This is my first post and kind of a strange one! FTM due 12/26.
I set up a meeting with my HR Manager yesterday to loop her in and ask all of my burning questions about job protection and maternity leave. She was super excited for me (we have a pretty good relationship) and suggested that when the time comes to tell my two direct supervisors that we play a joke a them. Since we have 4-6 weeks before I plan on telling them, she suggested something like coming up with an "HR investigation" about something I'd done and request a meeting with all 4 of us including evidence pictures (ultrasound pics). I'm super close to my two bosses and they have great senses of humor so I'm in on the idea. I tried pintresting, but nothing along these lines came up - I'm assuming because it's very untraditional.
I don't have any ideas, but I don't think this sounds like a great idea. I know you know them, and the environment, but it just seems unprofessional, and silly for the workplace.
I think it sounds great. If the relationship is there, there is nothing to worry about. At siome places that would be inappropriate, but if your work place is like mine it would go over really well.
Hmm. If the relationship is there, then maybe no harm? I'm trying to put myself in the position of someone receiving that info. If it was someone I felt a close relationship with, I actually think I would feel a little jerked around because it really is big, emotional news. If not, I'd just be like... what the heck?
I dunno. I told my two main colleagues today and was thinking about how to word it for a while. I thought of telling explaining that I had been ditching out during lunch hours because I was super sick and the smell etc.. or ...explaining that if they'd been hanging around the women's bathroom, they may suspect somethings up for all the puking... In the end I decided to go with "I'm pregnant". Actually I said "we're pregnant" because, in a totally stupid way, I feel guilty like I was just on maternity leave and then a bum employee while sleep deprived and was JUST getting back to being useful and now suck again and felt like I was placing the blame on both DH and I.
Sorry that got a little me-ish but yea, while it seems like it could be funny... I just don't know if this is news you mess with.
HOWEVER!!!!! If you wait til you know the gender, and it's a boy... you can do what I did last time and give people the news by letting them know you're growing a penis!
Right after I posted this the plan went in the garbage. I got asked to fly to Mexico for work on Monday (flagged as hot spot for Zika) and instead of thinking on my feet and saying something reasonable like "oh... I just realized my passport expired!" I ended up saying I can't fly right now due to medical reasons. I'm sure red flags are raised! I still haven't told them as I'm waiting another few weeks, but pretty sure they'll put 2x2 together
