I am taking the gummies, and for the same reason- the pills are giant and made me throw up whatever I just ate! However... I am thinking of going back now, as it's been 2 months eating the gummies every day and I am siiiick. of. them!!!!! Seriously. They were so good in the beginning! But it would be like eating 2 of the same skittles (etc) every single day for months... You just can't stand the taste after a while.
I do now too. Theyre twice the price but are enjoyable somewhat compared to pills. Plus they dont make me feel nauseated. Win. I didnt ask my doctor about them yet, but i usually trust Wegmans brand everything. Hehehehe
I took them my last pregnancy and I'm taking them now. They get boring yes but I would gladly deal with that rather than the horse pills that are prenatals. I never had any trouble my last pregnancy and DS was born at a healthy 7 pounds 15 ounces.
From what I read most the gummies don't have the necessary amount of iron in them. My iron runs on the low side naturally so I'm forcing myself to take the real pills
That's right also- I have to take a separate iron prenatal (smaller pill thank goodness) along with the gummies. The gummy version typically does not have iron or calcium.
I take the gummies and they have DHA. They don't have iron and I asked my doc if I should take a separate iron pill (I am horrible at taking pills, plus they had made me sick before) and she said no need. My sister has low iron levels and found some pills that are slow release so they don't bother her stomach, so that's another option.
I've taken the gummies in the past, my OB has no issue with them. On the other hand, both pregnancies I've taken them, I've also broken out in a weird rash (that goes away once I stop). Both my PCP and OB think there must be something I am allergic to in them (like a filler). Its just weird, because I can take regular women's gummy vitamins and be fine. Just a heads up.
So my Dr's perspective is that prenatals are most useful before you even get pregnant, and that folic acid is the only really important part anyway. At my first appointment, he said that it's fine to take prenatal vitamins but don't spend too much on them--he actually suggested that I just take a gummy and eat well. (I know Dr's perspectives will differ--I trust my Dr and he seems to be very up to date with the research). At that time,I felt fine and didn't mind the pills, but I was very happy to switch to gummies after 8 weeks as I started feeling so grossed out by the pills.
I am currently taking gummy vitamins with DHA, Extra vitamin D in gummy form, 5x Folic Acid and my Epilepsy meds. Praying so hard and putting so much faith in my OB and Neurologist that all this pill popping is for the best health of my baby boy. They had no issues with the gummy form, although I did get tired of the sugar coating and just purchased a pill form prenatal at Costco.
yup. took them last pregnancy and this one with the approval of my ob. last time I also took an iron supplement that I was taking pre-pregnancy but I haven't been this time.
