TTC After a Loss

^*TTCAL TWO WEEK WAIT THREAD*^

We're trying out a monthly thread where we can all talk through, about and around the dreaded, exciting and BSC-inducing TWW, and here it is! This is also the perfect place to share your BFP with us! Ups and downs, highs and lows, zen and insane - we've got your back.

I am currently, probably, 4 DPO on my third cycle post loss. My temperatures have been totally bizarre, as it's gone from being so hot overnight I woke up from sweating to extra chilly. I'm restless and not sleeping properly. I'm not hopeful about this cycle, even though we hit -5 to O (as long as I ovulated when I think I did) because I am paranoid O was actually two days later. We'll see - I don't know how long my luteal phase is, as it was 14 and then 16 days my last two cycles. It was 13 pre-loss.

Bring on the crazy, pals.

@reneeannemm thanks for starting this thread. This is my first TTCAL cycle as I was benched for a bit. We tried on our own but if this cycle is a bust then I'm back doing IUIs. I am currently 12 DPO. I would say we gave it a good try. I keep comparing my symptoms to my cycle where I was successful. In that cycle my boobs were way more sore an in this one not so much. I've checked my CP more than I'd like to admit. I spent yesterday crying off and on all day because I'm just drained from this experience and the last year of TTC. Anyway- I go between maybe this is it to there is no freakin way it worked. Yup- I'm pretty BSC right now. On a positive note in order to get out of my funk yesterday I did a yoga workout and tried a new recipe. It definitely helped.

  • Well I hope I'm lucky for you @renneeannemm !!  :)
  • I was about to say I am also a 3rd cycle, but I am actually on my 4th. I am 4DPO though. I always feel so anxious during this time and literally count the seconds until I can test. It's so hard not to test too early. Unfortunately, I had at least one and possibly two seemingly normal periods when I was actually pregnant last time so I don't really trust my period to tell me I am out. This leads to a lot of random tests throughout my cycle because I am scared of missing an ectopic again. Since I only have one tube now it would be a disaster to miss it again from a TTC perspective. I am feeling a little nutty right now just saying all this "out loud", but I guess better out than in. Good luck to everyone in these the longest 2 weeks ever.

@Taggarab Still cycle buddies. Let's ride this one out. :)

I don't have any tests in the house and I won't buy one until my missed period. I had a 16 day luteal phase last time, but I don't think that will repeat. I spot 13 DPO exactly once in the morning around 11 am, so I know I'm out once I get there.

  • @reneeannemm Glad to be in it with someone! Hah. I have the opposite in that my LP is on the shorter side, with some months being 12 days. I Oed a few days earlier this month than I did last month and Fertility Friend changed my O day once when I put in a few more temps so I feel like I am all screwy. I probably should take your advice and not keep tests in the house though. I have a crap ton of dollar store cheapies.

  • 12 DPO here.  No symptoms, except a chart dip at 7dpo (I'd bsc jump and down about implantation dip and all that jazz, but I had the same thing last month and am clearly not KU).  Temperatures took a plummet this morning and had a tiny spot of blood, so it's looking like I'll be out this month and AF will be here within a few days...  :( Super upset by this as I will not be KU by my EDD...  *sigh*

@fivetimesnoluck FX your fortune comes true!

I am obsessively feeling myself up as surreptitiously as possible. (so glad I have an office!) Seriously, I am more obsessed with boobs than a teenager.  And I am obsessed with any twinge or cramp in my lower abdomen.  AF is scheduled to arrive Saturday. I am 6 DPO. DH is a bit worried that I am going to crash emotionally if I am not KU this cycle (our first month of trying- come on buddy, I don't expect it to happen so quickly). I came out of the bathroom and told him I think I am KU on Saturday night. But by the time we went to bed, I had convinced myself I wasn't. Will I be sad? Probably a little bit but I don't expect it.  I have decided to resist POAS unless AF is at least 7 days MIA.
  • @fivetimesnoluck I like that fortune - fortune cookies are known for accuracy, right?

This is cycle 1 post-loss ttc, so it's a bit wonky and I'm not 100% sure when I ovulated, despite temping and OPKs, but I think it was this weekend so we only got 2 tries in, but somehow my brain is convinced we hit it and it's going to happen.  Brains are amazing in how they overrule common sense and knowing the probability.

I am trying to keep myself busy while I avoid POAS and ending up sad when it is waaaay too early.  BSC, here I come!
  • @fivetimesnoluck I love the fortune cookie, thanks for sharing! I am also 10dpo. AF is due on Saturday and it's also my best friend's wedding that day. I think that being in Alaska for the wedding and then being able to drink whatever I want is going to help me get through this cycle if I get a BFN. I plan on testing on Friday morning so that I know if it's safe to drink and eat whatever I want, since we will be in Alaska and I will be 14dpo.

Good luck to every one in the TWW!

I'm starting to think the fortune was referring to my Amazon prime delivery today. I'm getting crampy, which would be disappointing on more than just the BFN level... If I start tomorrow, I would also be looking at a 10ish day luteal phase. Stating the obvious, but ffs this all just sucks sometimes.

  • @crazypt2285 I wouldn't test at 6dpo, but that's just me. I don't like negatives. If it were me, I'd (try my best to) enjoy vacation and test on 11dpo. Is that a possibility? Could you stand the wait?

  • Sorry for everyone dealing with AF and BFN.  No fun at all.

I missed 4 days of temping, so it is very inaccurate, but I think my temp is still up.  Very hard to tell with the missing days (cat hid my thermometer - he can be a jerk).  I'm trying not to be super optimistic but it really sneaks into your head, doesn't it?
  • JDMRSJDMRS member
    @mandi135
It really does.  When I got my BFP in February, I wasn't expecting it at all. I even apologized to DH for not being pregnant. And them bam- preggo. After the loss, I don't want to be optimistic but I do harbor secret belief I am am going to get a BFP this weekend.
  • I'm 10dpo on my first cycle after my current loss. We did the deed on the correct days but I don't think it's going to happen this month.

My husband told me he thinks we should put the breaks on until after the summer because "I'm not heathy enough to have a baby" whatever that means. In no way do I want to stop trying. I just think he's tired of the chore it has come to feel like. We've been trying for eight months and I've had two m/c during that time.

  • Hi all,
I've been lurking here and was active over on the miscarriage board about a month ago.  This is our first cycle actively TTC after our loss at 7 weeks in early March. We've been undergoing infertility treatments because I wasn't ovulating at all, but it seems as if the miscarriage "kick-started" things... Silver linings, right?  I ovulated on my own last month, but my RE is concerned about my egg quality so I took Letrozole this cycle to help with "bigger, stronger, faster eggs", add DH says. I ovulated when expected, we had impeccable timing, and am now 11 dpo. I'm going crazy!!! Trying to wait until Saturday (14 dpo) to test... This is just the thread I needed! Good luck to all of us.

I'm 10 DPO and 1st cycle trying post lost.. 4.5 months post loss. To be honest, my cycles were not even resembling a cycle until 2 months post m/c so we couldn't try anyway because I wasn't ovulating. Our timing was "good" but not "high" I guess I'll see what happens. My temps have stayed up, but are slightly lower than my pregnancy cycle so I'm not hopeful. My boobs are also inflated and that happens before I get my period, so there's that. I can't remember symptoms ... I usually don't have any or aren't keen to notice other than my period is late. Anyway, my luteal phase is still 10 days so my test date is tomorrow.. I'm holding old because disappoint is easier on a Friday lol! I'll have the weekend to get over lol. I have a half marathon on Saturday at 7am so if I'm not I'm going to crush that thing and move on. That's my positive thought in my pocket for this cycle.
  • @KyCade3013 I was thinking about you this morning when I was trying to talk myself out of testing.  I've decided disappointment is better tomorrow, especially since I'm probably only 7dpo which is crazy early.

Maybe I'll keep pushing it out another day, but the urge to test is strong, especially with the cheap tests.
  • Well so far per FF I am either 3 DPO or 5 DPO with dashed crosshairs. My signs are all confusing right now and nothing is matching up. I have no idea if I really ovulated or not...my temp rise and post O temps are not as high as pre loss cycles so who knows. I know cycles can be whacky after MC but was hoping I'd be lucky. Will see if AF shows next weekend (or not) and I go see the OB for my annual exam next Thursday so will ask her what she thinks.
  • 3DPO today.  All the memories of how excruciating this wait is are returning.  Ugh.  We're going out of town next weekend to visit my in-laws, so I'll definitely be testing beforehand to see if I can have a drink while I'm there (FIL's 60th birthday).  Don't know how I'll be able to keep my mouth shut if I'm KU but it would be a very good problem to have!

  • Ugh I know this is a safe place so I might as well share. I did really well this month telling myself it's silly to think I can get KU from POM but I'm 10dpo and things are feeling strange. I had some weird things on 8dpo, too. Today feels mostly like cramping but I feel like it's too early for AF so I'm confused. I have one test. I really want to test but not sure I can hold my pee long enough to get an accurate reading and yet feeling impatient to wait til morning for FMU even tho I should. I'm trying to talk myself down. The chances are ridiculously slim. Arggggh I might have to ask DH to wear condoms until September because it just seems unfair to go through this every month when he's TTA.
I don't know if this sounds strange but if anyone will understand it's all of you....part of the reason I want to test is that I'm worried that I will start bleeding but because it's early that it might be a CP and not AF and I don't want to miss it if it's a CP because they can do testing :(

I'm  out. AF arrived yesterday. A lot more upset than I thought I'd be. We were visiting my parents this weekend and I was crying to my mom at 5:30 this morning. Does the raw emotional response get easier at any point?
  • Oh no @JDMRS I'm sorry about AF. I think the awful emotions come in part because I always feel like I'm trying to make up for lost time. Today I lost it because it was beautiful outside and it would have been a perfect weekend for the baby shower I *should* be having right about now. Sending you hugs. I hope this next cycle ends up with a BFP!!
  • Just started my period since my D&C. I'll be joining in a couple more weeks. Baby dust to all. ❤️
