Baby Boy Name Poll: Harrison or Weston

Hello, my husband and I are torn between Harrison and Weston for the name of our first baby.

The middle name will be Norman (not my idea--family middle name on my husband's side).  I've always liked the name Harrison, and am not opposed to nicknames Harris or Harry.  However, I worry Harrison Norman sounds a little too sweet and nerdy.  Weston sounds traditional (which I like), but has a little more swagger to balance Norman.  While I like the nickname West, I do not like Wes.

Which name do you prefer?  I'm 36 weeks pregnant, and need help deciding soon.  Thanks!

Re: Baby Boy Name Poll: Harrison or Weston

  • I prefer Harrison.
Weston, to me, is very trendy.
Note that both names end in -n.  There's some alliteration there.  It might bother me but not a huge deal if it doesn't bother you.
    Me: 1979 * Husband: 1976 * Little girl: 2010 * Little guy: 2013 * MMC: 2016 * Last baby: EDD 2/11/17!

  • Of the two Harrison for sure

Weston is so trendy. I like the nn Wes but much prefer Wesley to get that

  • Harrison of the two, but both names are clunky with Norman.

  • Between the two I prefer Weston Norman. But I don't love either of them with mn Norman, since they all have the same ending. Harrison Norman sounds like a pair of last names. What about Wesley?
  • Weston but ditto on it being a little too close to the Norman ending kmvisioli said:

Wesley doesn't work since OP likes West but not Wes

I guess I was thinking just stick with whole "Wesley" and skip the nn. Or maybe Westley so you can use West? I wouldn't do just West Norman since that sounds like a place rather than a name.
  • I guess I don't find Weston trendy because I'm in my 30's and grew up with several of them. LOL My vote is Weston.

That is not an example of alliteration. Alliteration means the words begin with the same letter.
  • Agree with previous comments that both sound odd with Norman but it's a family name and that's more important. If you don't like Wes then I think We stone is out because it's inevitable someone is going to start calling him that.
