Re: Symptoms Thread 05.09.16

  • I hope someone can help with this one:

Why does my "vaginal region" ache/hurt when I walk - right over my pubic bone. I walk about 3 miles appx. 3 times per week and it feels like the front of my pubic region is falling off. I'm 19+2 weeks pregnant btw...

What is it? Is it bad to keep walking? Any help?

I actually read an article about Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction randomly this morning, and it sounds like what you're describing (maybe, might help):

Mine hurts but a little higher up, like where you'd get cramps if you're on your cycle or are about to have an ass-polsion.  Mine hurts when a walk, then loosens up, then hurts again if I walk too long.  It hurts mainly after sitting a long time (which considering my job is primarily sitting, I'm screwed).  I'm assuming it's cause my little guy is trying to make my uterus into the size of a blimp and the muscle is just tender, cause it feels like I've done some serious ab workouts to the point when I try to lift my leg to put on panties, it aches, so I have to sit down.

^ this described me O.O uh oh lol I just had my doctor appointment this week, and the next one isn't until June 15....think I should call to see if I need to make another one? It's not painful enough to need meds, but it's not the most comfortable feeling

@LauraPCOS we were just talking about this on the previous page with @itsmyangel and @mommymaggieh
seems like SPD is the likely culprit though we've all described it as a bruise feeling to the pubic bone and less of a tearing pain. maybe a precursor or milder version resulting from the hormone changes?

I'm seriously considering a pelvic support band that you have to step in to but I'll probably wait to spend the $75 until it gets worse, maybe work on those pelvic lift exercises and see if they help first.

Edit to add: my next appointment isn't for a couple of weeks but I might call the nurse line if it gets worse to see if they recommend anything specific or know if I can get a support band through insurance or something.

  • oh, I forgot about carpal tunnel :( if it makes anyone feel better, mine went away a couple weeks after DS was born. But God is it a bitch. Hoping mine continues to hold off, but I know it's waiting for me based on last time.

It's nice to know I'm not alone though.  I was asking my friend about it who was pregnant last year, and she didn't understand what I was talking about so I figured it was just me and because I'm a FTM that I thought maybe I'm just over reacting to the stretching.  Definitely going to look up some pelvic exercises and see if they help.

  • @annabenanna - typing definitely makes it worse. The majority of people diagnosed with it work desk jobs. They say having a support/gel pad for your keyboard and mouse helps. The idea is to keep your wrist straight, so no angling upwards to type/use the mouse. I've worked a desk job for years and never had an issue until I was pregnant. They say take frequent breaks from the computer. I notice mine a lot when I'm holding/typing on my cell phone.

  • For all the ladies with the lovely swamp crotch-- I had it too.  I started using Vagisil PH balance every other day and I feel SO MUCH better!
  • I have been symptom free for 2 weeks except for the occasional moodiness. I was so happy and excited. I kept thinking omg, are we smooth sailing now.... then I woke up today and have felt nausea, throwing up, and while this is embarrassing while i was throwing up i pee'd myself a little. Yay for having less control over your body :)

I am a daily user of vagisil soap and wipes, and it does nothing to fend off the swamp crotch. At least it smells better?

@kathleenkat Have you tried the Vagisil spray? It's powder based, so it helps with the moisture. I love it so much, I'll even use it under my arms and under my boobs too on really hot days.

I've never even seen that! Where do you get it?

same here @CopperBoom86 ... I'm really worried about how things are going to be after delivery. If I'm already losing control, how are things going to be then... eek!
  • Period like cramping.  The doctor says its normal but it still worries me.  I'm ok with the sharp pains but the period like cramps stress me out.
  • I've been experiencing heart palpitations and numbness in my hands when I'm laying down and when I'm driving.  My OB wanted me to check in with my cardiologist anyways because I have a minor heart defect.  I see him this week and will bring that up.

I've also had some peeling on my nipples which have been super itchy.  The areolas are beginning to darken and I wonder if that has something to do with it.
  • @kathleenkat I think I got mine at Walgreens? Or maybe Walmart? One of the Wals. Lol. It's awesome!

  • @JennJenn81713 - will you report back after your appt with the cardio? I've had similar symptoms but never considered they could be related. FX yours turns out to be nothing but annoying pregnancy symptoms.

  • @MorganL925 - I just read what you wrote and that is exactly what I'm going through with my hands, even the loss of strength.  Ironically, I never considered it could be UNrelated to cardio issues!  Interesting.  Appointment is Friday morning; I'll report back.  :)  Seems like such a random pregnancy symptom!
  • I find my hands and legs 'fall alseep' sometimes when  I'm on my back or driving. I'm not worried because I figure with with twice the blood and a heavy weight uterus  on my veins it's probably normal.

Try drinking more water- often helps
  • Leg cramps
Fatigue I can't ever seem to get enough sleep I wasn't nearly this tired with my last two and with two boys ages 2 &3 I cant afford to be this tired all the time!
  • I need that spray. 90 degrees tm. God help me.

It is, especially if you're on your back. My nurse told me it's your uterus putting pressure on one of your nerves and that's what causes it.
  • @Blonde1817 I totally agree. I find myself changing like 4 times every morning before settling on an outfit for work. I'm all belly but I already have a big belly. I can't even imagine how I'm going to look and feel by July/August at this rate. But as you said, I love being pregnant all at the same time and it'll be over before we know it and our bodies will go back, hopefully, to somewhat of what they looked like before. I wouldn't change this experience for anything.

    IT'S A BOY!!!

  • @Blonde1817 I've been feeling this way too lately. I'll be 21 weeks tomorrow and am embarrassed to step on the scale. I just feel overall bigger, but still love my bump! It's also messing with my head a little bit because the one place I've never gained weight before is my belly so my body just looks a lot different than it ever has.  Obviously this is what is supposed to happen, but it's still a mindf*ck.

I've also noticed that my belly button is changing. It's nowhere near fully popped out yet, but has a different shape and I can see both holes where my belly button was pierced when I was a teenager. WEIRD.
  • More body issues here. I always looked forward to being pregnant because it would finally be okay for me to have the big belly I always had. But now my big belly is getting even bigger, and I'm only halfway through... plus I didn't gain weight all of first trimester and now I'm gaining. I just feel bad about it because I know my husband wished I would be thinner before and now I'm just going in the opposite direction crazy fast. Plus it just feels giant and overstuffed and uncomfortable. I do love me some HBDB (have to remember to actually take a pic sometime) because it answers the question of what's normal at this stage - I think everyone else looks amazing!

  • I feel like a tank. Yes, a giant fucking military vehicle walking down the street. And I'm only 20 weeks. I am mourning my A cups and size 2 pants. I was tiny, so I feel way huge. It sucks having nothing but flowy dresses and elastic to wear. I miss my wardrobe. And my small boobs.
  • I had like A- cups, and now I have almost c cups, and they look enormous on me and I love them and want to keep them forever and ever! @kathleenkat but I do miss my wardrobe terribly as well.

Mine don't get to C's til I'm BFing but man I wish those stuck around
  • I was bra-free size A if ya know what I mean. Having cleavage sucks in the warm weather!
  • @NoraAurora This is a first for me! And just to add some Peanut Butter if anybody is Jelly, they look amazing and don't even hurt yet. I'm already mourning them knowing this is only temporary...

One word cellulite .... All over
  • I feel physically exhausted all the time. I feel like I've got molasses in my veins. It's worse than first trimester fatigue, too.

I called my OB to see if she wanted to see me prior to my appointment but of course she's on vay cay until next week Thursday, so her receptionist recommended I call my hospital's birthing unit.  Did that today and they said it sounds like stretching, and unless I feel the need for pain med assistance, there isn't much they can do, but for me to make sure I'm putting my feet up and resting, and if needed I can take Tyenol.

I've been doing the pelvic exercises though, and I've noticed improvement, so keeping that up!
