when she came in but still. He's not done that before
My "baby" cat is being especially kitten like lately. But my dog and other two cats have been avoiding me lately. The few dogs I'm still pet sitting are always extremely curious and want to smell and lick my belly a lot. They seem more excited than my own. I don't know if they can really tell the difference or if it is all just a coincidence.
@samantha1206 my cats have been the same! They're soooo needy lately. They're sensing something. Sometimes when I'm on couch they're both trying to sit in my lap. Not easy these days with this ginormous belly.
My neighbours have this cute little dog that they leave outside all the time so MH and I make a point of going over to pet him when we're outside (also to shut him up because now he's learned and whines until we go say hello. Our fault) and he used to jump all over me but the last 2 or 3 weeks when I get there he either rolls onto his back immediately and exposes his belly, or he stays really calm and just licks my hands. He still goes crazy with MH though. I swear animals can sense this stuff.

We are in the same boat. DS birthday is Aug 8th and he will be 2. We are planning on doing a small get together at my moms (she has lots of space) and not be too fussy.
We've been laughing that my dog suddenly wants nothing to do with me. The only time she is at all interested is when I'm in the nursery working on stuff---she comes in, lays on the rug, and stares at me with a worried face. I think she's afraid we're getting a puppy.
I think I have only posted once this entire pregnancy. I am not good at the whole social media thing, but I do enjoy reading. SORRY (I'm that girl) With that being said, I have 2 dogs and 2 cats at my house that currently want nothing to do with me, they completely have stopped listening to me. However, my MIL lives .5 mile from my house where and we go there to feed horses. The one horse that my husband has had many many years always comes running up to me to lay his head on my belly.. I definitely think that animals know and that mine are all just assholes right now.

Yes! My cat is being so weird! But I don't know that it's so much my pregnancy as that he's finally feeling better - first he was sick for a week, then he hurt his paw, so he was laid up for a couple of weeks. Now that he's back to himself, he's extra energetic and playful (which I'm super happy to see!) but he's also unusually clingy and vocal. He wants constant attention but he won't stay still long enough for me to cuddle with him. He cried outside my bedroom door for an hour this morning even though he knows he's not allowed in there. He's currently stalking birds in the backyard so I can have a break
Yep my dog is in the weird boat too. Part of it may just be that I'm home now that I'm done with work, so it may not be totally pregnancy related, but she gets really antsy and follows me around everywhere when I'm doing chores or whatever. Except for rare days like today, when she is completely ignoring me. She picked a great day for that because I have a lot I want to get done and she drives me nuts when she's clingy while I'm trying to get crap done! She's too big for that nonsense!

@whataboutscience If it were me I would decide when to do the party after your LO has arrived, just so you can play it by ear and see how you are feeling. You could always do something on her actual bday (cake, gift) and have the bigger family party at a later date.
My DD's birthday is a week before Christmas and we have never had her party near her actual birthday, always 2-3 weeks early so it's not close to the holidays, and now that she's older we let her choose someplace special to go to for dinner on her actual birthday.
I'm breathing a HUGE sigh of relief right now. My insurance rep FINALLY called me back and gave me great news. When my son was born, insurance was out of friggin control and we put him on his own plan to save money. The rep just told me that I could add him AND the new baby for the same premium with a better plan. Thank you LAWD!
@HenchBytch I was freaking out about that too, but that has been one positive to Obama care - it's now per person and not that flat dependent rate. Supposedly that's what's decreased the cost for dependents. At least that's how it's been explained to me for California plans!
@TiffRox81 This is through my job so I figured they would find a way to screw me over and I would have to call a rep with healthcare.gov. Thankfully I no longer have to worry about that!

That's awesome! What a huge relief this close to the end of pregnancy when there is so much more to worry about!
Apparently I am telling what the doctors/techs what to do. LOL They forgot to schedule my 34 week growth ultrasound. I emailed them to on the portal last night to ask "didn't you guys mention I'd get the growth scan at 28 weeks and again at 34"? Mind you I was JUST there on Monday for my routine 10 minute bi-weekly appt. to hear baby boy's heartbeat. 4:45 today now SMH
I've been working on my L&D playlist the last week or so. Even if I end up hating it, not using it, etc etc, I'm enjoying listening to it now. Perfect combo of all my favorite chill music from forever.

Today I'm waiting around all day (literally 7a-9p) for the Fios person to fix our cable and Internet. So I've been productive. I installed the car seat, wrote my shower thank yous and will now do all the baby (and our own) laundry! It's amazing what can be done without technology.
Speaking of car seat, I'm planning on leaving the actual seat in the house and leaving the base installed (using the belt so it's not a super fast install). DH is not staying at the hospital with me so he can grab the seat when it's time to go home. I'm 36+2....is that too early? I've never been so paranoid about getting in a car accident!
@sboston06 I just installed mine at 37 weeks and honestly wish I'd done it a little sooner because I wanted to get it checked out by a car seat inspector and all the ones in my area are booked out for a month! Luckily there's a drop in time this weekend but I wish I'd given myself more time for that.
My DH is completely convinced this baby will come on his birthday....this Saturday. As much as I would be ALL for that, that would be 2 weeks before the due date and I have had zero impending labor symptoms, so highly unlikely. He's so set on this that he won't give me ANY ideas for celebrating his birthday and it's two days away!! I need to make plans! He's just doing this to avoid birthday celebrating, I know it. Grr.

Last night I was sitting on the couch and I started flipping through channels. My husband looked over and said, "what are you going to do when your shelf is gone?" I looked him like he was crazy and then looked down to see that I had placed my phone on my belly. I giggled because I had no idea I had even done it.
@sboston06 we are leaving the actual seat in the house as well - we have two vehicles, each with a base installed. I don't want to put the seat in the car just in case somebody else takes me in or DH meets me at the hospital, I'd hate to have the seat in the wrong car. Not that we wouldn't have time to go get it in the days before discharge, I guess. I'm 37+3, I don't think you are too early at all.

I installed mine at 33 weeks mainly because I had a free weekend and had time to install it and get it checked. I have the actual seat in my basement right now and just keep the base in my car for now.
We put ours in at 35/36 weeks and it was a pain in the ass. My husband doesn't have lower anchors in his truck and the dealership has yet to get back to me about installing some. The car seat tech I took it too was an absolute idiot and reinstalled our correctly installed base, wrong. She didn't lock the seatbelt and now I have a crazy amount of wiggle room. So now we have to do it again and I'm not happy about it.
@HenchBytch mine asked me what I'll do without my little shelf, too. I will also miss the entertainment value! I like seeing how many things of different shapes/sizes I can balance
I just got back from the 34 week growth ultrasound (34+4 today). LO is measuring 4lbs 12oz and 33% percentile...he is SO tiny but he's a strong little nugget I hope he can grow some more in the coming weeks! I'm so in love with him

@sboston06 My doc recommended 4 weeks pre-EDD? I'm sure you're on time with your installation!
