Leaving LO for the weekend :(

This weekend my husband and I are going to Vegas. As much as I am excited about going, I feel guilty for leaving baby :( I know I am going to have a hard time leaving him for two days since this is the first time I will be away from him that long. My plan was to leave him with my parents the whole weekend but my mom works Friday. I decided to let my MIL take care of him Friday and have my mom pick him up Saturday morning. I feel more comfortable knowing my SIL will help my MIL with LO. I gave my SIL an idea of how LO's day goes so she can know. Would it be bad if I left a list of all of his feedings and what he can or can't eat? (Pretty much make a schedule for them lol)

@rosalbap2 So I haven't done this...yet... but I have a weekend in July I will be leaving my LO and I have been a wreck ever since it was planned. I will be leaving my LO with my DH, and even then I will be leaving a list (I always do even when its a day he stays home with our LO). I think it helps them know really what to expect or what certain fussy periods MAY be, etc. So I will say I would leave a list.. and if they seem a little off put by it explain that it was made more for YOU to feel ok :)  I know I will be. I am even taping a nighttime routine list on the wall upstairs in the nursery, little reminders about sunscreen, Tylenol dosage, his medicine he gets in the morning and night time, etc.  I may be a little overbearing but if anything it makes ME feel better :) And I also keep telling myself that there is always the phone! You can text, call, facetime, etc.  I am going to follow this post tho for any other advice people may have because I am also still a wreck.  I am worried about my supply (we are currently breastfeeding) and I am worried he will not want to continue when I get home :(    WE can do this! :) IT is good for mommy and daddy time.. and vegas! You'll have a blast!

@ABombard12 Thank you :) As much as I always say my husband and I need some us time, I know it will be hard. Seriously thank God for technology! I will be using facetime a lot while I am out there lol. How many days are you leaving your LO?

@rosalbap2 It is my best friends 30th birthday and well she doesn't have any other girlfriends that are showing up (needless to say the rest of her friends I don't care for they never are there for her) so its me and her sisters going to the Cape for a weekend... its supposed to be Thurs to Sunday but I couldn't do it.... my LO is still not sleeping through the night and I worry so much. So... I am going to put him to bed on Friday and then head over right after -- late night driving but worth the bedtime snuggles before I go. I wont be back until Sunday evening, So about the same..

Its hard right? I keep thinking wow a night not waking up (im sure we still will out of habit) but like rest? no diaper to change? but then I think ... :( Im gonna miss him so much.....we need to think Ok we will be 100% when we come back and that much better moms! right? ha yes.

Ive left the boys once with my mom in January for the weekend & she knew their feeding times(i have them on a schedule). She knew how much to give & what time. I told her what do before bed time & what to do if they got fussy. I also took things from home like their little bouncy chairs & their rock-n-play(this saved her big time). So try taking things that will make him feel comfy that he usually uses @ home since he wont be home. When my mom babysits for me for a few hours if DH & i go to dinner or a movie(once or twice  a month) i also let her know around what time they fall asleep for naps & what time they wake.

& I think its good for you to write out a list because it will not only help you feel better but help them as well. You can also ask them to send you pictures every few hours or so. But really try to enjoy your time once you're out there & they send you pics of him happy & when you call & check on him & see that hes doing fine you'll end up enjoying your little getaway.

Everything will be fine. I promise.

Congratulations!  We love Vegas trips.  Our LO has had a few overnight trips with grandparents, but we recently left her with them for 4 nights while we went to Napa.  It was amazing!  Our mothers both expressed wanting more information about caring for LO rather than less and said it wasn't crazy but rather made their jobs easier to keep her on a schedule and with everything she was used to.  So I recommend making all the lists!  I did my lists on large ziploc bags that held the necessary items in them.  So there was a list for bottles with the bottles and formula inside, a list for solids with the bowls and spoons and food inside, a baggie with clothes and diapers for each day, a baggie with backup outfits for blowouts, a schedule for bedtime routine with bath items and book and sleep sack in it, etc.  They loved and appreciated the organization, and LO stayed on her schedule napping well, eating well, and sleeping 7p-7a each day.
Enjoy your trip!  We're heading to Vegas in October.

@ABombard12 Thank you :) A girls weekend should be fun! I still haven't done that since I've had my son and hardly hang out with my girlfriends.  Enjoy yourself :) If he is staying with your husband that is even better.

@vibarra27 Thank you for the advice I will definitely take everything he uses at home. That is awesome that you and your husband take time to go on dates. We have only been to one and it was a baseball game. It definitely felt weird without the baby lol.

I would love a weekend away but I totally understand the apprehension- nothing to feel guilty about, though! The longest I've been away from LO was about 6 hours when I had to have outpatient surgery to have my gallbladder removed. My mom watched LO and I totally left her notes. She was understanding- the way I see it you're doing them the favor by trying to make their day easier (if your kid is anything like mine and screwing up routine throws him into a bad mood) I left her a loose schedule (nap times, meal times for solids, and when he usually takes bottles) he wasn't eating any table food at the time so she knew where purees for him were. Now that he is eating Table food I probably would leave them the "important" food info. Like what allergens to stay away from (peanut butter, strawberries, etc) and then what he "normally" eats.

if it makes you feel better and makes their lives easier while they have lo I really don't see a problem with it.

I'll be leaving LO for the night for the first time next month with the hubby, and we'll both be leaving him with grandma overnight for the first time in July when we're both in a wedding. I know he will be just fine (he loves grandma and she watches him every day when we're at work), but it's still tough! I know I'm going to miss him! But it's also good for us to have our adult time and time with our men!

I am a huge fan of lists! I have left instructions for the grandmas from day 1 with when/what to feed him, when he needs to nap, tips to help him get to sleep, what to do if he cries, etc. You know your baby better than anyone else, so anything that could help is worth it!

I'm going to Vegas this weekend too! It's a work trip, so she'll be with her dad. I'm in the minority I guess. I know she'll be fine and I'm really looking forward to getting to adult for a weekend. I'm debating whether to leave a list or just let him wing it and check my texts frequently. The only things I'm worried about are missing her terribly and not being able to carry on a proper conversation that doesn't involve baby all the time.
Try to enjoy your trip, trust that everyone will be ok, and FaceTime all you want! And I hope we both have good luck in the casinos!

I had to leave DD for 5 days in March.  I only called home during that time becauSe I knew that would make it harder on me.  Definitely make a schedule!  I'm sure your family would appreciate it!

I totally understand how you feel.  We are going out of town next weekend.  We are going to LA for the weekend and will leave mid day Saturday and come home mid day Monday.  I am a nervous wreck...just how my personality is!  My parents will be coming to our house to watch our son.  I definitely plan on leaving detailed notes and a schedule of what his day is typically like.  I'm just so worried about his sleep...worried he won't take naps, or for some reason wake up all night long for them.  Or what if he cries the whole time.  I need to think positively that everything will go just fine!  My parents are great with him, so I just need to relax and let it go.  My husband and I have only been out alone less than 5 times since he was born, never overnight. We really need this break.  It will be nice having some "us" time again.  Have a blast in Vegas, we haven't been for awhile and can't wait to get back again!

    Thank you ladies :)
@shelbydd I'm with you on the food part. My mom knows exactly what LO eats but my concern is that my MIL will give him something he is not supposed to eat. She gave him a piece of bread the other day and I was upset and told her he doesn't eat that. He gagged after he tasted it.

@cmlu Thank you same too you! I don't gamble much, but the hubs does lol. I agree with you about being excited about getting to adult and have a few cocktails because it has been a while!

So glad you enjoyed it and your son enjoyed time with grandmas! My daughter said "dada" for the first time this weekend, so he was in lala land and loved the one on one time. Little breaks are good for our sanity, and good for others to get to love on our littles!
