What's for dinner?

It's the middle of the week, and both my pantry and my inspiration are empty. What do I want for dinner?

  • I'm getting treated to Olive Garden as an early birthday present from my in-laws.

Gimme aaallllllllllllllllll the chicken and gnocchi soup.  <3
  • I'm going to make filet of sole and bok choy. I'm excited for it! yum.

I'm at a loss for inspiration too...I'm tired of the rut we're in.
I might just do breakfast for supper because we don't do that too often and the kids absolutely love it. Hmm... come to think of it pancakes with bananas and strawberries sounds really good. DH will have to make a detour at the grocery store on the way home tonight I think. :)
  • We're having slow cooker southwest soup.   It's potentially pretty much a pantry meal.   The recipe I'm making came from a cookbook but you could likely find one on the internet.

We had this last night - scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, homemade home fries & blueberry pancakes!

    @atcwag that sounds so good!

I I think we're ordering in. We never used to eat out this much but I am so uninspired to cook lately. I usually eat very healthy so I'm kind of disappointed in myself.

We'll probably get Italian because all I crave lately are salads with Italian or vinaigrette dressing!

  • Bucatini (this fresh made gluten free stuff I've found that's so good!) with a 9-hr bolognese sauce I made. SO damn delicious! I should probably throw some veggie together, but really I just want all the carbs.

  • Well, I'm forcing myself to make this roasted vegetable pasta dish that I bought a crap ton of produce for over the weekend. I so don't feel like making it, but I don't want the veggies to go to waste, either. Ugh, chop chop chop!

  • Ironically I see someone else is actually having the same thing but we are doing Cabbage Rolls tonight also!

    Such irony wow
  • Spaghetti & meatballs, because that's what we eat when I'm too lazy to cook. We're still working through an epic batch of meatballs I made and froze a couple months ago.

In trying really hard not to stop at Taco Bell on the way home. I can't make any guarantees.
  • I've been pondering this question for the last 30 min of work. I never feel like cooking any more, but there is no take out I feel like right now either. Last night was ice cream. I am so unhealthy lately, but I did have salads for lunch all week!

:D Now I want blueberries too.... DH is definitely going to have to stop for all the fruit tonight.
  • Whatever looks delicious at the farmers market. I love Wednesdays!

    Homemade ravioli.

okay, maybe not completely homemade. But I am going to boil them and then add sauce... Out of a jar! :)
  • Chicken pesto flatbread pizza. Ya know, JUST like the kind you can get pre-made at Costco.  ;)

  • I have no desire to feed my children. When they were babies/toddlers it was awesome to see them explore, try new foods and grow big and strong. Now they eat more than grown men and quite frankly I may have to sell a kidney to keep up with my grocery bill. Why did I want them to grow again?

  • @comealongponds strawberry rhubarb sounds amazeballs. I can never find rhubarb in our stores but I just bought a ridiculous amount of fresh strawberries. I might just make strawberry pie but it won't be the same!

  • @aquasocks fresh rhubarb has a super short season around here but there's an orchard near me that sells a lot of flash frozen fruit/veggies so that's what I used!

  • Ended up doing flatbreads with hummus, sautéed mushrooms, and tomato/cuke/feta/mint salad, and it was super yum (and super easy). But this thread is giving me lots of ideas for the weekend... I want to eat all of the food.

Pork chops cooked in cream of soup, garlic bread, green beans (or maybe asparagus) and pineapple.

Pork chops is a big go to in our house. And I take no credit for dinner. I clean, H cooks. Works perfect for us :)
  • Turkey chili. I've been having aversions to beans and yet they're one of the only things my kid eats. So chili's on the menu. I smothered it with cheese and dipped chips in it, but it was not what my stomach wanted for dinner.

@Elev429your mention of BLTs made my mouth water though. That sounds so good right now!

@mrs_hoyahoo you just made me want taco soup! It's like chili but instead of chili seasonings you use a packet of taco mix. Then eat it with black olives, cheese and tortilla chips. Yum yum

Decided to get fancy and made crepes with bananas and blueberries (and of course whipped cream), bacon and shredded hashbrowns.

*DH skipped on the strawberries but it was still awesome.

I realize it is way past dinner time now, but I made this One Pan Salmon and Veggies tonight and it was super easy and delicious, so I thought I'd share:

  • I cooked rice and pork souvlaki, but it smelled bad.
Apparently only a junior bacon cheeseburger and fries with cheese sauce from Wendy's would fix it. That, or I haven't eat there in like 6 years, since I spent 6 years working there. Meh.

Yesterday I had toast with butter and frozen chicken nuggets. We skipped grocery shopping bc we had a friend in town this past weekend and ever since have had multiple doctor appointments for both kids. Been a rough week. Tonight...fish sticks?
  • Absolutely no clue, but I have school stuff this evening and so it's my husband's responsibility to figure out supper.

  • Last night we had Dominos, bad...  :#

I WILL do better tonight! Currently at least planning on making the corn on the cob in the fridge. Corn always makes me think it's summer time!

We should make this a weekly thread for anyone that does weekly meal planning! I've been out of it for a while because I just eat whatever sounds good but I need to start planning better!

  • I would love it if we made this a weekly thread. I'm so bored with all of our regular food. DH keeps trying to make me eat veggies and it's nice but I realllllyyy don't want to eat veggies right now. We're literally in the middle of renovating our kitchen and won't have a functioning sink or floors or countertops until Monday so I think DS and I are going out for pizza while DH is at work late.
