Re: Weekly Randoms 5-9

  • Gave LO his first bath today- what a screamer! He finally stopped once we'd towered him dry, put the coconut oil on him, got him into jammies and nursed while reading a story. Then I put him in his crib just to try out (I still want to co-sleep but I also want him napping in his crib). I'm glad my mom suggested putting a grown up bed in the nursery because I'm currently laying in it waiting for him to wake up.

  • How do you know if you got the wrong size in a Bellefit?? My tighty wifey tanks are the same size as the girdle and fit great BUT the girdle doesn't fit. I can get it up my hips but there is no way on God's green earth that I can hook the girdle. I know it's supposed to be difficult at first to hook but this isn't the same. I'm wondering if I'm still swollen from my surgeries and that's what the problem is...Sucks since I can't return it!

  • Random question - I am going to try and breastfeed, but I know that this might not work out. Do I have to have formula ready at home? Or should I wait until I know that I will be using it? How do you decide what formula to get anyways?

The hospital sent me home with some- simulac. We ran out and bought a can of it so we have once the bottles from the hospital are done. I figure whatever the hospital uses is what we will stick with.

    I'm in L&D. Contractions are coming every 4 minutes. 80% effaced / 4 cm/ -1 station
I can't eat anything but broth and my husband just ordered a burger and fries. I might kill him. I seriously might kill him.
I made DH, my mom and MIL eat outside the room because I was going to be pissed if I smelled the food LOL. I got jello... And DH ate that too.
  • You guys...I can't stop looking at baby headbands & hair bows.  But I get overwhelmed by all the options and can't commit to anything.  I need an intervention.
  • Waiting for labor to start during this induction sucks, been here since yesterday morning and only 2cm dilated

You are in good company girlfriend! I'm obsessed with headbands and bows too. I follow all these random bow companies on Instagram now and my feed is basically all pictures of babies wearing headbands, H makes fun of me. My favorite is Bonnie & Harlo and I once woke up at 4am just to place an order before they sold out..

I had none with last baby. I have none with this baby either. I believed those who said if it is sitting in house it makes it too easy to just give formula in those crucial supply building weeks. 6 weeks especially (will never forget that 6 week cluster feeding with my first).

I saw some good advice that said you shouldn't buy it because, like PP said, it can make it too easy to "give up" when you're making it through those first hard days, but you should know what brand/type you want so that you aren't that mom with a screaming hungry baby totally confused in the formula aisle.
we don't eat dairy and go organic as much as possible so we chose a soy organic brand of formula to keep in the back of our minds just in case. We also found what stores it's sold in since we couldn't find it everywhere.

@tgortney thanks for starting the things I said when I was in labor thread.  I will be entertained by every post!!  :)
  • Anyone else's LO just hanging out entirely in the front of their stomach? Like not even a part of them is in the back, just as much of their body that they can get there is snuggled in your front? Because holy ouch I had to literally carry my stomach with my hands everywhere I walked today and I can feel her little body in there. Her little probably 10 lbs already if the US tech was right body.

  • Well looks like today is the day. Still no signs of labor but amniotic fluid is low. Going back to the hospital in an hour to get induced. A little anti-climatic to start since I thought I would feel something but I'm sure I will be hurting soon enough!

This was me! I had to carry my belly and my stretch marks hurt bad because it literally felt like she was ripping through my skin. I just tried to keep myself moisturized and used my hands

  • 1. DH slept funny and messed up his neck. Thankfully he has a chiropractic/massage appointment tomorrow. I feel bad for him because I'm starting to bounce back and yet my energy (day 11 pp) and he's basically couch bound.
    2. Babies don't blink. More proof that they're aliens.

@Pascal86 A checkout clerk told me the other day I " must have a huge baby in there." It stung and I'm still thinking about it.

I hate it when people say this to me!! It makes me furious. Don't label my baby before he's born.

Warning, it can continue after they're born if they're big. My LO's size was the talk of the hospital after she was born at 9lbs 12oz. People called her huge, chubby, chunky, the size of a one month old etc. They all meant well and the comments usually came with other, nicer adjectives like cute and beautiful but it still kind of bothered me. She was not even a day old and people were already fat shaming her!

Ugh, that's annoying.  She's so precious though.  Any baby would be lucky to have those cheeks!

I'm due on the 19th.  I am getting so annoyed of everyone saying "three days to go"!  To which I reply., "Yep... 11 days or less..."
  • @vinerie - Yeah it's sad how these things just build up in my mind and don't go away! Last week my boss's wife (who is super nice and awesome) did the whole "are you sure it's not twins" thing, and then was like, "it's just that with most adults you never get to comment on it when they grow 4 inches!" And I was like (in my head), no shit, because it's rude and people don't like to hear your list of observations on their body every time they see you.

I actually like going to work still because I don't think about being pregnant and my impending delivery the whole time, but also tempted to ask if I can work from home from now on just so I don't have to go outside and be around people.
