Home-Hospital combo; I usually gut it out as long as possible at home (made it to 7cm dilation last time), only to check in to the labor ward in time for just the last 90 minutes, then due to the speed and uterine atony I always hemorrhage after.
Hospital. There are no birthing centers here and the idea of a home birth freaks me out. But I was in and out last time which was amazing. Arrived at the hospital at 7cm, delivered within 30 minutes and was discharged before lunch the next day. Hoping for a similar experience this time!

Birthing center all the way! I went to one with DD and loved all the midwives. I felt so supported and comfortable during my time there. I also loved being able to go home when I felt comfortable.
Our RainbowBaby H arrived at 37 weeks on 12/20/16!

There are no birth centers around here, so we will be planning to do it at home, with a CNM. (RN plus graduate school for nurse midwifery--I don't feel comfortable with a lay midwife.) I've had two prior homebirths with this particular midwife and feel comfortable with her balance of being medical and being hands off.
If i risk out for some reason we will be going an hour away to have the most natural friendly OB around here. Some leadership changes at the hospital system closest to us have made for a very unfriendly birth environment in the last year or two.

I developed severe Pre-E when I went into labor with my first and I labor very quickly so the idea of home birth makes me nervous. My pregnancy was completely typical and without any complication until that very last moment.
However, with my second pregnancy I was induced at 37 weeks when I officially got my gestational hypertension diagnosis (we wanted to avoid pre-e and the mag drip) and I imagine I will experience similar complications this time around. I was happy with my hospital births and I'm happy to go back again.
Definitely a hospital birth. I had a wonderful hospital experience with DD and all of the nurses were fantastic.
I know a lot of people can't wait to go home once baby is born but I actually enjoyed my two day stay and being taken care of. It felt like we were in our own little bubble and gave us a chance to bond as a family of three before facing the real world.

Right?! That's what I say - I loved being in the hospital last time, and requested they let me stay as long as they could hahahaha! We'll be having a hospital birth this time around, too.
Hospital for us. I had a great experience at our hospital and am happy to go back a second time. The staff was pretty flexible about letting me stay longer and I'm glad I did. Like @LastMango said, for us it was a great time to bond as a family of 3 before reality took over at home.
All going well, I'm planning on a midwife led birthing unit, which is attached to a hospital in case something goes wrong. Luckily where I live in London there's one with rave reviews (attached to a big hospital), so hopefully I'm low risk and can go there. This whole thing still doesn't feel real though!!
Hospital again. I'm looking forward to the newly renovated Mother Baby Center at my hospital. Plus, I love having a children's hospital located there just in case.

We got to use the brand new center here with our 4th! It was wonderful! Enjoy the newly renovated rooms!
I work at a hospital that has a combined midwifery/ob gyn practice. I saw the midwives last time and unless something is wrong this time around I will see them again. I was very lucky and had a fantastic experience. The midwife I saw at my centering pregnancy appointments was on call the day I went into labor. She had been a midwife since the late '70s and has since retired but man was she ever a cool lady. She thought she had attended upwards of 2.500 births.
If I lived somewhere with a birthing centre, then I might be a little unsure how to proceed. As it is, I only have a choice between home and hospital birth, and since I'm a FTM and I have anxiety issues, home birth just seems too stressful to me.
I'm in the stay in the hospital as long as possible camp. I don't have to cook or clean for 3 days. As I have to have a repeat c section there is not choice to make but I've had wonderful experiences for all of my children.
Our nearest hospital has a new (as of last year) natural birth center that I was really hoping to use but I think with twins I might risk out? total bummer
I'm going to bump this thread. I love seeing everyones' opinions, I'm still on the fence! I would love to find a hospital with a birth center. Still trying to figure out how to even begin looking into these types of places. *first time mom*
@HJ.morgan local mom FB groups have great info for these things! People ask about that kind of stuff all the time in my baby wearing group. I've gotten a lot info on local hospitals and doctors that way:)
@TinaBelcher if you live in the US then yes, having multiples automatically makes you high risk and therefore normal birth centers can't take you by law.

I am struggling with this. I live 15 minutes from a Mercy hospital with attached doctors office. One stop shop for prenatal, labs, ultrasound and delivery. It's so close. But that is where I delivered my stillborn daughter and I was not satisfied with my care in some ways, and I would choose a different OB. But, if my former OB was on call... I'd be stuck with him.
I can go to the birth center about an hour away from me, or have a hospital with an attached birth center which seems like my best choice. But an hour seems like a long time to ride in the car in labor.
Hospital for us. We saw CNM's for our first baby until 36 weeks when she was still breech and it was decided I needed a c-section. One of the midwives was still in the OR with me and they followed me after delivery as well. I love them so much! Since I'm (hopefully) having a VBAC I can't deliver at their birthing center but they have a great relationship with the hospital and I'm looking forward to it!
I would have loved to try a birthing center, but now there are none near me. Being a FTM, I'm just not comfortable doing a home birth, so we will be doing a hospital birth. Actually, the same hospital both I and DH were born at!
Hospital. Sure home birth risks might be low but being able to monitor and check all baby's vitals is invaluable. I've looked at birthing centers and they kind of look hotel/resortish. Just not my style.
I'm going with a midwife clinic, but it's part of a hospital with a level 3 NICU. It's in the same big hospital complex. So if anything goes wrong we'll be right there.
