@krzyriver I feel your pain! I have three "step" kids and when they go to Mom's they end up being watched the entire time by her oldest pot-smoking teenage daughter. We have a very structured routine at our house, a set bedtime, etc. My stepson is unbearable when he comes back because when he's there he gets no supervision and just plays Xbox and stays up all night. He ends up having tons of resentment and talks back to me because he has to follow rules here.

do not put anything in the bed with an infant except the baby. no blanket pillow stuffed animals bumpers toys NOTHINGG.
i work for cps and I will not tell you some of the crazy stuff I've seen. NOTHING. swaddle, sleep sack, whatever. that's it. NOTHING BESIDES A SHEET EVEN THE MESH BUMPERS.
@mrszoess For clarification, are you saying swaddles/sleep sacks are okay and mesh bumpers are bad?
Mesh bumpers aren't needed until baby is moving and they can get an arm or leg stuck in between the rails. We didn't use ours for DS until he was 6-7 months old. Swaddles like the Halo are fine IMO because even if baby breaks out, it's pretty hard to get the Velcro part over his/her face. I didn't like swaddle blankets because DS broke out of them too easily and I was worried about him pulling them over his face, but Halo sleepsacks/swaddled are the shit and he never once got close to having one near his face.
yes @rainmira9e also what @peggyolsonftw said the mesh is fine when they're older but when they can't move and can get lodged somewhere you'd want them to have air.
my registry is a billion sleep sacks. they're fantastic and come in 900 different fabrics and sizes. my friends kid still wears one at 2. they also zip from the bottom as well so changing is super easy.

DS wore sleepsacks until he was just over two. Then he started sticking his head inside them and hiding instead of sleeping so we ditched them. But when baby is little, a Halo sleepsacks and a gown is the best nighttime pair in the world. Diaper changes are soooo easy that way. No snaps to do in the dark!
@mrszoess I think there's a back way. At the top of the mobile page, there should be community > bump month clubs. Click on bump month clubs and it should be there?
I've been feeling baby move for about 10 days now, but tonight in bed he was really going crazy, and when my husband put his hand on my tummy he was able to feel him too! So exciting, and a couple of weeks earlier than last time, I think.
I'm getting my hair cut and highlighted today for the first time in a year.. I'm terrible with my hair.. it's my birthday present to myself- my 30th is sunday. My husband said he tried to plan a party but it was a "logistical nightmare" and said "it's the thought that counts".. I don't know why this bummed me out so bad, probably hormones because I really don't care that much- oh well. Pity party for one, can anyone find me a tiny violin?
ughhhh I'm so weepy, I just lurked the april 16 birth announcements...
I had a dream that one of the regular bumper on here had their baby girl last night, but even though she was tiny she was so precious, didn't have that alien preemie look, didn't have to stay in NICU, and was perfectly healthy! It made me feel super anxious to meet little man, and of course thrilled to see the first healthy, happy birth announcement on the board. I guess even my subconscious has nothing better to do than get on the bump lol
@cbamama641 Happy early birthday! Sorry about no party =/ Maybe he actually has a surprise planned and is just trying to throw you off the scent? And as far as your haircut goes, don't ask for "layered and feathery"!

I had a similar thought, but we really are super busy this weekend so I doubt it! And light and feathery are not words to describe my hair! and thanks for the birthday wishes
I had a dream that I bought the cutest pair of brown sandals...and was so sad when I woke up & found out that I don't really own them after all. They were adorable!
Does anyone on here watch Person of Interest? It's back and I just watched the opener of season 5 and I am so excited (even though its the last season and it's gonna be short)

Actually, yes! I teach orchestra and some of my 4th graders have 1/4 violins sorry about the party, and happy early birthday! Mine is Tuesday.
I've been searching for crib bedding for three days and have yet to find anything I like within our budget. WHY IS TINY BEDDING SO EXPENSIVE?! And why does nursery furniture not come in sets like adult furniture? I want everything to match and the only matching sets I can find are ridiculously expensive. I can't bring myself to spend over $1,000 on a crib and dresser!!!
Why don't you look at goodwill or other second hand stores or yard sales for stuff that looks relatively similar and then paint it/add matching hardware? I'm thinking of going this route because I have sticker shock after looking at stuff.
This is what we did. We had an old dresser from my husbands grandma and painted it to match the room. It turned out really nice.
Hey everyone! Sorry I've been so MIA, just trying to get back into the board. Was away and now playing catch up at work.
Weighing in on the sleep sacks, agree the zipper ones are the BEST. As a STM, I've learned that we HATE any pjs that button up. Way too difficult in middle of the night diaper changes. Zippers for the win!
Anyone know of a good place to find maternity tank tops with a built in bra? I wear a tank top under my shirt every single day and my normal ones are starting to feel a little snug. I tried target because that's where I got all of my non-maternity tanks but they don't have a built in bra and I feel like the girls need extra support.

I'm SO HUNGRY the last few days. I feel like I'm going through a growth spurt like my DS does sometimes. It's getting ridiculous. I had toast and Greek yogurt for breakfast at 8 a.m. It's 10 a.m. and I could honestly eat an entire meal (and I've been feeling this way for almost an hour, but I've been stuck on a conference call). I just want all the carbs.
I'll just keep telling myself what I always do. "Next week is the week I'll cut back and eat healthy foods in reasonable portions like a normal human. Next week..."
