Hi, I'm Robin from Oxford, OH (near Cincinnati).  We were team green throughout the pregnancy and our little girl (Alice Caroline) was born on her due date of December 28th.  The labor experience wasn't so bad but due to a few issues our daughter was in the special care nursery for four days.  We had a bit of a rough start and breastfeeding was so much harder than I ever thought.  We have supplemented since the beginning but we are still breastfeeding - she enjoys it and I love the snuggles.  I'm not sure how much longer we will BF but I hope to make it at least 6 months, maybe longer as long as my meager supply holds on.

I am a SAHM and the husband is a college professor.  Alice is our first human baby, we also have a golden retriever.  I hope to give her a sibling one day but we'll just have to wait and see.  I'm 33 so I kind of feel like my clock is ticking but I'm really enjoying giving Alice all my attention.  The last month or so has been wonderful.  She isn't as gassy anymore and is generally in much better spirits.  Its so much fun to see her personality develop.  Now if we can just figure this whole sleep thing out!

Hi I'm Taylor from California and FTM. I was here every so often during my pregnancy, but didn't participate often. My LO was due 12/29 and born 01/01- it was an insane labor. I'm a SAHM, but I do work twice a week as a preschool teacher.
I'm actually hoping now that things have settled and we're in more of routine to be able to participate here more regularly.
  • My mom grew up in Germany! Bouncing around from Berlin to Traunreut! I went there for a month in highschool! :) Mostly Ubersee/Chiemsee/Munchen area! One of my most favourite experiences! I still have family in Bielefeld! Jealous you actually live there! I've never been to Baden-Wurttemberg! @goldochsi

Hi! I'm Tab from GA. Been lurking for a while, off and on, when I need to research anything. My LO was born on Dec 11, 2 days before her due date, in spite of everyone betting she would be early! Dramatic cinematic-style losing of the waters, and 20 1/2 hours later, Miss M arrived via unplanned c-section. I'm a FTM and SAHM...also, older. Was having chronic health issues, got them under control and magically got pregnant a few months later, right around the time I was getting ready to re-enter the working world.

Struggled with BF, tried to pump. Ravenous baby+no milk=formula. Post partum migraines have been tough, very brief period of colic but, lots of help from Daddy. (Thank God!)

Now we're trying solids and have cut 2 teeth since last week!

*jealous of the Bumpies who posted from Scotland and Germany! LOVE Scotland, and haven't been to Germany yet. Germany will be our next big trip, when we can actually take it, now that we have LO it may be a while!  Baden Württemberg is actually on my list of places to visit!
  • Hi there!  I'm Kirsten from Kansas.  Mom to Rowan born on Dec 9 (almost 2 weeks early). I work about 15 hrs a week and my mom watches DS during those times.  He is EBF and a chunk (19 lbs 3 oz 97%)!  I'm blessed with a super happy, easy going baby.
  • @MotherOfDragons that's not far away from where I live. I was an Au Pair in Pennsylvania. And I've been to New York and Florida. We will be back when Jonathan is old enough to enjoy it!
  • @Mizuiro007 We are in Lawrence
  • @kksquared I went to school in Ottawa and used to run up to Lawrence a lot. I loved going to Java Break off Mass St.

Angelica from AZ. My son was born on his due date Dec 2nd via scheduled C section. No issues just didn't want to birth a 10 lbs baby vaginally, lol. He was born an oz away from the 10 therefore I still stand by my decision.

I have been here since I found out I was pregnant last March however wasn't very active until he was born. As some of you know my son is high needs/high spirited. I was a corporate manager with full intentions to return however due to his needs, I had to resign and now am a SAHM. It's bittersweet. Its not who I am but feel at peace I'm taking care of him.

My style is very much attachment parenting. I nurse on demand as he is EBF and we bedshare. I would wear him but dislikes it as he does most things lol so I carry his almost 20 lbs around.

In my late 20s,happily married to my wife of 2 years. Our baby boy is our first. :)

I remember your dilemma of returning to to work or staying home. I'm happy it all worked out and I bet baby is too to have you there with him :)

i work with a little petite woman who birthed a 10 pounder and the kid ripped her from top to butthole. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty for the cs, my coworker should have had one.
@Gingermom15 aw thank you! Yes I did go back for 3 weeks. I had a family member take care of him and she only lasted 4 days! As I predicted, he was too much to handle and poor thing suffered.  I'll go back one day. I keep telling myself it's just a pause from my career. Whats important is that he is much happier now.

And your poor coworker! Yeah I am 5'1, 112 lbs. My OB said "you can try but the odds are against you..." lol I appreciate it!
@angelicac06 Sounds like you have a good OB!

Aw but, I've been to the 'boro...you're so close to Savannah! We actually go to Savannah pretty often, we got married there. Love it.   We live in the burbs...so not super cool haha!

    @cedixon2

I second the beverage of choice! I think Hubs and I have bred another coffee junkie, she tries to wrestle me for my cup every morning. The dog cannot be trusted either.

Love twins. Was super scared of, and sort of hoping for them. We have them on both sides, and my great great grandfather had like 3 sets!

    Hey everyone!
I've been somewhat active since pregnancy but reluctant to divulge too much personal info (names, pics) since I have had an issue with a stalker in RL. My son was born Dec. 3rd and we live in Los Angeles. We have had issues with tongue and lip tie (minor laser surgery at 8 and 10 weeks) and thus difficulty breastfeeding. It's still painful from time to time, but I would go through any pain for my little one to BF. We are hoping to do a year at least. He was refusing the breast a lot but we are getting back on track. Month 3 was hard and stressful but the clouds seemed to part at 4.5 months and still chill at 5 months old. Knock on wood.
I was a makeup artist before, but I lost interest since pregnancy and I really want to start selling my paintings but it's hard to find the time to paint with a baby!

Parenting style is go with the flow- Attachment mixed with a little bit of RIE. There was so much I wanted to do but you have to let that sht go. For example I wanted to baby-wear all the time but he only started at 5 month to accept being worn.
  • I'm Allysa, 30, from California but currently in the Chicago area (DH is navy, we will be going to Virginia next). Didn't find out we were expecting until 2 months in, DH was my boyfriend at the time and in the middle of boot camp. Couldn't get married until November because I was waiting on a divorce decree and San Diego courts are backed up for months, so I spent pretty much all my pregnancy across the country from DH which was hard. Finally was able to move here and be together with him in early December once we got the paperwork in to his barracks, and had Zane 2 weeks later.
Planned for an all natural birth but had to be induced at 38+5 because my water started leaking and no active labor after 24 hours. Lived the scariest, most dramatic 9 minutes of my life when Zane came out blue and not breathing and had to be resuscitated. The 9 minutes it took felt like forever, scared that I might be leaving the hospital with no sweet little baby in my arms. Didn't get to hold him until later in the nursery. He was 6lb 7oz, 19in, and is now 4mo 1wk, 16lb and 24.5in.
He is EBF, not counting the dextrose IV he had for the first day. BF has been difficult; nipple pain from the beginning, treated for thrush after suffering for almost a month,  which seemed to clear up but still had tingly nipple sensations. Started exclusively pumping around 2 months due to the pain, now being treated for Reynauds but it isn't helping much and now he won't take the breast so I'm stuck pumping for the rest of our breastfeeding time. It's difficult to find the time to pump and wash parts and bottles as I'm home alone with Zane most of the time, but I'm happy to do it for my sweet little smiley boy. I'm also the weirdo on this board who sometimes drinks my own milk (bottle leftovers) but hey I haven't gotten sick yet and it seems to help burn off weight. Haven't had many leftovers lately as Zane is incredibly hungry. He takes about 6oz per feeding, and around 9oz for his last feeding before bedtime.
I'm currently a SAHM but I have a Juris Doctorate and passed the California bar exam but haven't filed my moral character application because it's expensive and I went to a state accredited school which does me no good moving around with the navy, so we will see in a few years if I will pick back up on pursuing a career as an attorney.
Last but not least, I'm a raver and haven't stopped during pregnancy or after baby. Met DH at a rave club and electronic music is our thing. I pushed to trance music, best part was when old songs from around 2000 would come on and the midwife and nurse were like "oh dang this is an oldie!" Lol! They were totally on board! We are taking Zane with us to a camping music festival this summer ^_^
  •  Hi, I'm Jennifer from Oregon. I've been active since pregnancy but don't post often. I'm 33 and I have a 3 1/2-year-old boy and DD was born on Christmas eve!  I'm a SAHM.

I'm Katie from RI.  Adrienne was born Dec. 20, five days late.  I've mostly been a lurker, but contribute when I feel like I can add something ☺.
  • Hi friends! Sorry i'm not on here that much anymore, I try to catch up when I can! I'm Deia from San Diego, mom to 4 month old Isla. My DD was 12/28 but induced and had her on 1/5. I work 4 hours in the office and the rest from home, still EBF (between nursing and pumping) - can't believe we made it this far!

Hey I'm Sarah, my baby Benjamin was born December 27th and he is awesome!  He's a chunker at 15.6lbs at his 4 month appt.  He's breast fed currently and I pump every once in a while.  Most days he's happy and sleeps well at night!

my husband and I are moving back to New England after both being in the active duty Army for the last 10yrs.  We are excited to bring the baby close to family and raise him as a New Englander!

I am a critical care nurse and hoping to go to grad school with my GI Bill.  Right now I'm technically a stay at home mom which is new for me not to be working!  But it feels liberating after 10yrs to be able to choose to stay home instead of the Army dictating what I'm going to do!
  • Hi I'm Katie from Oregon. Nixon was born on December 13. My first baby! I am currently a pharmacy technician and soon to be nursing student! So far we have a very easy go with the flow baby. We do what works for us.. I'm super ocd and trying to give up caring about housework so I can spend as much time as I can with LO. I love this board because I find it so helpful when I have questions and I like everyone's different view point!
