I had gestational diabetes, so yes, an ultrasound at every appointment.
I just don't see why anyone, on any board, feels the need to mock people for enjoying special moments of their pregnancy. Does your own life really suck that much? That you feel the need to mock a pregnant woman? Really?

Just wanted to chime in: We're all pregnant here, not just her.
Why does it seem like every post here in June all the sudden turns so ugly? The tone here is mocking and not kind hearted and it did not used to be like this. Who cares if she believes she feels breathing, actually does feel breathing, or is totally crazy? At the end of the day the baby will be born just the same and this opinion is a non issue. Let's talk about really anything else and just let this go. Seriously, there has to be a cute tator tot picture to put here instead.

Why is it that June is suddenly full of really ridiculous posts?

Not every one. Just the dumb ones. Dunno, third trimester hormones?

It's nice to see so many "doctors" on this thread! Anyways, I asked the ultrasound tech AND the doctor today and both confirmed that this is possible. Although I haven't experienced it, I'm pretty sure OP could have! All of this sarcasm and sass just sounds like a bunch of miserable, nasty pregnant women. Did your momma ever tell you if you don't have anything nice to say, just shut up! I never understood how happy people could work so hard to tear someone else down.

There actually are quite a few Drs on here. Just an FYI. What the baby is doing isn't exactly "breathing".... Because science. Also, you need to take a lesson from your momma and just shut up if you can't say anything nice either.
I find it really amusing that the people scolding others for being mean are the ones who are actually using mean words. When you resort to name calling, that's when you've lost your argument.
Someone can come on here and say "oh my doctor said x,y, z" all they want, that doesn't make it true because in reality, we don't know who the heck anyone else on here really is. Anecdotal evidence people claim comes from their doctor doesn't beat out basic science wisdom. Also, for something so small, some doctors may just say sure, that's totally possible to appease their patients. It's not like it's going to change anything medically and if it helps a wan to bond with her baby, more power to her. If OP, and anyone else, want to believe they're feeling their baby breathing in the womb, that's great for trhm. The rest of us will sit here and know that they're wrong. Done.
I'm not making an argument, just calling out people for being a-holes. Uh, I could clutch my pearls and replace "you're being a-holes" with "you're being unkind" if that helps you understand.

Well that would be a more well-bred response, but you do you ;-)

Cuz that's how we roll around here. well-bred. (Edit to include return winkey face to demonstrate insertion of silly sarcasm in return)

I understand. And my comment reflects that. It was quite clear what your were doing. And I stated that I found it amusing.

I think "well informed" or "well educated" might be the best word rather than "well bred", but clearly that's not always the case.

Sorry, CourtJack, my comment was not directed at you - I'm a June 2016 momma, not from another board.

And yet my OB said it wasn't possible when I asked today. I'm not miserable or nasty. I just prefer scientific facts to how someone "feels".
So I have had other babies , 3, I never felt it before now... I am 37 weeks and I get 2 US a week and they check that she practice breathes lol... I assume she had her back pressed to my side and I could feel the rythym of the breath... even had my husband feel it... you feel a hiccup lol but you think breathing is absurd ? Ha ha owell
Those claiming science says baby doesnt practice breath in the womb... ask your dr and hope you like crow and just for the record I have seen in at least the last 6 US I have had and felt it when I had my arm leaned on my belly... not like I watched my belly move and called it breathing... some of you ladies should do more homework before you report because science says your wrong rofl...
It is a required check for BPP ultrasounds so I would find a new dr or check my question if they said it was impossible lol... I'd actually be super concerned lol
@mebaby333 if you actaully read the responses you got instead of just saying no way am i going to read all that, you'd see that no one is claiming they don't practice breathe, but there's a different between practice breaths and actually breathing. One is done by fetuses, one isn't. We have some people claiming their doctor said it's possible to feel, some people saying their doctor said it isn't. In the end, it doesn't seem like something that actually has been studied, but if doctors hear enough patients claiming they can feel it, they may just say yeah, sure, that's what you're feeling and move on since it really and truly doesn't matter whatsoever. I'll trust what science has told me, you trust whatever the heck you want to. I really DGAF.
Also, not everyone gets BPP ultrasounds. Believe it or not, some of us have a reason to get a regular old ultrasound to check on any number of things without it needing to be a BPP (like me). Saying all ultrasounds check for practice breathing is incorrect because they don't.

Wait- this indicates you can google...Maybe? I thought you got all your MUD, including this gem, off baby center. But keep lol-ing all the way through your 2xwkly BPPs, cause it's not at all like that would be an indication of a very critical problem--if you know--if it was really happening to a real, actually pregnant person.

Someone DID say that practice breathing was not possible. There's a group of you that commented in a mean spirited way. Of course, it's up to us what sort of a culture we want to have around here. And maybe that's what we're willing to accept. For me, it's hard to watch someone's earnest comment get ripped to shreds. But hey, as was said, you do you. I'm sure she doesn't think her baby is actually breathing in oxygen and I would have hoped that she would have been given the benefit of the doubt.

Oh goodness. Ok I think there's some confusion going on here. I too have twice weekly appointments, one of which is a weekly bpp. While yes, in order to pass a bpp, baby has to practice breathe. However, your baby isn't actually breathing. Babies don't take their first breaths until they're born. When you breathe, it sends oxygen to the baby via umbilical chord, you do the breathing for the baby. Baby only makes the MOVEMENTS of breathing, aka practice breathing. Baby isn't actually taking breaths. Yes, during a bpp they do have to see the baby taking practice breaths, it looks as thought they're breathing (chest goes in and out like ours). Again, they're not actually breathing, it's just a movement they do to practice breathing. If the tech fails to see the chest rising, they'll switch the monitor to show oxygen movement through the umbilical chord (shows up blue.. Had to do that a couple of times). As far as feeling the baby doing practice breathing, I had no idea. I've felt something similar and when I asked my dr she did a chuckle. I'm going with probably not....

If you actually read just the first page of comments then you would know your wrong rofl...
And if you don't get BPP's that's great but then why do people need to respond as if they know something about babies practice breathing in a rude presumptive way? As if they are the beginning and end of all knowledge?
Seriously you can Google it and I'm sure you'll find plenty of info on its validity... I didn't have to Google it because I am living it and science proves it is possible rofl

I didn't mean she was actually breathing I thought I put in the original post practice breathing... I see the title and I left off practice in the title but seriously folks...
