If you really wanted to make it secure (well, by "secure" I mean keeping it to people regularly posting on this BMB--they could still be cat fishing, btw) you could ask them for their bump name, a link to a pic they have posted on this BMB, and then require a new pic wearing the same outfit with the baby showing.
That's probably more than people want to do, but that ups the security level a bit. I want to join, but I probably won't. I'm just not ready to share my full name. Would it be awkward if I created a new FB account, just for this purpose?

I just sent a request. I didn't join in the beginning but I really want to become more active, FB is much easier for me. With my first BMB it became much more fun and easier to get to know people after we switched to FB. We are all really close friends now

Ok, I actually like the idea of a closed group that is also private! This will prevent all of the Adam Novaks out there from joining a group of post partum moms and their babies because an admin will have to send an email to invite you to join the group..
I guess I'm still waiting to see if there are more regs joining this group. It seems strange that 1/4 of the people requesting to join the group are people that I barely recognize at all. I don't mean this in a rude way, but I don't want to join a FB group where I'm posting pics of my baby with a whole bunch of Adams. I.e.: if you haven't posted in the past 9 months more than a handful of times.

For those of you who don't know about it (a friend of mine and I were talking about FB the other day and she had no clue about this function), you can see what your profile looks like to the public, vs how it looks like to specific people you are already friends with. Go to your profile page, click the "..." menu on your cover photo, and then click "View As...". On mine, the only things that are visible to people who aren't friends with me on FB can see are the main profile photo, a couple of old ones, and my cover photo. (I make a point to keep mine locked up so future employers can't see much of my profile. Not that there's anything bad, I'm just not comfortable with potentially having my boss snooping on my page. Also, internet = scary.)

I'd like to join but the link says it's expired. I really only get on the bump during my kids nap time (edit: and now when I can't sleep...) so I'd probably be a little more active on a fb group.
I couldn't get the link to work. I don't know if it's because I have to log in from my computer or what, but I couldn't get it to work from TB app on my iphone.

I wasn't going to make a big deal about this because I'm a bit nervous about adding people I don't know to my Facebook, but yeah, I figured it out. Since @Myzticsunshine seems to be busy and I'm stuck here twiddling my thumbs until LO is born, if you feel comfortable with it then PM me your FB user name (my profile is somewhat hard to find if you aren't already a mutual) so I can find you and add you. I have to friend request you first though, you have to add me, and then I can send the invite. You can drop me afterward once you're in the group.
FYI: because of the way I have to do it, I'm only adding regulars here - if you're a lurker who has never posted until now, I'm not doing it. Sorry, but I'm very careful about who I give access to my Facebook page. I'm much more comfortable letting someone like @adorkablepixie, who has been here for months now and whom I know is real, access than I am comfortable with someone who posted for the first time last week.
