Re: Genetic Testing, yay or nay?

  • We will not be doing any screenings, and we haven't with our other two pregnancies, but I appreciate all of the viewpoints and personal insights!

  • My insurance won't cover the testing. So frustrating consider one of my MMC was due to a genetic disorder. It wouldn't change my pregnancy plans, but as a nurse, I want as much information as I can get. Plus the peace of mind.
  • Sorry @gapeachrn. That is really frustrating. Did you speak with your doctor about it? Or just the insurance company directly? Can you pay for it out of pocket, or is that not an option?
  • @LoneStar21416 I spoke with both about it. My insurance doesn't seem to have much coverage for infertility and early testing. I can't pay out of pocket. Already paying full price on my progesterone gel until 12 weeks.
  • @gapeachrn I was hoping that was just a blow off answer from the insurance company and your doctor could justify it based on your history. I'm angry on your behalf. It really is such a shame how infertility and pregnancy loss are treated by many insurance companies in the US.
