20 week ultrasound red flags.....concerned

I had a level two anatomical ultrasound, they found enlarged kidney 5mm and a larger heart, and baby is breech for now. Doctor didn't seem concerned. We had DNA test that ruled out DOwn Syndrome, but I guess it's not 100% accurate. Doctor rescheduled ultrasound for around 33 weeks and said baby will probably grow into her Organs. Anyone else have this experience and what happened?

It's common for baby to be breech this early on. Though I personally don't have experience with the enlarged kidney/heart, I do have a very close friend who's daughter had both. She grew into her heart, but 1 kidney was still enlarged when she was born. For her though, it was genetic as both parents had/have kidney issues. They will be monitoring it, but she's doing just fine as of her 4 month check.

As far as DS goes, what did your dr say about the possibility? If the DNA results came back negative, did the NT show signs of possibly having Downs?

I haven't experienced it (although baby has been breech for a while and I am 26 weeks). So the breech, you shouldn't worry, baby has PLENTY of time to turn around. With the rest, I am unsure. But I would say, if doctor doesn't seem concerned, then don't over worry yourself (I know it's hard!). When I had my first ultrasound, the doctor saw fluid between my placenta and uterus, and didn't seem concerned...of course I googled everything and it was all just horrible and I freaked myself out, when I shouldn't have. Haha. I would say, take it one day at a time, make sure you ask questions and make sure the doctors keep you in the loop.

NT measured normal, everything else was normal. I should stay off google it sounds like.

Yes stay off and far away from Google. A baby being breech at this point really isn't concerning as they move and shift a lot. I'm 33 weeks and my baby still goes back and forth from breech to head down.

I dont have much advice on the enlarged organs but trust your dr and if you don't go and get a second opinion if you are nervous to wait that long.

My nephew had enlarged kidneys after birth and my niece (his sister) had enlarged kidneys in utero. My mil is a nicu nurse and said they rarely treat it at her hospital because it goes away by age 1 most of the time. If it doesn't then they treat it. Sil (mother to both) is a newer nicu nurse and are her hospital they treat with antibiotics for a year and reevaluate with ultrasounds and blood work frequently during the first year. Nephew grew out of it and is a healthy 4 year old. Niece is 9 months old and has passed every test so far. If your doctor isn't concerned I'd listen to them.

I'm 27 weeks and my baby's kidneys are also enlarged. I saw a specialist and they said it's super common especially in boys and almost always resolves in utero. So I wouldn't worry too much! They want the measurements below 4mm at 20 weeks and below 7 at 32, so 5 is barely over the limit. don't stress!

With my first ultrasound they found something on baby's heart. And they're concerned with how fast he's growing. I am due for an anatomical ultrasound in 2 weeks to rule out any problems and to see if the doctor had gotten my due date wrong.

My little boy (now 16 months) started with both kidneys enlarged. We were told about it in our 20 week ultrasound as well. He was born with both kidneys enlarged but we just go in twice a year for check ups. One kidney is normal and one is still the same. It doesn't cause him any problems luckily. What he has is called hydronephorsis. Sometimes it can cause kidney infections but he has a low level diagnosis. I do not have experience with the enlarged heart but if your doctor isn't super worried I\you should try not to. I know that's easier said then done.

I just had my AS on Tuesday at 18+3 (measuring 18+5) and my little guy had englarged kidneys as well. They were just over 5 mm so they are doing a repeat scan at 22 weeks and will keep monitoring as necessary. My OB said the same thing. Nothing to worry about and almost always resolved in utero. If it hasn't resolved by 30 weeks, she'll refer us to a pediatric urologist but she wasn't the least bit concerned so I'm not either. OP, I hope this offers reassurance!

The best advice I can give is just try to *trust* your Doctor. They work with lil' babies all the time and I feel would tell you if there was something to worry about. Dr. GOOGLE however, is so, SO bad. Fear mongering generally unreliable information. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy :)
