Weekly Randoms 5-9

I thought with our random thread rapidly approaching 3000 comments it is time to start fresh..  If we do weekly randoms it might keep everyone included.
My random for today is a silver lining for all.  No matter what your May due date is in less than 5 weeks we will all be holding our little ones.  :)

I was sooooo close to leaving the Mother's Day party yesterday without any unnecessary questions/comments. Unfortunately DH and I got swarmed on our way out the door and we got to hear all about when to go to the hospital, how having 6 kids means you know more than my doctor, how slow/fast/painful it will be, the difference between your first and next, and how apparently we have to call everyone so they can visit us at the hospital. I told DH we should have just snuck out, especially since we were leaving because I was exhausted
  • I am seriously at my wits end with the check-ins every day. I might just stop responding.

Sounds stupid but I'm so over doctors appointments. I have to leave work early to get to mine because my work is 45-60min away from my doctor's office. And now leaving work early once a week makes me feel ugh, like people are side-eyeing me. All to drive that far, pee in a cup, and not really have anything to report. Guess I should be glad that as of now, I have no ailments or concerns. But I feel like these last couple doctor's appointments are pretty anti-climactic.

(watch I just totally jinxed myself and I'll probably go into labor on the side of the road something dramatic)
@clw617 I know what you mean.  I've been trying to schedule my appointments for early in the morning so I can get them over with and not have to leave work early, but now that they're every week and I can't schedule them as far in advance, the early slots are hard to get.  My next one is in the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday. It's really disruptive when you're trying to get all the loose ends tied up before going on leave.

there's a big soccer game on tv that day. He's only half joking. My husband told me I can't go into labor until my EDD because one of his employees is out of town until then, and he's covering that guy's workload himself until he gets back.  Part of me hopes LO does come before then so he has to scramble to figure it out.  That's what he should get for poor planning!  I mean, he's known this date for nearly 9 months now!

@swflJD A few weeks ago I just decided to schedule all the rest of my appointments. It did make it a lot easier to get the times I wanted and I was hoping to just cancel the last few... looks like I will be attending all of them though.
  • I'm so done with work.  I'm due the 23rd, the 18th is my last day unless I go earlier than that (I'm quite sure I won't) and I'm just DONE.  I needed to take a personal day for this coming Weds. for an electrician to come do some work, and I've never been so excited to put in for a 1/2 day before!  I just want to be DONE with work (also to be done with pregnancy, but that'll be a while yet, I'm sure).

I wish Mac & cheese would induce labor. Screw pineapple! I am so obsessed with panera's Mac & cheese right now and the only thing it's doing for me is making me gain more weight!
    Add hot sauce to it!

My OB's office would only let me schedule up to 2 in advance, so I got a morning one for next week, and (hopefully) I get a morning one for the next week when I go to this week's appointment.  Or, better yet, maybe I won't end up needing any of them!
  • I've been having stomach "cramps" all morning (since 8:30am, it's now 11:30am) and I've had diarrhea. (I was going to say TMI, but what's the point!) I thought it was just stomach cramps from my stomach issues (I have issues with my stomach from time to time when I eat the wrong foods, thanks to ibuprofen messing my stomach up a couple of years ago) but now I don't think it is because my stomach is getting hard when it happens, so I am assuming contractions. I had my appointment with the midwife this morning and told her what was going on and she got really excited. She felt his position and said he has dropped and is in the perfect position. She told me, "now go home and PACK YOUR HOSPITAL BAG!!" She said, "we might see you next week, we might not!" So I don't know what this is. It's seriously uncomfortable though. We shall see, I guess. I am going to type up my birth plan, just incase and DH is going to print it out at work today.
This is me today too.  I'm not expecting it's going to actually turn into anything since I'm not due til the 28th, but I'm definitely feeling crampy, nauseous and like it might just be that I need to poop.  I have a Dr appt at 3:30 so we'll see what happens between now and then.
  • I'm over all of it at this point. I'm exhausted, swollen and just want to sit on the couch, in the AC, with my feet up and binge watch a TV show (preferably Friends or HIMYM). That's all.

Oh, I also have 2 1/2 weeks left. Awesome.

    Oh god yes.

I made the mistake of posting a FB update on it yesterday (what can I say, I was excited to have all the heavy lifting done at work -- FINALLY -- after working furiously through the entire weekend), and oh my goooddd all the nitwit comments. They're all well-meaning and nothing offensive, but seriously, come on people, ideally when you post a comment it is for some purpose other than demonstrating how inane you are.

"full term is 40 weeks!" no really? thanks, I had no idea about that, it's totally not been the focal point of all my obsessions for the last three months or anything.

"you haven't even dropped yet!" that's weird because I'm pretty sure my doctor said the other thing A MONTH AGO. but no it's cool go ahead and diagnose my medical status based on a work bathroom selfie, that's totally a thing that sane people do.

"panic mode at work = nesting!" whaaaat. panic mode at work = forcing myself to put in 18-hour days through week after week of late pregnancy exhaustion so my co-workers don't get stuck picking up high-stakes murder cases while I'm out on maternity. pretty sure "nesting" is the opposite of that on, like, every level.

    graa

I realize I'm just being cranky and it's untoward to complain about friends and relatives being interested, but COME ON.
I'm feeling the same way. I'm 39 weeks + 3 days at this point and I'm finally at the point where I am done. I'm ready to be done even though she'll be early. I've started giving this child pep talks about how awesome it is on the outside.
  • I'm 40w1d and ready to be done. I get 2-4 hours of sleep a night (and yes I know an infant won't give me much sleep either but at least there is a REASON).  I'm tired of everyone saying "Wait til (insert date) because it's the day I guessed/some random persons birthday!"  DH wants to take off work worse than I want to be done being pregnant but he's against inducing Thursday on the off chance LO is born Friday, which is the 13th LOL

I like to schedule my appointments first thing in the morning because it doesn't allow the clinic to get behind, so I have little to no waiting.  I've heard that it's helpful to schedule all of your pediatrician appointments right away if you can.  This is especially true if you have a couple days of the week that work better than others.  Obviously  you can move them around if things pop up.

My husband decided to comment on an attractive picture of my best friend saying how good she looks, like I don't already feel like a total slob! My overly sensitive pregnancy brain cannot handle it haha

@itsbrookejones that would definitely bother me! Nothing like hearing how great someone looks when you don't feel like you do!
  • @amberraysofdawn , YES! I hope so! Good luck. Maybe mental will power can will it into being, think fierce!

I was having some BH & lower pressure earlier today, but now I have such bad heartburn that I  honestly can't tell if I'm still having BH or it's just the heartburn.  It wraps all the way around just under my breastbone and on my back it feels like someone is trying to shove a dowel rod through me... this one little intense spot of pain radiating out aside from the more general pain in the front.  Ooh and the prescription the MW sent in for heartburn was denied by my insurance so that's awesome too.
