HELP 8 month old Screamer

Hopefully some of you are experiencing the same thing. For the last 5 days my little one has been screaming at everything. It is a high pitched make your toes curl scream and it is driving me insane. If she finds her way to an item she can't have (remote control, magazine, our cellphones) and you take it away she screams. If she ends up on her stomach and doesn't want to be...she screams. Basically anything that isn't going her way (not being fed fast enough, getting bored) is license for her to start screaming.

DH and I try telling her ssh no screaming or try to ignore it but obviously she is too little to understand. Right? I'm not sure how much longer I can take the sun up to sun down screaming.

Any moms out there have similar stories are suggestions?

  • We're in the same boat. I hate taking him out at the moment. It's a terrible sound and he does it really often. We took turns eating/standing outside the restaurant with him the other day.

  • Same here. Jake does when he's just trotting round in his walker, for no particular reason. Although he does do it like op said, take your phone off him, can't get the food in his mouth quick enough etc. The dog opens the back door and disappears outside for the day, as it must be a million times worse for her!
Must admit I feel like joining her sometimes. Lol. I think they're just discovering their voice. unfortunately I don't have any advice.... Earplugs perhaps?  ;)
  • We find it kind of funny because LO just started caring a few weeks ago when you take something from him! Boy does he get mad!! I just have something else ready to give him that's baby friendly. But that's the only time it usually happens.....or when I'm shopping alone. LO always screams when I'm shopping alone.

Mine doesn't scream, but he's started whiny crying when I take him away from something he shouldn't be doing. I've found if I scoop him up and make an "Arggggggh!" playful monster noise when doing it, then take him to another toy to distract him, he totally forgets about it. Until the next time, lol.
  • Yeah, LO doesn't seem to be angry most of the time he just screams for the heck of it. I don't mind most of the time, but we're flying (just him and I) all day Wednesday and I would love to have a happy QUIET baby on the planes. I think distraction is probably the best bet right now, so we'll see how that goes...
  • more a squawk than a scream. Yes, he's squawked all day today. My ears! He's also like my shadow, everywhere I go, this little guy follows, sounding like a baby bird. I find giving him something to munch on will give me a few minutes peace. Haha.
Yup, then it all starts again.
  • Omg my son screams bloody murder lately and I HATE it. He has blood curdling screams when I change his diaper, and GOD FORBID I try and put clothes on him. I had all my windows open and my mother was driving by (mind you with her air running and the radio) and she could hear him screaming from the street! My neighbors must think I'm killing him. He has a new fake high pitch scream too. It's joyful
  • @chelseajeanene I also think 'what do my neighbours think!' Haha
  • My Roman does the same. Its mostly involving food and when we wants our attention. So grating on my nerves!
  • Ear plugs and ignore him and distraction. I think if they see you reacting, it becomes a game to them. Thankfully we have a shrieker, but she's not high pitched or that loud. And it's a happy shriek. Some friends of ours have a five year old that screams when he's excited and it's horrible. Super nanny recommends putting them down when they hit you at this age, maybe that would work for the screaming or walking away if she's on her belly? I'm assuming she's perfectly capable of rolling to her back.
