Re: ***3rd Tri Check-In Week of 5/16***

  • 39 Weeks here! I have my weekly appointment in two hours.

    QOTW: I typed up a quick birth plan last Monday when we thought I might be in early labor. DH was supposed to print it out, I don't know if he did. I just put really basic stuff on there and it was a page long. If you make it too long, they won't read it.

  • I'm 28 weeks, 2 days today, and so shocked I'm already in the third trimester. Time has been flying! I'm pregnant with a boy, who is due 8/6.

    I seem to finally be over a cold, so last night was the best sleep I've had in a little over a week. Besides being exhausted, I've been feeling great! At the end of last week, I found out I passed my GD test, which was a nice relief, and everything is measuring on time.

    QOTW: I'm not having a birth plan. I'm just going to go with the flow. My hospital's standard practices include 1 hour skin to skin even with a c-section unless circumstances require otherwise due to mine or baby's condition. If I can't do skin to skin due to a c-section, DH will do it. There is also no nursery, so baby will be rooming in with us. That's really all I care about. Procedure-wise, I'll just trust my doctor's recommendations. It seems like everyone I know who has had a detailed birthplan had to completely throw it out the window as the baby had other plans.

  • Morning ladies! I am about to hit my 29th week on Thursday and I'm feeling the third trimester feels big time! Did the Peach Festival here in AZ yesterday and while it was only (yes, I'm saying "only") because it got up to 102) about 95 degrees that morning and we were there about 3 hours and I was beat! My poor two year old felt the same way. So when I got home I was on the couch with a pillow under my side and one between my legs and I was feeling a lot of pressure way down low. Perhaps 29 weeks is just too much to be walking around for 3 hours in the AZ heat.

    QOTW: I do not have a birth plan. I didn't have one with my first either. I mean I did want to have a "regular" birth with my first. From my water breaking to going into labor and having a vaginal birth. Things didn't go that way so this time around my doctor is recommending that I have a repeat C-Section so that I don't have any complications with the scar on my uterus. I'm OK with that now, although I wasn't at first. I hate the fact that it will be planned. But, I am going to do what I need to do to be sure my baby is born happy and healthy. So C-Section at the end of July is my "plan" right now.

    Hi Everyone!  35 weeks now and officially 1cm dilated, woohoo!  Appointments every Monday so just taking things a day at a time... so far so good with me, my baby girl, and my baby boy.

    QOTW:  I have to admit I love the "no birth plan" plans!  I'm the same way.... leave it to the professionals and let them do their job by keeping us all safe and healthy!  Plan is to just call/head to the hospital when I think I am in labor.  I will labor in a normal room but most likely get transferred to the OR for delivery.  With twins the chance of going to an emergency c-section and having other complications is obviously higher, so they like the delivery in the OR.  They also recommend having an epidural, since if I do need to go the c-section route it'll already be in my system (or else I would need to be knocked out completely).  So I am fine with just following their lead and just hope I don't have a crazy long labor and still end up with a C-section :neutral:

    Hi ladies, 31 weeks this week! I see my doctor this coming Monday for my 32 week appt, after that I think I will be seeing him every 2 weeks. This weekend my hubby and dad will be working on the baby's room which I am very excited about, meanwhile, I will be getting a pregnancy massage! Can't wait!!

    QOTW: We don't have an official birth plan yet but we do plan on going over some preferences with our doctor. My goal is to have a completely natural, drug-free childbirth with the help of hypnobirthing (I know, I must be losing my mind haha). Obviously, if there is even the slightest complication that puts our baby in danger, I will welcome medical intervention for sure. Hypnobirthing encourages that parents have a set of birth preferences, so DH and I will be working with our doctor to create this plan. My doc is very open to the idea of a natural birth and luckily the hospital already is equipped with some natural child birthing equipment and techniques like labor tubs, nitrous oxide, birth balls, delayed cord clamping, immediate skin to skin, rooming in, etc.

    It's so interesting to see everyone's take on this question. My cousin works in labor and delivery and told me that writing down your birth plan is pretty much a curse haha and that all goes out the window during labor! She did encourage us to still have preferences and share them with our doctor to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe :smile:

    @NB817  Eeeeeee! How exciting!!!
  • Hi ladies! Can't believe some are getting so close! I'm 35+6 today, the looming month feels very long right now. Lack of sleep is making me super cranky.

    QOTW: I have a birth plan, but it's minimal since our plan is to birth at home. It's primarily about if we transition where we will go and how we will integrate.

  • Hi all. I had my ultrasound and OB appointment today at 36w5d. Everything looks good so far. The doc do think that the baby might come early but since she'll make the 37 week mark she should be fine. I do have random period like cramping since day before yesterday so let's see how it goes.

    I really don't have a birth plan. I will just go with the flow I guess.

  • @TerraMae80 the bump looks great and ur photo bomber is adorable :)
  • mclornmclorn member
    @Binnie505
    I've starting getting very mild, random cramping as well so I am right there with you.  37 weeks is a great goal so I'm glad you will make it that far!  I am feeling better knowing that others do not have a birth plan.  I was wondering if I was missing out, but I prefer to just be relaxed and let the professionals guide me.

    Happy Friday, Everyone!  Maybe our group will have some babies this weekend ;)  @AdorkablePixie
    I keep waiting for big news from you!

  • @Binnie505 Why does your doctor think baby will come early? Going with the flow is probably a good idea, it will keep you from getting stressed. That's what I plan to do for the most part!

    @mclorn I would not be mad if he comes soon! lol Tonight is a full moon, so who knows what may happen. ;) I've heard full moons have a funny effect on pregnant women!

  • @AdorkablePixie My mom has always made reference to the full moons when guessing when babies will arrive... she says you need all 9 full moons to pass before the baby arrives haha! Sounds silly but I've heard crazier things :smile:

  • @AdorkablePixie I have no clue why she said that as she didn't check me for dilation or anything. She said she just has this feeling lol. The sonographer took a long time though and made me nervous. She said everything was lookin great and that baby is moving and all that vs. last week where she was not moving as I had just eaten before my appointment and she was asleep. Yesterday she was moving just fine and even then the tech was poking at her and making her move. No idea what that was about. The doc said everything looks great and asked me how I was feeling.
    Hopw your little one comes soon. All the best!

    I've had co-workers and friends swear I'll deliver any day now, others say I'll definitely last another couple weeks.... people are so sure and it makes no sense!  I was 1cm dilated on Monday and my doc said that it's no indication of timing... could be a while or happen over night!

    I'm not far enough along yet for people at work to say I'm about to go into labor, but every Monday at least one person says,  "Dang, your belly is [huge today, grew a lot this weekend], etc." Ironically, it seems that everytime I get comments like that, I actually thought to myself that morning about how I didn't look big that day or how the shirt I'm wearing doesn't really show the bump as much. I'm glad I didn't have body issues before getting pregnant as the comments on belly size have started to wear on me even though I LOVE my bump. I didn't expect that. I mean, I expected the comments to happen occasionally, but not to ever feel self-conscious about them.
