The closer I come to my c-section date (Tuesday), the more angry and unpleasant I am becoming. Anyone else?
I don't have a scheduled c-section, but I am also feeling a whole wide range of emotions about this LO and all of the changes that are about to occur. I'm gonna say that what you're feeling is normal! It's your nerves, mama. Everything is going to be ok.
I'm also having some mood swings. Nothing crazy, but I'll go from feeling a bit sad to lighthearted and jovial for no reason. Yesterday morning I was feeling down...I don't like the not knowing when he will come part. Then we met with the dr., who spent a lot of time with us, spelling out each scenario. I walked out of the office walking on air, I was so happy. The more info I have, the better I feel, it seems.
Same. I'm one of those people who usually LOVES surprises and does not want to know about their birthday/Christmas/whatever gift until the moment they have been opened, but I'm finding myself to be impatient in this case, which is making me super irritable. I just want to know how much longer the count down is!

My induction is tomorrow and pretty much everything this entire week has made me cry, either from anger or sadness. My poor DH has no idea what to do since there's no rhyme or reason to what causes the tears haha

I'm so hot all the time. It's like my body cannot regulate at all lately. I just want to go back to my old freezing cold self.
It is so cold in my office that I had a personal space heater until the beginning of 3rd trimester.  Now, I have a fan and I'm still hot!

I can relate. Honestly, I'd feel better if for some magical reason I knew the date. It would calm my anxiety about everything. Like I would KNOW which night I had to get a really, really good night's sleep beforehand. Not knowing if it is tonight or a week from tonight has me on edge a bit. I know this isn't how labor works, but I'm still on edge!

37+5 and I still have yet to pack my hospital bag....  Please tell me I'm not alone.  I'm really dragging my feet because last time I overpacked and when the time comes, I will have to wait for my MIL to come before I can go to the hospital so I can pack then right?  :S

@VS2016 I was 38 weeks Monday and just started packing my bag. I'm not done, but at least most of the stuff I will probably need is in there... I think.
    This exact thing.

@adorkablepixie I think I'm lucky that most of my friends don't know that being dilated before actual labor is a thing! I'm definitely not bringing it up or telling them about it.
  • I ran out of Pepcid the other day and didn't want to buy more. I convinced myself I could manage the heartburn with Tums. NO. WRONG. After three days without it, the acid revolted against me overnight. After 500 Tums (only 7 really because that's the max), I feel like a hole is permanently burned in my esophagus.  Even my voice sounds different this morning. DH was nice enough to pick some up on the way home from the gym this morning and I'm praying for them to work soon!

Someone recommended Gaviscon and it's a game changer! Between Zantac and Gaviscon, I'm good for day and night. Maybe worth a shot for you @TXmamatobe
  • There are people here right now working on replacing the wooden support beams/facade on the outside of my house. I knew this was going to happen soon, but it wasn't until a couple of days ago that I knew it was happening this week! Apparently DH and FIL were talking about it and decided to just go for it. I was hoping this would wait until sometime after LO's arrival.

True! I'm mostly just annoyed that I had to put on pants for two days in a row. And that I wasn't asked about it - DH and FIL are always making decisions like this without asking my input until after the fact. (Last year, DH was thinking about getting a new truck cause his old one was...well, old...and FIL talked him into buying the new one way further ahead of schedule than he'd originally planned because it was "such a great deal". I didn't even know that DH had been thinking about it until they had already signed the paper work and it occurred to him to call me. Guess how furious I was. :P )

In this case, we all discussed it two months ago when we were picking out the new paint colors and all that, but I was under the impression that it would be happening later in the summer/fall, hence me being somewhat annoyed about it happening right now. Also, I forgot to move my car before they got here and now it's trapped in the garage because of the giant pile of wood in the driveway.

I don't think it'd be so bad if I were earlier in the pregnancy/somewhat postpartum, but I'm 39+2 today and my patience is just stretched so thin lately...

  • random thought this morning:

I'm 40 weeks today and I usually have 1 cup of coffee every morning with breakfast. Is it possible that caffeine could have the same affect on baby pooping in utero that it has on keeping me regular? I don't want to risk her passing meconium so if I need to give up my one cup until I deliver then I'm 100% ok with that, but.... I really like coffee.

@amberraysofdawn I can understand your frustration, and it sounds like there is a pattern of behavior here that involves more than just unannounced renovations.  When we first got married, my husband used to do these same types of things, too (although he never bought a new vehicle without talking to me first!).  He had never lived on his own before, he was really immature, and it didn't help that we lived only 2 blocks away from his parents.  If something went wrong or he needed to make a big decision, he relied on his dad to fix whatever the problem was for him.  It drove me crazy, and it caused a lot of problems in our relationship (to the point that we almost didn't make it to our 1 year anniversary). The final straw was when he had an accident and tore his ACL. He called his dad to take him to the ER, and I didn't even find out about it until they were already discharged from the hospital and back home. That's when I told him that either he and his dad could be partners or he and I could, but unless he grew up and started involving his wife rather than his dad in big decisions, I was gone.

While I'm not suggesting that you give your DH that kind of ultimatum, it definitely sounds like you need to sit down with him and have a discussion about your FIL's over-involvement in his life and how to start setting some boundaries. It's great that he has a dad who cares about him and is willing to help him out so much, but there's a fine line and it sounds like they've crossed it.  With a LO on the way, it's even more important that he starts taking personal responsibility without help from your FIL and that he starts treating you as his partner for decision-making purposes.  For the rest of your lives, you and your DH are going to need to jointly make decisions for your LO - without your FIL's input - so he needs to understand that his dad can't fix everything for him and that the two of you need to be able to rely on each other.  For us, after we had that talk and he started treating me like his partner rather than his roommate, our relationship improved. Good luck, and at least you don't have to deal with these renovations with a newborn at home!
  • @swfljd Oh, man, the accident thing would have made me even more furious than the truck thing. My parents do this all the time - if an emergency happens, they never tell me until after the fact, if at all. I usually find this stuff out from my sister. It's part of why I'm so sensitive about being included in this stuff.

After the new truck incident, I definitely went off on DH about including me in big decisions - I still haven't let him live that one completely down, to be honest (though it's mostly as a joke now whenever he mentions the truck to somebody who hasn't heard it - he's even the one who brings up how mad I was half the time). I think he just doesn't understand what constitutes a big decision. This, to me, counts as a big decision - yes, we'd already decided to do it, but moving the date up without telling me is a big thing, especially since I'm 9 months at this point. Especially considering that we (well, I) had budgeted for it to happen later.

Y'all are right though that it's a good thing it's happening now instead of with a newborn (oh my God all the hammering), so yes, silver lining! Trying to be positive about that at least. :)

@TXmamatobe I know. You'd think people would know better. I've never asked a pregnant friend that sort of thing!!

Living a similar struggle. Have just enough Prilosec to get me through but take about 3-6 soft tums at night. I've been out of tums for 3-4 days. Threw up the last two nights. I feel you sister.

One of the therapists I work with (she's seriously the WORST and has no boundaries) snuck up on me last week out of nowhere and without even saying hi just blurted out "When's that baby coming!  Ya dialated yet!?" and I couldn't believe it!  I managed to say "Uhh, I don't think that's really appropriate to talk about.."

I was asked again today by someone else if I was dilated yet, which I just smiled and said I wasn't sure because this lady I like more and I think she was just excited.  But still, why do people think it's their business to know if you're dilating!?
  • And off to a great start with our pediatrician. She does home visits for the first one and our appointment time was 5:30 to 6 today. She still isn't here. It's pretty much 6. I'm going to be pissed if she doesn't show. I really don't have it in me to find a new pediatrician right now. I was excited about this one too bc she seemed perfect. The least she could do is call. :unamused:
