This is a weekly check-in for those in their 1st trimester: weeks 1 through the end of week 13. I know we've all gone through a lot to get to this point so congratulations and best of luck to all of you over the next several months!

Please post a little about yourself, your EDD (if it’s not listed below), any upcoming appointments, symptoms, etc. Feel free to also share your IF journey, I know many of us can relate.

Whoop whoop I had 3 good days! I actually cleaned the house and dos laundry!

Just got back from my introduction with the midwife, nothing special there and then I went to the hospital for a check.
No fluids needed and I am good to go on my vacation this Wednesday!

    I am one happy bunny!
(and the fact that summer is finally here in Norway makes it all even better!)

@tvh1982 so nice to hear that you are doing well ! Enjoy your vacation.

I am 13 weeks today!! my parents were visiting us for a couple of weeks and they seriously spoiled me with so much good food and all the help they offered. They are leaving today and I am a little sad but thankfully I am feeling much more energetic now and I have finished most of the deadlines at work last week so that I can take good care of myself. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow, I am so curious how these monthly appointments will be. My doctor or the nurse did not explain the plan.

  • Loading the player...
  • Glad to hear good news and exciting plans ahead for you both.

I'm in need of some wisdom: My nausea and vomitting persists even with Diclectin (which I did take routinely) but have now stopped due to its inefficacy. It also turns me into the walking dead.

Now I'm terrified to eat. I've narrowed it down to savoury and non greasy foods only. I'm allergic to most raw fruit and veg and no one to help me with food selection/prep. I try snack frequently on ginger snaps and lemon water and and it's slightly helped. But I can't go on like this forever...I can only hope it will go away.

Just reached out to an aunt, but food makes me so fearful it's really stressing me out.
Has anyone here experienced this and found a regimen that works?

And to answer your question @tvh1982 I don't think I can take over...I'm sorry :(

I've experience with what you have @leakypen.
Ive actually been hospitalised three times due to not being able to keep food down, stressing about food as you know you must eat, but nothing tastes or stays down.
I have something called hyperemesis gravidarum.

To get better I went to my doctors, got checked if I was getting dehydrated, they took some urine samples and bloodwork.
In the hospital they gave me fluids and food through IV and medication through IV too.

I recommend getting checked out, as for me getting that help the stress of eating got a little less. I also drink some nutrition drinks they give here to patients that have trouble eating which has all one needs in them. This makes me stress less as I know I got my vitamins and minerals and anything else I eat is a bonus.

At exactly 13 weeks I started feeling much better. But freaked out as I threw up after dinner this evening, guess I'm not completely out of the complications just yet.

    hope you feeling better soon!

  • tvh1982  - have a great time on your trip!

AFM - I just had ultrasound today and we got to see the heartbeat! The RE kind of freaked me out b/c baby was hiding and it took him a minute to find it. Definitely felt better after seeing the heartbeat! B/c today was our last appt with the RE, we had them tell us what we were having. We didn't want to know what they chose until we knew that it took so it's official, we're having a boy!  My EDD isn't listed above but EDD is 12/28/16.

  • Hi ladies ! Hope everyone is doing well !! @leakypen I'm so sorry you feel so yucky !! I wish I had some advice for you but it seems diff things work for diff people . I would talk to your doc . Is what you are on the same thing as Diclegis ? I am on Diclegis and it has worked wonders for me . I'm still grossed out by a lot but it has made a huge difference . For me bagels with cream cheese and Popsicles have been my go tos . Hope you get to feeling better !

as for me I got my genetic testing results last Thursday and found out we are low risk for the chromosomal issues they rest for . Also found out we are having a boy ! We are pretty sold on the name Leo . I'm so excited to be having a little man ! I go in for my 12 week OB visit tomorrow . They said no US will be done since I've had SO many already .

I could take over the thread next week @tvh1982 but it would only be for one week since I'm 2 weeks out from the second tri . Is that ok ???

I think I need to invest in some mouthwash... Brushing is getting tiresome ;)

Thanks @mskeenan yes it could be the same thing, but different brand name? You're meant to take two at bedtime and one in the morning and afternoon...that it? Totally didn't work. And I yawned so much I felt like a fly trap.

I'm 5 weeks and 6 days today. Going for an ultrasound Friday and hope to at least see a flicker. I haven't really had any symptoms at all except for minor cramping.
  • Sounds good ! I'm on for next week then @tvh1982 ! Yay for moving on to the 2nd tri ! I'll see you over there shortly .

I am so nervous for my OB visit today . I haven't been to the doc in 3 weeks . I know that's not long but it feels like it when I got used to every week . I'm praying they find my babes heartbeat and that all looks good . I'm scared not knowing what to expect . Some have shared what to expect but it's still scary !!

@ultratomato Congratulations !!! I am so happy for you.
@Drove2u Do not worry about symptoms, having or not having symptoms do not show anything. Good luck on Friday with the HB, try not to stress out too much. I hope it will be an amazing experience !
@mskeenan I totally understand your feelings. I had my second OB appointment today, I tried to hide it from H but I was so nervous last few days. I was so convinced that we will learn that something was wrong. It all turned out well, doctor listened and made me listen the heartbeat. My next appointment is in 3 weeks and they told me that I won`t have an ultrasound untill 20wks (June27th).

  • Good afternoon ladies. I have my first OB appointment on Thursday after being discharged from my RE last week. Other than that, not much is new over here. I feel like my bloating has actually gone done a bit which seems strange. I take weekly "bump" photos and I look larger last week than I do this week, go figure!

  • @mskeenan I don't mind taking over since you only have one more week. I'll be partying with fake champagne at 12 weeks but if *technically* the 1st Tri ends at 13 weeks, then I've got 4 more weeks. Whew! All this fuzzy math :)

Not much to report, just trying not to freak out about 1). stopping PIO and estrogen shots today and 2). my symptoms subsiding this week (9weeks).  This whole process has been one long exercise in staying calm! When do we get to relax?

  • @capps42613 what a great ultrasound photo. Baby looks great!

I had my NT scan this morning. Everything looked great, but need to wait for blood test results before doc is ok with saying low risk. I'm so happy I got to see my baby again. I'm now 12 weeks and 5 days. This still doesn't seem real. Maybe once I start really showing, I'll believe that I'm pregnant.

I've been having some really crazy and weird dreams lately. Anyone else experiencing weird dreams. The other night an old grade crush was telling me he liked me. I haven't seen this guy since grade school.

  • Hi everyone. Happy Friday. Went in for my first ultrasound yesterday and said I was five weeks and 5 days. Saw the gestational sac and the little heart moving. It's starting to get more exciting although I'm still a little nervous. How is everyone today?
  • Ok ladies - the nausea is in full force this week and I leave on Sunday for a cruise to Alaska. I don't have any prescription nausea meds but what has worked for you ladies? I'm assuming we can't take any over the counter meds like dramamine, or meclezine? I have a relief band which seems to give some relief (lol) and I also just got some Preggie Pops.

In Norway we won't hear it until 18 weeks, as they believe hearing it to early will warm up something, so they just show you. Which is amazing too but can't wait to hear it! @ultratomato

I'm showing too a little, they noticed at the hospital at 13 weeks @mskeenan.

  • *lurking*  Instead of preggo pops, try jolly ranchers.  It's the sugar that actually helps settle your stomach.  Ginger candy also works as a previous poster mentioned.  Both of these alternatives my be cheaper than the preggo pops (and more widely available).  Can't wait to see you lovely ladies in the 2nd tri thread!!!
