I'll start

What's your job? I am a paralegal in a prosecutor's office for child support
What do you like best about your job? I love the law, being in court, drafting pleadings, assisting attorneys, helping families get child support, and the hours.
Least? It can be stressful being on top of everything.
Will you have work restrictions? No but last time the attorney made me leave the room when someone was being sent to jail and yelling.
Will you work until you have the baby? Yes.
How long are you taking off? Undecided. I took 10 weeks off last time but this time we'll have to pay for childcare for DD to keep her spot.
Do you get any maternity leave? No but I'll use sick time, vacation, and unpaid FMLA time.
Will you return? Yes.
What does your SO do? He is a desktop analyst (IT) at a local university for their agricultural department.
Does your SO get any leave? Yes, six weeks paid paternity leave (how cool is that?!)

Absolutely.

He works for Honda Manufacturing.

I think he does actually get unpaid paternity leave.

What's your job?
I've worked as a molecular biologist in a parasitologist lab for the last three years - my last day is Friday because we are moving to a new state in 2.5 weeks. I'm hopefully going to work part time in a genetics lab studying genes involved in developmental delays.

What do you like best about your job? Least?
Most - Hands down the people I work with. I am going to miss them so much.

Least - research involves a lot of failure. Just the nature of the beast, but it wears on you.

Will you have work restrictions?
In this lab there haven't been any restrictions. But in the new lab there could be chemicals I might not be able to use.

Will you work until you have the baby?
I think so

Do you get any maternity leave?
If I wasn't leaving my current job I would - not sure about the new one.

How long are you taking off?
Atleast 6 weeks - not sure

What does your SO do?
he is starting his first year as a resident physician

I am a LuLaRoe consultant. I work from home selling clothes!
What do you like best about your job? Least?
I love that I get to stay home with my kids. It is very hard work to get started and it is all commission based so no sales=no money.

I can set my own work so its up to me whether I work or not since I work from home.

I probably wont do any sales for a few weeks unless DH helps run them.

DH is in school full time for his computer science degree and also works as a restaurant manager.

Not technically but he can use vacation time.

What do you like best about your job? I enjoy making people feel good about themselves. I like being able to express my creativity and work with all types of people.
Least? I dislike certain people lol
Will you have work restrictions? I try to take more breaks off my feet as I get closer to my due date. I might shorten my hours if Pre E rears it's ugly head

Will you work until you have the baby? I will probably work until the baby is due.
Do you get any maternity leave? No I still have to pay rent when im off

Will you return? My DH just got started at a new job and my lease ends in January anyways. It is something I am considering. I haven't brought it up to him yet. I want to see how we are doing in a few months with the new paycheck. Also daycare for 2 kids is freaking expensive!
What does your SO do? He is a cable technician.

What's your job? I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice
What do you like best about your job? Least? Most: I love working with couples and seeing people really grow. Least: I hate when I work with children who have really horrible backgrounds and hearing their stories of sexual/physical/emotional abuse, neglect, parents using drugs or allowing abuse to continue, etc. I enjoy helping these kids, but I hate knowing the details of what some kids go through.
Will you have work restrictions? Nope, I make my own hours

Will you work until you have the baby? As long as my doctor lets me, yes. I can even do some work from home once I have the baby.
Do you get any maternity leave? My maternity leave is a personal choice, but it's not paid since I'm in private practice. I considered opening a personal leave insurance thing where I could get paid leave, but I have to pay each month. Unsure.
How long are you taking off? Still unsure, probably the three months, but depends on finances and clients and how much I can do from home.
Will you return? Yes definitely. two reasons...1: I love my job 2: I went to school for 8 years and have too much student loan debt to not go back.
What does your SO do? He works as an IT guy for a great company
Does your SO get any leave? He would get the typical week off but might take PTO, too

What's your job?
I'm an Oncology RN. I give chemotherapy infusions and various other infusions in our office and sometimes work with the doctors. Just depends on the day!
What do you like best about your job?
I love my patients. It's inspirational to see how hard they fight not just for themselves, but for their families. I love seeing them survive and get back to their regular lives. They are all just so appreciative and loving, like family.
Least?
Obviously the stress and the losses. But the good outweighs the bad.
Will you have work restrictions?
I already do. I haven't been giving chemotherapy drugs since three and a half weeks. After 12 weeks, I'll be working with the doctors full time.
Will you work until you have the baby?
Yep! Saving all my time for afterwards.
Do you get any maternity leave?
No. You have to use sick/vacation time and then FMLA. My short term will pay up to 60% salary atleast.
How long are you taking off?
12 weeks. I'm taking full advantage!
Will you return?
Yes. I love my patients and couldn't imagine walking away just yet. Maybe part time in the future.
What does your SO do?
Service Manager for local Ford dealer
Does your SO get any leave?
Nope. He has to use PTO too.

What's your job? I'm finishing up residency and am starting a new hospitalist position in August.
What do you like best about your job? Least? I love my job. I love my patients and being there for people in difficult times. Medicine is always changing so there is always something more to learn! Dislike? Probably the money/business/"you must see xxx patients to make your salary" thing.
Will you have work restrictions? Nope
Will you work until you have the baby? Yup, if possible. Super easy because I can just walk right over to the L&D to deliver, lol
Do you get any maternity leave? I think I'll get 6 weeks
How long are you taking off? probably only the paid 6 weeks unless something unexpected happens

What does your SO do? He's also finishing residency in emergency medicine

What's your job?
I'm a RN working in a healthcare IT environment. My work deals primarily in risk and quality assurance.
What do you like best about your job? Least?
Best: My team is awesome! I love the balance of autonomy and team collaboration. I also truly enjoy the work itself since I get pretty nerdy about trends in healthcare.
Least: Since my specialty is fairly new, there are fewer resources than I would like.
Will you have work restrictions?
Not at all.
Will you work until you have the baby?
Nope. I may work at home a bit more starting a couple months prior to my due date, but I get 4 weeks maternity leave prior to the due date that can't be applied to after baby arrives so I may a well take those off.
Do you get any maternity leave?
Yep.
How long are you taking off?
12 weeks is the plan for now. Any more would for sure be unpaid so I'll assess the need for that later.
Will you return?
Oh yeah! I love my job and it's important to me that I have my own identity outside of being a mother. My income is higher than my husband's so if someone stays home, it won't be me.
What does your SO do?
He is an educator and currently works at a high school.
Does your SO get any leave?
Based on what my cousin got, I'm guessing 2 weeks paternity leave and then I believe he is eligible for 6 weeks bonding, but I need to look into state allowances for fathers.

Most: I love the people and the challenges it brings. Everyday is different and something new to learn.
Least: Some days I am just constantly putting out fires and being the bearer of bad news if projects get behind as they sometimes do

Last time I took 6 weeks. I would like to take longer this time if I can. I have a pretty flexible job and can work from home if I want to I'm hoping to take 6 weeks completely off and then work from home for a few weeks before going back
Will you return?
I will return. I absolutely love my job. They also have amazing benefits for their employees so the health insurance for the family is a must.
What does your SO do?
He works in Shipping/Receiving at a printing/packaging company
Does your SO get any leave?
He does not. With out daughter we had her on a Wednesday. He as able to vacation that Wednesday-Friday but had to be back to work on Monday.

Oh man, I just tried to type out a whole thing explaining my work situation and it got way too messy.

So I'll just say I'm a high school English teacher, I've been off for a year writing my masters, and my BFP came a week after I signed a contract, so it's a whole big mess that I have to sort out.

But I will answer the best/worst part of the job question!

The best part is that I really love working with teenagers. People always look at me like I'm crazy when I say that, but it's such an exciting age, they're discovering new things about the world and who they are as people, and it's a real privilege to be around for that, and sometimes be able to help them on the way.

I hate the marking, though. I mean, I love to read what my students have to say, but the sheer volume of it and the need to have a quick turnaround means that I don't get to give every piece as much attention as I would like.

What's your job? I'm a homemaker/stay at home mama.
What do you like best about your job? Least? The best part is that I get to be with my daughter. The most difficult part about it is that it can be very exhausting.
Will you have work restrictions? Not that I can foresee.
Will you work until you have the baby? Yes.
Do you get any maternity leave? The closer I get to my due date, my husband will pitch in more with taking care of the house, meals, our daughter, etc...
How long are you taking off? Not sure if this question applies to me, but there are no plans on me returning to work outside the home. I worked in corporate settings for years, and I can honestly say I have found my true happiness and self as a stay at home mom. I've never been more fulfilled. We will also be homeschooling, and are very involved at our church, so it works out perfectly.
Will you return? N/A
What does your SO do? He works in senior management.
Does your SO get any leave? Actually, I don't know. But I'll be finding out.

What's your job? Linguist in the Air Force

What do you like best about your job? Least? I love the people I work with, but sometimes I wish I had a job that didn't have me sitting at a desk all day.

Will you have work restrictions? Negative

Will you work until you have the baby? Probably. I think I get half days towards the end.

Do you get any maternity leave? Yes

How long are you taking off? I think our maternity leave right now is 12 weeks.

Will you return? My contract will end before my maternity leave would be over, and I am not reenlisting. But I would like to return to the job itself as a contractor, which may be difficult with timing, so I guess I'll see.

What does your SO do? Same job, different unit.

Does your SO get any leave? I believe he gets 10 days, which will be very helpful.

What's your job? I'm in upper management at a very small automotive prototype (sheet metal fab) company, we wear a lot of hats here. I'm an ISO auditor and quality eng, project mgr, process designer, handle all of the incoming CAD and inventories and purchasing

What do you like best about your job? Least? Most? It's fast paced, incredibly flexible. Least? Automotive anything is good ol' boy central ::eyeroll so hard::

Will you have work restrictions? Not exactly. I have to be careful in the shop depending on what's happening that day (what metals are being welded or if solvents are being used) but I can WFH when it's bad

Will you work until you have the baby? Yes, unless my OB decides otherwise

Do you get any maternity leave? Yes, I'm the first pregnant woman who's worked there (it opened 16 years ago, I've been there for almost 14) so even thought there's no real policy I sort of made one...

How long are you taking off? 12 weeks. They're not thrilled but I'm not budging- NO work for 12 weeks and then my return will be gradual (WFH, part time for a while.)

Will you return? Most definitely, I have ownership stake at this point and will not be throwing that away.

What does your SO do? He owns a boutique production company

Does your SO get any leave? Technically no (as the owner with no real employees) but he'll take a few weeks for sure, hopefully more

What's your job? Professional wedding and portrait photographer
What do you like best about your job? Least? Freedom to make my own schedule, creative job, active, challenging. Least of all I hate paying small business taxes.
Will you have work restrictions? No, other than I can't book weddings too close to baby, but that shouldn't be a problem with a January baby! My last wedding this year I have officially booked is October 8.
Will you work until you have the baby? Yes, but mostly client meetings and finishing edits from the fall. Nothing too strenuous. December is typically slow for me since most people are so focused on the holidays.
Do you get any maternity leave? Not unless I give it to myself haha.
How long are you taking off? I plan on not booking any sessions for the first two months. I will probably just see what client demand is at that point.
Will you return? Yes, I love my job!
What does your SO do? Design Manager at an e-commerce based small company.
Does your SO get any leave? Yes! 2 or 3 weeks I believe.

What's your job? I am the operations officer for an international nonprofit in Germany, but the job title doesn't quite cover the variety of things I do on a daily basis.
What do you like best about your job? Least? My favorite part is the aforementioned variety. Due to the nature of smaller-staffed nonprofits, I get to do things like event plan, copy edit, finances, etc. and it keeps me on my toes. My least favorite part is probably the crunched timelines we often end up with. It's difficult to plan things with less than 2 weeks notice, but that's par for the course when your funding decisions take forever to finalize.
Will you have work restrictions? I probably shouldn't lift the 30 kg boxes anymore, but that's about it.
Will you work until you have the baby? One of the many reasons we decided to have a child now was because of the comparatively wonderful German parental protections. I will likely work until Christmas, but German law allows (more like strongly encourages) me to stop working 6 weeks before due date at full pay.
Do you get any maternity leave? 8 weeks full pay after birth, 12 in the case of premature or multiple births.
How long are you taking off? I haven't quite decided yet. Our plan was to move back to the US around July 2017, and I'm not sure if it's worth it to go back after maternity leave is up. German law also gives 12 (or combined 14) months of parental leave at 2/3 pay, and while I am certainly allowed to go back to work after 8 weeks, it's pretty frowned upon to go back before your individual 12 months are up. It isn't a question of money at this point, more logistics and sanity.

What does your SO do? He's a postdoc in chemistry, and actually the reason we moved to Germany in the first place.
Does your SO get any leave? Yes, if he wants it. He might WFH most days instead of taking official parental leave, but it's still a discussion we need to have. There's a decent amount of flexibility with parental leave here, so we need to figure out what our ultimate plan for moving is (if that's still the plan), how/when we want to work, and if we want to go down the taboo route of infant daycare in this country.

What's your job? I'm a senior software engineer for an online learning platform called Treehouse (teamtreehouse.com)
What do you like best about your job? Least? It's awesome getting to work on a product that changes lives and regularly getting to hear from our students how they went from working in the food service industry to starting well-paying careers. Also our company gets Fridays off which is rad as hell

Least favorite part is that it can be high-stress. It's a competitive industry so we often have strictly deadlined projects.
Will you have work restrictions? I had to notify my employer that I was pregnant a bit earlier than I'd like just so they were aware that my capacity for stress is a bit lower than normal.
Will you work until you have the baby? Yup. I work from home so this isn't a huge deal.
Do you get any maternity leave? We get a month paid, but it's a very family-friendly company so when I told our HR that I was hoping to take the full (unpaid) 3 months through FMLA off, they were quick to inform me that *actually* sometimes you can get more than 3 months + that I should opt in for short term disability to get the most bang for my buck. So I was really thankful for that.
How long are you taking off? Probably 3 months.
Will you return? Definitely.
What does your SO do? He's also a software engineer, but he's a partner in his own company (they do mostly consulting work for local companies but they have a few of their own products, none of which anyone here would know of probably)
Does your SO get any leave? He's a partner in his company so he gets to dictate that. He already told me he's probably going to do a month paternity leave with a little overlap with my maternity leave.

What do you like best about your job?good pay, 4 day work week, and I enjoy improving people's health
least? it's hard on my body. My back and shoulders hurt a lot. No retirement benefits or sick time.
Will you have work restrictions? no. I worked until 39 weeks last time. I'm in a different office so we will see how long I fit.
Will you work until you have the baby? as long as I can still reach my patients
Do you get any maternity leave? 1 year at about 45% of my regular pay
How long are you taking off? probably the full year

What does your SO do? marine mechanic. He works on big things. Currently a Navy sub.
Does your SO get any leave? I get 17 weeks of maternity leave and then there's 35 weeks of parental leave that we can split between us however we want. I'm not sure if he will take any. Maybe a week or two.

What's your job? I own a photography studio in the downtown area of our town. We specialize in high school seniors.
What do you like best about your job? Least? I love being able to set my own hours and being my own boss. I also love the traveling we get to do. I hate that we work a lot after hours. Some changes are going to have to take place after baby comes!
Will you have work restrictions? Most of our sessions take place from dusk until sunset. DH is our main photographer and with the threat of Zika I will not be going on shoots this summer. We hired an assistant to help him.
Will you work until you have the baby? Timing was perfect with this baby! Our fall season usually ends around Thanksgiving, so I'll have most of December off

Do you get any maternity leave? Again, timing was perfect. We are pretty slow in January and February

How long are you taking off? Maybe 2 months but then I'll prob change my office hours to by appt only and work a lot from home.
Will you return? We plan to keep our business going until the baby starts school then I may go back to teaching.
What does your SO do? He works for the gov't they build rockets for the Air Force... He also works for the studio with me

Oh and he's currently running for city council! Whew!
Does your SO get any leave? None! Just any vacation time. But thankfully they close until after New Years so he will get a little free time off!

I'm a photographer and designer for a children's hospital

What do you like best about your job?
I get to work on a wide variety of projects, cute kids, sports themed shoots, surgical photos, and event picts as well as just as varied design jobs.

Least?
The commute and the odd hours. Even if I worked 12 hours on Monday, I still manage to get grief if I come in late on Thursday. And then I get in trouble for having too many hours!

Will you have work restrictions?
I will likely have to restrict how much lifting I do, as far as outsides assignments... I just don't know. I don't think my work will let me pull back on those....

Will you work until you have the baby?
Yes.
Do you get any maternity leave?
Yes - I have time saved up in sick and vacation time, but not actually maternity leave.

How long are you taking off?
3 months

I think so...

What does your SO do?
He works security for a museum

He gets 1 month, with our last one he pretty much played doom the entire time... and helped sometimes.

What do you like best about your job? Least?

I love matching the right agent with the right couple. It makes the experience magical for both parties and they usually become friends after.

I love training new agents and finding their niche market. Also their playment into real estate firms

Yes but I will try to window block most of my work is done online and skype.

Yes bc I LOVE my job!!

Unfortunately not paid leave

Haven't decided but around month 7 I will start preparing my team and winding down on taking new clients

What's your job? i am a registered nurse. I work in a cardiac ICU but cross trained to be in pulmonary as well. I love my cardiac patients though
What do you like best about your job? Least? best- the hours. I work 3/week and that's full time. Sometimes i can get up to a week off every month.
Least- the demand. It's a very demanding job and often go unappreciated. People want more more more and sometimes it is nice just to hear a "thank you."
Will you have work restrictions? yes. My OB nurse gave me limitations on patients i can come in contact with. Already i feel the effects. Certain smells bother me and it's hard to hide it because no-one knows I'm pregnant yet. Also heavy lifting
Will you work until you have the baby? yes. Im due january 10. Thinking of working up until that day. It's going to be hard but i want the most time off possible with my baby afterward.
Do you get any maternity leave? no. We get FMLA. I'm not giving my employer the benefit of saying they give us maternity leave. If it were up to them they would give us nothing and make us use PTO pending approval. The only reason we even get unpaid FMLA is because its the law. It Bothers me when they say we get "maternity leave" no...no you don't

Will you return? yes. Probably return as part time though
What does your SO do? he is a mechanical engineer
Does your SO get any leave? FMLA. He gets unpaid paternity leave. He is saving his vacation days this year to carry over and use that to take a week off. His boss is wonderful and would be ok with him taking his "vacation" a different week if i went early or over due. He has actually best friends with his boss and i know that's how they handled the birth of their baby. We need my husband to get paid since disability sucks so he will go back as soon as possible.

What do you like best about your job?

I love seeing how the stuff we produce in our unit gets used. And the work schedule isn't bad.

Least?

I can't talk about my job much with other people except for in very vague terms.

Will you have work restrictions?

I will be restricted to 8 hour shifts in the third trimester, but other than that, I don't have any.

Will you work until you have the baby?

Yep. Plan on working until I go into labor.

I get 12 weeks off. Much better than last time when I only got 6 weeks.

I plan on taking a few extra weeks on top of the 12.

What's your job? Speech Language Pathologist in an elementary school
What do you like best about your job? Least? I love seeing my students make progress and being able to dismiss them when they have met all of their goals. Also, summer vacation! Least: too high of a caseload that I don't feel I can give enough individual attention to all students, paperwork and meetings!

Do you get any maternity leave? I get 6 weeks paid that comes out of my sick time and I'll take another 6 weeks unpaid. My son was born in April and I got the rest of the school year + summer off with him. That was awesome. A January baby isn't the best timing for a teacher but life doesn't always let you choose such things!
How long are you taking off? 12 weeks
Will you return? Yes. There will be one quarter left of the school year left after my maternity leave. Unfortunately, the last quarter is always hectic so I'll be a crazy lady those last few months of the school year.
What does your SO do? Environmental consultant at an engineering firm
Does your SO get any leave? No, he will probably take a week of vacation like he did last time.

What's your job? I'm an ESL (English as a second language) Instructor at a community college
What do you like best about your job? I love my students! They are hardworking immigrants and refugees that come from all over the world. They work all day and take care of their families and faithfully attend English classes at night. They are so amazing.
Least? I dislike taking my work home with me. Planning, marking, etc take up a lot of my home time with my daughter.
Will you have work restrictions? not likely
Will you work until you have the baby? I've decided to not work fall term, so no. Just through summer.
Do you get any maternity leave? no, not as an adjunct instructor.
How long are you taking off? I'm pretty sure I'm going to take a few years off this time.
Will you return? eventually, yes. I love teaching.
What does your SO do? general Dentist
Does your SO get any leave? He works in a private practice so any time off is unpaid. With my daughter we wanted a week but only ended up taking 2 days. People's teeth are important! Hopefully much longer this time!

What's your job? I work part time as a Children's Library Assistant - also known as the storytime lady!

What do you like best about your job? Least? I love my job! Interacting with the kids, finding readers their perfect book, building relationships with families, it's a blast! No complaints!
Will you have work restrictions? Not really. I may have to tone down some of my storytime dance moves late in the pregnancy, but that's it.

Will you work until you have the baby? Unless the doc tells me otherwise.

Do you get any maternity leave? No, and unfortunately because I work part time, I don't think I am eligible for FMLA. Luckily, I haven't really used any of my PTO or sick leave sine I started over a year ago!

How long are you taking off? I am hoping to scrape together 7 weeks of sick and PTO and may try to apply for unpaid leave for a few weeks after that.

Will you return? Yes.

What does your SO do? He is an EMT finishing up Paramedic cool

Does your SO get any leave? He is eligible for unpaid leave but will use PTO for 2 weeks.

@Texasgurly0313 Oh cool, another Intel person in here! I had imagery on my list, and I think it came up first but my recruiter turned it down so I could have the linguist job. It's great but definitely going civvie/contractor soon.

@Dinozaur I actually got a call from my recruiter about a month after I signed for the imagery job saying that a linguist slot had opened up but would be leaving two months later. I turned it down because I wanted to go into BMT sooner than later since DH and I needed the health insurance.
