Pregnancy Complaints Week of 5.9.16

Re: Pregnancy Complaints Week of 5.9.16

  • I swear I've never had round ligament pain this early (4.5wks) or this bad in all my pregnancies.  It's always when I make a sudden big movement like going from sitting to standing, it's very sharp and feels like everything down there seized up real tight and it takes a few moments to slowly relax. Yeouch! It doubles me over sometimes and takes my breath away. Luckily I haven't had it in front of an audience yet, because that would make it difficult to explain away. I need an excuse a little less emergent than appendicitis.

We're in Denmark right now for the next month and I feel like every scary thing that could happen has happened. I got food poisoning on my way here (was dehydrated + running a fever), massive sleep deprivation from travel, and then yesterday I sliced my thumb open with a really sharp knife and lost a bit of blood (OH claims it was less than the amount you'd lose in a normal doc office blood draw but I think it was more). The health care system here is not terrific and is very hands-off so it is kind of terrifying not to be able to just drive over to a doctor's office and get checked out and of course, I'm on heightened awareness of every little change, so it's frustrating to know I won't even have the opportunity to hear baby's HB until nearly 10 weeks when I'm back home.

Also: Whenever people talk about flying in trimester, they just talk about morning sickness. But omg the urgency to pee. I never noticed it before, but the time between the seatbelts sign coming on for landing and going off once at the gate? It's upwards of 45 minutes to an hour. I had two separate flights where the second the light went off, I jumped out of my seat a full 2 or 3 seconds before the near-immediate rise of everyone else in the plane just to get back to the bathroom. My OH said there was even a running commentary about me on the first flight when it happened haha.

Yes I'be had this since about then too. It goes for a couple of days and will then come back. Just add sneezing to the list of movements for me.
I've also had stitch which is weird
  • My sense of smell is so strong right now.  Last time I gave away my pregnancy because I was gagging on changing a dirty diaper in front of my mom.  She was like are you pregnant or what?  She could tell by my face :(

  • Is anyone else cold all the time? I don't remember being especially cold last time but I got pregnant in the fall so if I was cold I had an actual reason, not just a poppy seed being stealing all my heat! Last night at dinner I told DH he was going to have to come sit next to me so I could cuddle for warmth.
Also, I'd kill for some mozzarella sticks right now.

Yes, freezing! I remember it from last time too which I thought was so weird. Aren't pregnant women supposed to be hot all the time? Nope!

  • So I pretty much have to trek over the hill and through the woods to get to the bathroom at my office (hooray having only 1 bathroom on each floor!).

Anyways, I was halfway to the ladies' room when all of the sudden the sickeningly sweet smell of breakfast pastries enveloped the whole hallway and I involuntarily gagged the rest of the way to the bathroom. Just thinking about it makes me want to dry heave. Needless to say, I practically ran back to my office after I peed for the fourth time this morning.

Why does it have to be between me and the bathroom...WHY?!?! Damn you, super-sniffer!!!

Sneezing has been a huge RLP trigger for me.  It's so painful and I don't think I had this last time until much later.

  • The constant nausea has begun. I haven't actually thrown up yet but now I'm thinking it's only a matter of time.  Just hoping it's not at work.  Not sure how I would explain that, especially since everyone knows how sick I was with DS.

  • Yes! Same here.
  • I have been having the wonderful diarrhea too.. yay... also I'm so exhausted, the past 2 nights I've just been falling asleep right after dinner and DH has had to take over bedtime for our 3 yr old.  He actually joked last night that with our first pregnancy he was able to play so many video games because I was sleeping all the time and now with a 3 year old he can't cause he has to watch her haha..

  • I've had my first official throw up of the pregnancy today! woo...now it's not just intense nausea. And my eyes are so sensitive, I have to wear my sunglasses just to function, otherwise, I have a migraine mid morning. Is that normal?

@katesmama0706, I am always cold! I had the space heater on most of yesterday (and I live in FL!).

Children are like casseroles; it takes a lot to mess them up.

  • I know ive said this before but by BOOBS! They hurt. I actually gave up and switched to sports bra which oddly enough seems the most comfortable. Except tonight. I have this dinner awards banquet thing so I'm painfully putting on a regular bra. Sports bra wouldn't look great under a dress. I actually tried and tried finding a nice cover or sweater to xover the fact im wearing a sports bra. Nope! Regular it is. It is not awful so I'll manage
  • @MrsRahl  yes yes I do almost every morning and sometimes it is just terrible. Totally normal 1st tri symptom, unfortunately.

  • Round ligament pain was my first sign for my second and this pregnancy, as in before the positive pee stick. It's obnoxious.

  • TMI alert-

Is anyone else having gas problems? My biggest symptom so far is lots of gas and then nagging trapped gas, which I feel on the upper right under my ribs. It's not so much painful as super uncomfortable. It's making my work day interesting...  :#

@hayhay87  Preach. I can clear a room, so I do my darnedest to keep it in. And then it hurts. It's awful.

  • @cjs260 sorry for your pain, but genuinely thrilled someone can commiserate. I've done all the standard panicked googling (do I have an ectopic pregnancy etc), but then it clears and I know the real culprit...

Oh yes. Thanks to the digestive system slowing down during pregnancy, it will be a symptom for the next 8 months. Yippee!
