What I dont get is why everybody thinks drinking the milk from cows is not even weirder. They dont produce milk for humans but for their babies too. And we just take it from them because we are used to. When they had an oversupply we thought "oh poor cow lets help her" and then we decided drinking it. And now the veals dont even get to eat it.
I have only used my milk on me for some skin problems like on my baby. And I would not drink someone else's breastmilk. But mine would not weird me out at all, for now I still have room in my freezer though.

I don't think it was so much drinking her own, but claiming that it was a weight loss miracle. If my milk could make people lose weight, I would be a damn millionaire.
I tasted my milk, and it tastes like straight up sugar water. Disclaimer: I tasted it to make sure it wasn't sour from too much lipase after having many moms tell me that it could happen.

I don't think you need a disclaimer. I thought about it but nope. Not for me.
@poupoule My husband feels the same way about the cows. He doesn't understand why we don't all drink human milk. I make just enough for my baby, so I am not going to pick up a human milk habit, but if these last 5 pounds don't come off soon I might be tempted! (Jk)

I tasted my own milk because why not? It doesn't taste terrible, but I also don't want to drink a big glass of it either. Haha.

I don't drink milk, period. So I think both are weird.
I'll share my journey into weight loss. Over all '14 years and 5 children later' I have gained 70 pounds. After the twins were born, and csection recovery time I was gaining weight and realized I needed to make a change. At first I tried any you tube workout video and stumbled into Lindsay Brinn's postnatal workouts. Over the next 6 weeks, I did her workouts religiously Monday through Friday. I thinned out a bit but was actually gaining weight still. Darn those muscles!!! So 3 weeks ago, I again stumbled into Lindsay Brinn's 1200 calorie a day meal plan. It is also free online. That first week, I was so hungry I didn't know if I could keep it up. But I stepped on the scale and I had dropped 4 pounds! The second week, I was still hungry but it was much more manageable. I dropped another 2 pounds. This week has been easier hunger wise and without the 8 pounds I had extra, I can do the whole 20 minutes cardio session. I am also wearing a pair of size 14 pants I haven't been able wear in a very long time. Next month, if all goes well I will be moving on to Pretty Feirce. I can't wait to see the new me under all the pudge. I will add an update here and there if anyone is interested. My DH is also following the diet and he dropped about 12 pounds so far. As for breast feeding, I am still producing as much milk as I was before, and still supplementing. The twins are doing great and I have more bounce in my step.
@cedixon2 I would be interested in updates! Congrats on finding something that is working for you! I have around 70 to lose as well.
Before I met my husband I was vegetarian (vegan mostly), ate really healthy and ran almost everyday. It's funny to think about it now but when we met I wanted to lose 5lbs and my husband wanted to lose 8. Over 6 years I have gained 50 and my husband 60. That's not counting my baby weight So my first goal is to be at prepregnancy weight and then my next is to be close or at my original/target weight. I've lost 9 so far. It would be easier if my husband would join in on the fun but right now I just make him not eat sweets infront of me
Update: i cheated on my diet and ate cake, went to movies to see Cpt America and had popcorn and raisinettes! And went to Dairy Queen and had an Oreo blizzard. I managed to keep the calories down though and dropped 3 more pounds! 176.2 now. I honestly felt like I had eaten a brick on the days I cheated
Yep I spoke anout it at work and we made some research. No negative effects, but no proofs of positives either I would not drink human milk without knowing the lifestyle/total health of the person. Which is why I dont drink cow milk either... Once you really know how a lot of cow farms are, you cant be sure the milk you drink is from a happy and healthy cow.
Well I was 110 when we got pregnant, then my last weigh in was 175. I have been stuck at 140 since February. So I'm changing a few of my eating habits and just bought a new jogger stroller to do my Couch to 5k program. If any Momma's are interested in starting to jog or run I recommend looking it up. I hate running but this is the first program I've actually been able to participate in.
Update: moment of truth weight and measurements done 1 time per month reveals that in the last 30 days I have dropped 11 pounds and lost 6 inches overall. That puts me at 173 and a tight size 14. My shirts are a lot roomier but I don't need new smaller clothes yet. Maybe next month! I will do another update if anyone is interested.
The coolest thing about being more active/ eating better is the rekindled bounce in my step and I am not as moody.
I will add that this week I have fallen off the diet wagon a bit on Mother's Day and ate a whole lot of chocolate... Like 1600 calories worth bad. It was hard getting back into the diet after that. It took about 3 days to get back on track and lose that bloated ate like shit and loved it feeling.
method/tools used: DH support and cooperation(he's on the diet too) 1200 calorie diet plan Lindsay Brinn's Postnatal Fitness DVD phase 1 walking 45 - 90 minutes 5 times a week apps used to track progress and calendar workout tracker: My Fitness Pal and MIF (momsintofitness)
I start the phase 2 work outs on Monday and am truly excited over my results so far!
How do I fill up on 1200 calorie diet? Methods: green it up!! 3 cups of lettuce only has 15 calories. Avoid adding bread/pasta to the plate. Track and measure the portion if I have to have it before I indulge. eat slowly! It takes 20 minutes for the brain to say Ok, I'm full, put the fork down! My diet isn't perfect. I drink diet soda, sugar free creamer in my coffee, lots of water, temptation everywhere lol.
low calorie dishes I really like so far: 1 multigrain waffle with .5 banana and .5 cup berries. Tex Mex quinoa salad: quinoa, onion, bell pepper, black beans, corn, cucumber,Italian dressing. Delicious huge portion. Recipe link is on my fitness tracker app and calls for grilled chicken. Taco Soup: recipe found on Linday Brinn's 1200 calorie meal plan. We have to be careful with the add ins here but it's so good! a piece of dark chocolate here and there won't bust my diet and keeps me sane
My mom followed a strict 1200 calorie diet for over a year and if you want I can pass on some things she found.
ETA she's added some calories back in over the last year to slow the loss and learn to maintain so I think she's up to 1600 daily and still very slowly losing. In two years she went from a size 26 to recently wearing a size 6!
Update: I have dropped a few more pounds. 166.0 now. I'm still doing postnatal slim down. It's harder to find that window of opportunity to get my workout in since the twins are more mobile and active. I'm not walking as much, at all really due to the heat. That lower belly pudge is a pain in the rear to get rid of. I'm still in a size 14 and most of my shirts are really huge now. DH told me the other day that I look 'deflated' lol. I'll post again if I ever make it out of size 14 lol ☺️
