New here

Hi!
I'm looking for someone who can relate to my current situation and provide some sort of guidance.
Im going to be 30 next month and have a 4 year old daughter. My husband and I conceived her very quickly, and after only 1 month of ditching my BC.
Here we are 4 years later and have been TTC baby #2 for about 8 months now with no luck.
I have always had irregular periods. Always! I thought it would be beneficial to get off BC a few months prior to TTC this time around. But, since then, I've only had cycles induced by 10 days of provera.
I don't know if I'm ovulating at this point or not. I don't temp (sleep difficulties) but does use OPK and Fertile Focus (microscope) and have got positive results.
My doc is talking Clomid at this point, and although I'm not a opposed to it, I don't know if this is the standard route prior to any other tests.
Is there something else I should inquire about first before starting clomid?
My DH is okay with just riding it out and keeping at it, but I am feeling the pinch to get the long awaited BFP as my daughter is already 4 and too much more of an age gap isn't ideal for me. I'm also a school administrator, so timing is important to me as well.
Thanks for your feedback!

I am not extremely familiar with other methods, however, after going off BC several years ago I was never able to get a normal period so to kick start a period I was started on Provera with multiple rounds of Clomid then used in order for me to have success with getting pregnant with my first child. He is now 15 months old and we are ready to try for #2 and I have not been able to get a period again since February so my OB is starting me on Provera next week followed by Clomid again. Unfortunately she is only letting me do 2 rounds before making me see a specialist due to doing rounds previously, but to me, yes this is a good route to go with if you guys aren't having success. It is easy and non-invasive.  Good luck!

Welcome and good luck! Sounds like @lanneyd has similar experiences. I'm glad this board is able to connect you two together.

I always thought we would have a second kid when my son was 3, but had to come to the realization that it wasn't going to happen and to not dwell on that (I'd rather just be able to actually have a second kid!) There a pro's and con's for any age gap between kids. Take that out of the equation and maybe that will reduce some stress of trying to have another baby. Just a thought. Best of luck and keep us posted!
