Re: Does the name fit?
When DD2 was born, she was supposed to be an Anna, but DH and I took one look at her and knew it just didn't fit. I'm so glad we changed it to Sylvia. It fits her so well.
everyone loves his name a lot, but I did have troubling calling him it for a while. He was just "Buddy, Buddy". Then we would insert his first name in front of that. I don't know if it also helped that we knew what we were calling him since week 13... I almost feel like that was a mistake because I imagined him one way, and he popped out differently.
It's a boy! Grow baby, grow! EDD: 4/22/2016
I want to throat punch family members that call him Petey though.
I call him Owen. My father in law however insists on calling him Peter or Pete.
However, my husband has a hard time with it for some reason and keeps calling her Gretchen! LOL
My friend has always given her kids really abstract names with Norwegian spellings. Once I heard her tell a family member that she has never questioned the name because over time that kid will always look like that name.
Introducing her by her full name felt so weird at first, but the more I use it the more natural it sounds. For me it's mainly because we didn't share her name beforehand, so we called her a lot of pet names during pregnancy. I got so used to calling her Cookie, that she owned Cookie right out of the gate, while she still had to make Lorenza her own once she arrived. And I also think that we spent so much time discussing a variety of names for this person we hadn't met yet, that once we met her it took us a while to associate said "hypothetical" name with this actual human. But this is fading now at 3 weeks PP, it's becoming her name more and more. Especially since DH is much better than I am at calling her by name and I just adore how he says her name....
That said, no, I have zero naming regret. I'm absolutely loving the name we picked!
Home, healthy & happy
~ A., A. & L.J. - our family is complete ~
She looks Asian, like her dad. He's Filipino. I was thinking we'd give her a Filipino name, but DH was against it.
LO's name: Alessandra Marie.
DH calls her Alex. I don't call her anything yet, besides "My bambina" when she's upset and I'm trying to calm her.
Maybe "Aly" when she gets older (how do you spell that? Ally? Allie?)
She doesn't look like Alex or an Ally though...
Naming is hard!
