I believe in the power of pineapple cores. Sometimes I'm kind of convinced I had my son early because of sex and eating pineapple cores. Flame away because it sounds ridiculous!
  • I'm making DH do my perineum massage at night even though technically there's a way I can reach to do it myself. It's just so much easier if he does it for me. Lol
  • @gray51015 I totally do too. No shame here.
  • I was feeling very smug last week when all the comments I was getting from strangers were like (directed at DH) "I hope you tell her what a cute mama she is every day!" and "You look so great!"

Then on Saturday I got my first "You're like really pregnant, huh? Like, any day now?"

No... more like 6.5 weeks... but, thanks for bursting my ego bubble

Told my husband he has to start this at 34 weeks (33+6 today). He may kill me but I don't care!

  • With both of my other kids I have only stayed 24 hours in the hospital after giving birth. It has always felt so rushed, and this time I kind of want to spend the two nights that is covered even though I know that means being away from the older kids a little longer, which is hard.

Im sure my husband would loose it if I told him, so I haven't even decided if I want to bring it up or not.

Doesn't it hurt? I did mine for the first time the other night and it was not fun. I can't imagine having someone else do it for me and not being able to tell how hard to do it.

Am I the only one who hasn't given any thought to this whatsoever? I feel like I may regret it.....
I haven't ever done it, and this is my third baby. I don't know if it would have helped, but my births went relatively easily (the delivery part that is) with only four stitches needed after my first birth, and one after my second. I don't think I'll do it this time either

Phew. This makes me feel a little better. I was planning on procrastinating long enough that I would end up not doing it at all.

I chose not to use an infant car seat and instead purchased the graco 4ever all in one seat. Everyone keeps saying I will regret not being able to just take the infant carrier out of the car and he will wake up when I take him out of the graco seat. I just don't see the point of a car seat that they can only use for a short period of time.
You might regret it haha. Even if your baby uses it for 9 or 10 months, that's 9 or 10 months of naps/bedtime that you interrupt. Plus when they are uber-little you just throw it in a frame stroller and go about your errands/dates. I am literally the biggest fan of my car seat/frame stroller combo, and will admit extreme bias :)

My best friend had a regular car seat with her first and she was totally fine. She got an infant seat for #2 and admits it's much better, at least with two kids, because the first one can sleep while they go out to dinner etc.

I read it really only helps with baby #1 cause if you tore in the past the scar tissue can't stretch.  It hurt the first day we tried it but it was because he didn't put his fingers in far enough but after that it's been fine. He says I apparently strech a lot, which I guess is good.  We came up with hand signals I can give him to say either pull harder or lighten up.

@mrsschmity- I totally haven't even thought about it. I'm not totally sure what it is/does, but I'm gonna go ahead and say I'm not doing it. Can't I just spray some PAM down there right before he comes out? (I hope some of you have seen Baby Mama..)

Watching Baby Mama now is 1000x more hilarious than it was back when I was in high school. The scene with her not being able to swallow the prenatal vitamins was me.

My FFFC is that I still haven't bought cards and presents for my mom and MIL for Mother's Day. I am usually crazy on top of it, but this year my mind is BLANK. No clue what to get them.

ETA: I have never done the massage thing either but since I had a third degree tear the first time (tiny baby, but sunny side up + forceps) perhaps I would have been better off. It sounds worth a try.

I am usually the person at King soopers on Mother's Day morning hurriedly buying them plants before we go over lol.

The bigger and more lazy I have gotten the more tv I allow my girls to watch. I plopped them on one of their beds with the iPad on pbs shows and let them go til that sucker died last night.

I hated the baby bucket and have no regrets! I do agree 100% with @Emztron500 about having a sling or whatever works best for you to wear baby. It even worked fine for us in restaurants and such.

The only reason I've even tried perineal massage (and it was literally 2 days ago) is because I have the house all to myself. I have doubts that I'll continue all the weird pregnancy stuff I've been doing (perineal massage, hypnobirthing tracks, squats and cat/cow's for baby positioning...) once my husband is home to judge me. But we'll see.

Haha I do all that stuff too and DH is just like "does this stuff work?" .."no idea"... "Well... As long as it makes you happy, just let me know if you need anything". Bet he regrets offering that now lol

My OB was stretching everything when I was pushing. It worked pretty well, I only had a few stitches. DH still says he can't believe what she was doing. So I won't do it ahead of time, I'll just wait for the big moment!

I have pain during sex if it's been awhile so I'm really worried that I'm a speshul snowflake/delicate flower.

My husband is also a nurse so he doesn't get grossed out easily which makes it easier for me to ask him.

The nurse I had with DS1 was doing it when I was in labor. It was miserable. My contractions were almost 2 minutes long, and she was stretching me in between so I had no rest or time to catch my breath. My epidural had worn off. It sucked.  It was effective though, and with DS2 I didn't need it done at all. I had the same amount of tearing each time.

  • @laurendiaz02 I also elected not to buy the infant car seat. I'm glad to see that a few people have said it's manageable, because it seems much easier to me to put the baby in a sling than to haul around the carseat. Plus, I keep telling myself, if we're really miserable without it then we can always get one quickly from Amazon.

Agreed!  We have the ergo 360 and the baby bjorn carriers so we will be using those. Our bugaboo stroller also has the bassinet attachment so baby will be in there until he can sit in the seat attachment.
  • SMLmomSMLmom member
@laurendiaz02 you'll love the ergo... it was basically all I used for the first three months.  I did get some use out of the stroller with car seat (I don't drive so we walk everywhere) but if you have the bassinet, I'm sure you'll be fine.  My friend used that and it always looked so comfy for her son.
  • I keep getting cash back when I go to grocery stores so that I'll have cash on me for the hospital. In case DH wants something from a vending machine or what not. The problem is that I keep spending it on the vending machines at work. I need my afternoon snack! Apparently me having the cash is a bad idea.
  • For some reason all I want this afternoon is cream soda and salt and vinegar chips, and I'm super grumpy that I don't have either of these things in the house.

We would have done the all in one car seat but in our state it is required to have an infant carrier for some reason.
  • @adiaz132003 That's so odd. I was actually getting paranoid about being able to leave the hospital after seeing several people post about having to bring the infant seat in so they can see that you have it, so I made sure to double check at my last appointment that they would let us carry the baby out and put him in the carseat in the car.

Yeah my midwife said that they wanna see the seat before we go. They don't check the installation but they make sure you have the right seat.
