Contractions.

So yesterday I went to labor and delivery and I was having contractions not really bad contractions just sporadic random contractions and they gave me a shot that I thought was supposed to stop them but is it supposed to stop them are just slow them down because I'm still having them I'm just not quite as bad as yesterday

I never had this as my early contractions weren't a concern. 
I would definitely call them and ask.

I think the injection is to stop contractions. Would be a good idea to call your doctor.

I would call your doctor, when I had my labor stopped I was given steroid shots and placed on a mag sulfate drip along with several others.  Once they slowed to 14 minutes apart I was moved from L&D to antepartum until I delivered.
