@kenglish1 my office did abdominal (with full bladder) and vaginal for both of mine so far (6w 2d and 8w 2d). They were able to see baby both ways. It probably depends on your office and how good the equipment is. If they don't ask you to come to the ultrasound with a full bladder early on then you are probably having a vaginal ultrasound.
Cletus the fetus measured at 7w5d (2 days ahead what I expected based on my first ultrasound last Monday) it was so cool to see how much our little bean grew in just 10 days! HR at 153 it feels like this might actually be our double rainbow baby!
Hi everyone. We are going for our first ultrasound on Saturday morning. I will be at 7 weeks and 1 day. I feel like I should be more excited but instead, I'm terrified. I told my partner I'm just going to keep looking at him until the doctor says everything is okay. Did anyone else have this same fear/anxiety? I'm just so scared. I've been having this achey feeling on my right side on and off for the last couple of days and of course my mind jumps to the worst case scenario. I've been reading online that pains like this are normal in the beginning because of ligaments but it all just has me that more scared for Saturday.
We had our 8 week (3day) ultrasound today and both babies are growing great and have perfect little heartbeats! We graduated from our RE today and got released to my OB. Kind of bittersweet! The tech couldn't get that great of pics because the machine so old, so I'm hoping we can get better pics from my OB at our appt next week. This is the farthest I have made it in a pregnancy and I'm starting to get super excited! It's still early but we're on the right track!!
I didn't have a chance to post these last night, but I had my last U/S with my RE yesterday and I have been released to my O/B! Baby measured 8w3d yesterday (I was technically 8w2d) and heart rate was 172!
The u/s tech also switched to 3D briefly and it was so cool to see the details - baby's little arm and leg!
We had our first ultrasound today and everything was great! Baby measured at 8w6d (2 days ahead of LMP) with heart rate of 172. EDD of 1/7. So relieved! OMG guys, this is getting seriously real! Tears of joy & disbelief!
Our little one at 6w6d. I thought my EDD was 1/20 but they told me 1/19 so 7 weeks today! HR was 137bpm ❤️ I have a small pocket of blood near my cervix that the tech said I may or may not experience bleeding with. Thank God she warned me but now I'm just a little more anxious every time I wipe! But baby is perfect and seeing his/her heart beating was so sweet!
9 weeks today and had my 1st ultrasound this morning! He/She is measuring right on track and 180bpm. Due date is confirmed for 1/5/17. We're so excited!!
Had my first appt with my actual OB today.. I can't believe how much the baby has grown! It's a little hamster alien lol! (But seriously I may have teared up when I realized it's starting to actually look like a baby!!)
omg Yes girl. I was sooooo scared. As she was inserting the probe I said something about hoping to see the heartbeat and she instantly said "And there it is". She found it as soon as she started which was a HUGE relief. I instantly started crying and felt so much better. Good luck!
I had my first appointment on the 1st. Just like @wpowellI got to see my baby but no printed picture! Boo! She had handheld ultrasound, it was cool looking though! No sound either but she pointed out the heartbeat and I could see the flutter in my baby who reminds me of a gummy bear or a teddy graham ;-) I also got confirmation that the EDD is still 1/11/17! I saw the midwife the last appointment and I get to see my doctor on 6/22. I'm not sure if she will do an ultrasound, if she doesn't then I finally will have printed copies the 29th for the genetic screening ultrasound. I can't wait to see my love bug again :-)

Well hello there. Just as we were finally able to think calmly about the fact that we were expecting again after we were done having kids...we find out it's twins. I seriously keep asking myself if this is real life.

Just had my first official scan! I thought I was 8wks 4 days but I'm actually 7wks 6days. I'm not surprised as we got pregnant one cycle after I came off the birth control implant so things didn't have time to normalise. New edd= Jan 18th.
She found the baby very easily with a tummy scan (thought she might need to do a vaginal ultrasound) and the heartbeat was a strong 160. So good so far! It was so surreal seeing the heartbeat.
6w4d which is only one day off from where we thought we were! Nothing better than seeing that little heart flutter! With our son we didn't have a fetal pole or heartbeat at this time, we expected the worse but Dr says everything looks great! Thank, God!
@ashleys2541 my son's was in the 160's. Even the nurses in the delivery room were expecting me to pop out a girl!
Baby is measuring two days ahead at 9 weeks with a heart beat of 175. He/she was waving it arms. My husband was in shock and already thinks it has a penis. I can't even.
Di-Di twins measuring one day apart 9w3d and 9w4d. Both had a heartbeat around 190. I'm slightly freaking out as this was completely unexpected. But so happy they're both healthy!
