Eating More & Teething

From what I've read/heard it's common for babies to eat less while teething because they're in pain.  Anyone notice the opposite and their baby wants to eat more?

Our son is 7.5 months, and we can see his bottom front teeth JUST starting to poke through the gums.  He's had a rough few weeks, he just got over a stomach virus that lasted a week and a half.  Then went straight into teething.  During the virus he ate much, much less because he couldn't keep anything down.  Over the weekend we could see he was starting to feel better, was more active, starting to eat more, and the vomiting stopped.

The last two days he seems famished, like he cannot get enough food.  He has woken up from his afternoon naps after only 45 minutes (usually last around 1.5 hours) crying until he is fed.  I just fed him, he drank the bottle super quickly (7 oz), when the bottle was empty he started to cry hysterically again.  I can tell he is still tired since his nap was so short compared to normal, so I put him back down.

We do an eat, play, sleep routine.  So we typically don't feed and put to bed until his last bottle of the night at bedtime.  I don't want to form a new sleep crutch like feeding to sleep.  I'm sure these few times won't matter, but I don't want this to become a new habit.

Our daily routine looks similar to this...times are rough estimates since it varies day to day

6-6:30  Wake
7:00 Bottle (7 oz)
8:00 Solids (oatmeal mixed w/ formula & fruit puree)
9/9:30  Nap 1
10:30/11 Bottle (7 oz)
1:30/2 Nap 2
3/3:30 Bottle (7 oz)
5:00 Solids (oatmeal mixed w/ formula & veggie puree)
6:45 Bottle (8.5 oz)
7/7:15  Bedtime

This "schedule" has been working for us for quite some time now, here and there we of course get the random short naps, but he's typically okay. Just these last few days it's like he cannot make it through that second nap because he's starving!

At 7.5 months should I be adding in a 3rd meal of solids at lunch time?  Maybe this will help fill him up more before going down for his second nap?  Could this just be teething related and things will go back to normal?

Our LO just turned 8 months and we're introducing a 3rd meal starting tomorrow. He has been doing veggies for lunch and oatmeal and fruit for dinner, but we're going to introduce breakfast now (either oatmeal with fruit or plain yogurt with fruit). We're also going to start incorporating some of the melt in your mouth baby biscuits, freeze dried yogurt, etc. as a snack (and to get him used to finger foods). We'll try scrambled eggs once he gets the hang of those. So you could definitely bump it up to 3 meals a day now, as well as increasing the amount of oatmeal/fruit/veggies you give him at each meal. :)
