Re: the meternity article. When we were in our mid-twenties my husband would get so jealous of his coworkers who got to take off because their kids were sick, leave right at the end of the day, etc. His tune has definitely changed as we got older. That article rubbed me the wrong way mostly because the idea of being "allowed" to take 12 weeks unpaid to heal and take care of a screaming shitting newborn is the same luxury as being able to take some time and "focus on myself" is laughable.
Re: being too tired to imagine working more. I have 6 more weeks of students, and then 2 weeks of inservice/prepping my replacement. It's getting to be such a struggle just existing, I can't imagine how I'm going to do 8 more weeks!
I'm with everyone in regards to work. I've always been ambitious in what I want and worked a ton but now I just want to be home, eat yummy stuff, walk my dogs, fluff up our apartment. Anything but be here. The person covering my mat leave is with me two days next week then full time the week after. I'm so excited
Um, why is my baby trying to escape through my ribs? My coworkers think I'm insane because I randomly shoot up from my desk and gasp. I do NOT remember my first kid doing this..I would definitely remember this pain.
Yes! I keep gasping too at the kicks and rolls. Mine are lower. I also don't remember this happening last time.
If it's any indication of personality..I think we're in trouble.
Ugh. My daughter was an AWESOME, EASY baby. I need another one of those, please.
@mandyjulie RIGHT? I have started telling random people who ask June which is practically true with a 7/2 EDD. I just don't need the bug eyed response right now...
I'm with everyone else. Work sucks. Legally I need a locking filing cabinet for student records (duh) but my room didn't have one. I bought one. Put in to be reimbursed for it, and the SPED department wants my school to pay it and my school wants the SPED department to pay for it and so both are denying paying for the locking cabinet that they are requiring me to have. Really?
Also Friday we have our annual field trip for the Special Olympics and I really wish we weren't going. The kids always love it but the idea of being on my feet chasing kiddos at an open track all day sounds so torturous my feet are swelling just thinking about it.
I just got a jury duty summons at my parents house in my maiden name. I've been married with my name changed for two years. Also, there is no way I can serve jury duty at 8 months pregnant with twins. Hopefully my doctor will give me a note to excuse me.
I am also sick of going to work. Trying to function and act pleasant and professional on minimal sleep with a sore back is torture. I can't believe we have to survive 4 more days till the weekend.
@shanparadise Definitely call the number or fill out the online form or whatever you have to do to fight it. My sister was able to delay her jury duty and she was less than 8 months pregnant with twins. If anything, you may need a note from your doctor, but they won't argue much.
I just found a bunch of my mail in the lobby of my building labeled RTS moved. How about deliver the mail to the right address (which was clearly marked on the envelope). No wonder I don't get much mail
The cunt who tried to convince me that I was having twins because she's had all of her babies so she should know. I gave no fucks when I said 'Umm, no. You're not a doctor or an ultrasound tech, I only have 9 weeks left of this pregnancy and I would definitely know if I was having twins by now. Thanks for calling me fat, though. I'm not much bigger than you are.' before walking away from my desk.
I did laundry all weekend and just put it right on the couch. MH just told me that his friend is staying tonight, and the couch is covered in my underwear (of all different shapes and sizes) and bras....and everything else. I asked MH to put them on our bed before his friend comes over, and he said "He is already here, but I will get to it soon." I told him that I didn't want all of that stuff hanging out for him to see. He says "He isn't going to look, because he doesn't care." I care damn it! Why is it that if someone were to say they were coming over, my first thought would be to get that stuff in the bedroom and then clean up a little bit, and his first thought is that because he doesn't think that his friend cares...than nobody else should care either......
My bitch is stupid, but I ordered myself a pair of maternity/nursing short sleeve pjs for the rest of this pregnancy (it's hot!) and July/August/... And ASOS just emailed to say they oversold them. I am so bummed.
