  I never had this as my early contractions weren't a concern. 
  I would definitely call them and ask.

  I think the injection is to stop contractions. Would be a good idea to call your doctor.

  I would call your doctor, when I had my labor stopped I was given steroid shots and placed on a mag sulfate drip along with several others.  Once they slowed to 14 minutes apart I was moved from L&D to antepartum until I delivered.
