npr: can you donate stuffed animals anywhere?

I came across a box of stuffed animals, mostly beenie bears that we don't need.  I hate to just throw them away.  does anyone know if salvation army will take them or anywhere else I can donate them?

    take them to a local church or a daycare they would surely take them...

    I've always donated that stuff, though I've never gone to the front of the store and seen if they were actually selling that stuff.

    Yes, you can donate them. From what I've seen, they sell them in lots, or groupings of 3 or more.

    If they are in good condition, try contacting your local police or fire station.  I know that they (well, up here anyway) take donations of gently used stuffed toys to give to child victims.
