  • My HR director left me a chocolate bar and a note saying she's sorry she doesn't see me very often and hopefully we'll be able to meet up soon. She's so sweet. Cue the hormonal tears.

My kids are killing me with smells. They had cupcakes left from DD's birthday after dinner and the overwhelming sugar smell made my stomach turn. Now DS, who sleeps next to me, smells strongly of Irish spring soap bc he got into a box of it this morning while DH was showering.
  • Practicing parenting tonight unexpectedly. Unfortunately a close friend may have appendicitis and she and her dh are at the hospital. My dh and I are babysitting their ten month old for the first time- def their longest term both away and first overnight babysitter. An interesting night for sure, and they don't know we are expecting yet.

DS made me an adorable Mothers Day gift in daycare (they finger-painted the background to make a frame for a picture of them). But he didn't want to give it to me. He was soooo proud of it he had to carry it around for an hour first. Only then could I have it :).

My students are absolutely crazy this time of year. We have 2 weeks left of school, the weather is beautiful, and the carnival is in town. Lord help me!

  • Just got back from my NT scan! Baby was being uncooperative so I got to watch him for a long time while the tech tried to get a picture of him in the right position for the test. Got to see those little arms and legs waving around! The tech also said she was pretty darn sure she saw a penis waving around in there too :)

  • My wonderful husband just brought me Chick fil a for lunch at work since he's off today. I asked for grilled chicken but his instincts kicked in and he brought me a crispy chicken just incase. He knows me well. Soon as I opened the grilled, I gagged and nearly puked. Then tried to eat the crispy, but couldn't eat. So, I just took the rest of the day off because I'm starving but so nauseated. I can't wait for this part to be done!

  • Went home for lunch and watched my neighbor's car get towed. It's been parked on the street and hasn't moved in weeks,  so at first,  I assumed that they were bringing it to a mechanic... Then I realized that the tow truck driver pulled up, hooked up, and drove away without ever getting out, which makes me think that they will get home from work today to discover that their car has disappeared unexpectedly.

Is your neighbor ok? Have you seen them? Idk what this says about me but I read this and thought "omg they're dead."
We own a duplex and live upstairs. Last year our downstairs tenant was discovered dead in her bed when her friend came to check on her since she wasn't answering her phone. She was 37.
Oh god I sound so morbid.. I hope I'm wrong!

@whaat I thought that same thing.  I lived in a townhome complex a few years ago (before DH) and one of my neighbors had been dead for several weeks and none of us knew.  When the police asked me all I knew was his big huge truck had been parked over the line and hadn't moved in weeks.  So sad!

  • @whaat and @msu_gal they're big gardeners,  so we see them outside regularly. They've get three adult children (two if which live with them) and I think the car belongs to one of their sons. They are nice people,  but they are a little odd... They recently informed us that they're looking into getting a couple roosters (in addition to the 14 chickens they already own), so DH and my opinion of them has really gone downhill since learning that our subdivision may soon  be getting a pair of alarm clocks. (haha... Alarm cocks? Laughing way too hard at this right now).

They're just the type of people who let us know that the dropped $2k on gardening supplies,  then complain that they can't afford to fix their air conditioner. *shrug* my guess is their son or whoever owns the car stopped making payments.

@AmandaR417, our neighbors have a rooster and chickens. I generally only hear the rooster when I'm outside, and it's such a familiar sound that it kinda blends into the background noise, like the sound of a car going by. That said, our bedroom window is on the opposite side of the house from the chickens/rooster. I hope it doesn't turn out to be too much of a bother for you!
  • That's awesome @Thewizardofrhythm ! My SIL and BIL are 3 weeks ahead of us (also very close) so it's awesome going through the pregnancy together.

I just spent way too much time watching this gif. I think it's my new favorite.

  • Just bought 4 new bras. I've been so uncomfortable lately. Happy Mother's Day to me!!

  • Speaking of bras. I went and bought a few of the cross-front soft nursing/sleep bras- VERY comfortable. Having no support at night was killing me, so I needed something. Wearing one last night gave me way better sleep than I've been getting. I'm hoping the tenderness fades away sometime soon, because I feel like o shouldn't have a bra on for at least a few hours a day-- like to air them out, ya know?

Also, I'm only a 34c right now, so I can't imagine how much they're going to hurt when my milk comes in!!

  • @aquasocks - That's something that I need to do. I'm down to one that fits. Any suggestions?
  • My poor puppy had to be rushed to the 24hr animal hospital last night because he had an awful lump on his throat and was crying. I was sure he'd chewed a part off of one of DD's toys and swallowed it or something but it turned out to be an abscess from an infected wound. The dog walker told me he got into a little fight with another dog in the drop off van on the way home on Wednesday (some older dog probably annoyed at his puppy playfulness) but I didn't realize he'd been bitten because it was under his chin. Now I feel like an awful dog mommy for not finding it sooner. The poor little guy is so sad and uncomfortable and pathetic looking in his cone of shame.

Well I haven't had any opportunities to shop for myself lately, so I bought returnable ones online. So when the bras get here I'm hoping at least 2 of them fit.

  • @DunkinDecaf I hope everything is okay with the pup.  One of ours had a piece of his ear nipped off in one of the vans and they didn't even know (or at least didn't say anything!)  We changed to single walking after.  Our other pup is acting lethargic and not eating much/losing a little weight. She's only 3, so I'm a bit worried.  The vet said all blood work is good, but I know she's not ok.

Makes me nervous for my future mommy role...

  • @mrsjlang if you're going up a size or 2 I definitely recommend wireless. Then you can use it after baby too :) I ended up getting a couple from Hanes outlet store last time that could be for a range of sizes and it worked out really well. But I never went above a 34C/D so it wasn't like I had huge boobs that needed a ton of support.

Thanks! He's okay, it wasn't that serious. I had them switch him to a different group and different walker, so we'll see how it goes. I hope your little one is okay!! If your instincts say something is wrong, there usually is. Poor little guy :(

@nauticallife thanks for the suggestion! I've got one Warner's wireless that I love (and the only one that currently fits right now).

I was a 36C before and they're already starting to scare me with how fast they're growing.
